Abstract:BACKGROUND:Elective single embryo transfer (eSET) has been increasingly advocated, but concerns about the lower pregnancy rate after reducing the number of embryos transferred have encouraged transfer of multiple embryos. Extended embryo culture combined with electively freezing all embryos and undertaking a deferred frozen embryo transfer might increase pregnancy rate after eSET. We aimed to establish whether elective frozen single blastocyst transfer improved singleton livebirth rate compared with fresh single blastocyst transfer.METHODS:This multicentre, non-blinded, randomised controlled trial was undertaken in 21 academic fertility centres in China. 1650 women with regular menstrual cycles undergoing their first cycle of in-vitro fertilisation were enrolled from Aug 1, 2016, to June 3, 2017. Eligible women were randomly assigned to either fresh or frozen single blastocyst transfer. The randomisation sequence was computer generated, with block sizes of two, four, or six, stratified by study site. For those assigned to frozen blastocyst transfer, all blastocysts were cryopreserved and a delayed frozen-thawed single blastocyst transfer was done. The primary outcome was singleton livebirth rate. Analysis was by intention to treat. This trial is registered at the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, number ChiCTR-IOR-14005405.FINDINGS:825 women were assigned to each group and included in analyses. Frozen single blastocyst transfer resulted in higher rates of singleton livebirth than did fresh single blastocyst transfer (416 [50%] vs 329 [40%]; relative risk [RR] 1·26, 95% CI 1·14-1·41, p<0·0001). The risks of moderate or severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (four of 825 [0·5%] in frozen single blastocyst transfer vs nine of 825 [1·1%] in fresh single blastocyst transfer; p=0·16), pregnancy loss (134 of 583 [23·0%] vs 124 of 481 [25·8%]; p=0·29), other obstetric complications, and neonatal morbidity were similar between the two groups. Frozen single blastocyst transfer was associated with a higher risk of pre-eclampsia (16 of 512 [3·1%] vs four of 401 [1·0%]; RR 3·13, 95% CI 1·06-9·30, p=0·029).INTERPRETATION:Frozen single blastocyst transfer resulted in a higher singleton livebirth rate than did fresh single blastocyst transfer in ovulatory women with good prognosis. The increased risk of pre-eclampsia after frozen blastocyst transfer warrants further studies.FUNDING:The National Key Research and Development Program of China.

Abstract:Multiple pregnancies are one of the major safety concerns of in vitro fertilization (IVF) due to the increased risk of maternal and neonatal complications. Single embryo transfer is the most effective way to reduce the risk of multiple pregnancies. Selection of the embryo and optimization of the implantation environment are crucial to retain the success rate when the number of transferred embryos is diminished. Fresh embryo transfer with supra-physiological levels of hormones has been suggested to have an adverse effect on implantation. Elective frozen embryo transfer has been suggested to result in a higher rate of live birth than fresh embryo transfer. However, there is still a lack of evidence from randomized clinical trials comparing the efficacy and safety between frozen and fresh single blastocyst transfers.

Abstract:We aimed to determine the clinical outcome of double cleavage-stage embryo transfers in frozen-thawed embryo transfer cycles for older women. This study analyzed a total of 8189 cleavage-stage frozen-thawed embryo transfer cycles between January 2013 and December 2017 at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital. All cycles were sorted into 3 groups based on patient age: <= 35 years (Group A), 36 to 37 years (Group B), and >= 38 years (Group C). The clinical pregnancy rate (CPR), implantation rate (IR), live birth rate (LBR), miscarriage rate, multiple pregnancy rate (MPR), preterm birth rate, and low-birth-weight rate were compared between the 3 groups. Significant differences in CPR, IR, LBR, MPR, and premature birth rate were found among the 3 groups. The CPR, IR, LBR, and MPR in Group A were higher than those in Group C. Transfers of 2 high-quality embryos resulted in significant differences in CPR, IR, LBR, MPR, and neonatal weight among the 3 groups, but no differences in premature birth and abortion rates were observed. Transfers with 1 high-quality and 1 fair-quality embryo resulted in significant differences in CPR, IR, and LBR among the 3 groups. Comparison of transfers of 2 high-quality embryos with 1 high-quality and 1 fair-quality embryo showed that the CPR and LBR were significantly lower for the latter in Groups A and C, but Group B had no salient changes. Higher IR and LBR and lower MPR may be achieved by selection of optimal embryo types for patients of different ages. Two high-quality embryos need to be transferred in women older than 38 years. For women aged 36 to 37 years, 1 high-quality embryo or 1 high-quality plus 1 fair-quality embryo should be singled out for transfer. For women younger than 35 years, a single high-quality embryo should be selected for transfer.

Abstract:(Abstracted from N Engl J Med 2018;378:126–136) A previous randomized controlled trial involving women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) compared fresh-embryo transfer with elective freezing of all embryos followed by frozen-embryo transfer. The data showed that frozen-embryo transfer had a higher live-birth rate in these women compared with fresh-embryo transfer. Whether frozen-embryo transfer also increases live-birth rates among ovulatory women with infertility without PCOS is uncertain.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:Reduced endometrial receptivity in hyperstimulated cycles may lead to a lower implantation rate and a lower clinical pregnancy rate, but it is unclear if it is also associated with an increase in pregnancy loss rate. The aim of this study was to compare the implantation, miscarriage, and pregnancy rates between fresh and frozen thawed transfer of one or two day-3 embryos, with a view to understanding whether or not reduced endometrial receptivity encountered in hyperstimulated cycles is associated with an increase in miscarriage rate.METHODS:This study involved a consecutive series of 1 551 single day-3 embryo transfer cycles and consecutive 5 919 double day-3 embryo transfer cycles in the Assisted Reproductive Unit of the Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Hangzhou, China, between January 2010 and December 2012.RESULTS:The implantation and clinical pregnancy rates (single embryo 30.7% and double embryos 33.4% and 51.4%) using fresh cycle were both significantly lower than that of frozen-thawed cycles (single embryo 35.8% and double embryos 38.1% and 57.8%). There was no difference in biochemical loss or clinical miscarriage rates between the two groups.CONCLUSIONS:Impairment of endometrial receptivity associated with ovarian hyperstimulation leads to implantation failure at a very early stage, resulting in an increased number of non-pregnancy. It does not lead to increase in biochemical or clinical losses. The significantly reduced ongoing pregnancy rates in both fresh single and double embryo transfer are therefore due to failure to achieve a pregnancy, rather than pregnancy loss after conception.

Effectiveness of atosiban in women with previous single implantation failure undergoing frozen-thawed blastocyst transfer: study protocol for a randomised controlled trial

Abstract:Background Uterine contractions may interfere with embryo implantation in assisted reproductive technology. To reduce these contractions and improve success rates, the oxytocin antagonist atosiban has been suggested for administration during embryo transfer. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of atosiban in increasing live birth rates among women who have previously experienced a single implantation failure and are scheduled for single blastocyst transfer. Methods and analysis We conduct a single-centre randomised controlled study comparing atosiban and placebo in women undergoing a single blastocyst transfer with a previous failed blastocyst transfer. Women with endocrine or systemic illnesses, recurrent miscarriages, uterine malformations or fibroids, untreated hydrosalpinx, endometriosis (stage III or IV) or uterine fibroids, as well as women undergoing preimplantation genetic testing, are ineligible. The primary outcome is live birth resulting from the frozen-thawed embryo transfer. Secondary outcomes include biochemical/clinical pregnancy, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, multiple pregnancies as well as maternal and perinatal outcomes. We plan to recruit 1100 women (550 women per group). This will allow us to demonstrate or refute an increase in live birth rate from 40% to 50%. Data analysis will follow the intention-to-treat principle. We will measure patterns of uterine peristalsis which will allow subgroup analysis for women with or without uterine peristalsis. Ethics and dissemination This study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board of Northwest Women's and Children's Hospital (No. SZ2019001). Written informed consent will be obtained from each participant before randomisation. The results of the trial will be presented at scientific meetings and reported in publications. Trial registration number ChiCTR1900022333.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:Atosiban is administered to women undergoing in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) to improve pregnancy outcomes. However, the results of this treatment were controversial. We conducted this meta-analysis to investigate whether atosiban improves pregnancy outcomes in the women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). METHODS:Databases of PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, China BioMedicine, and Google Scholar were systematically searched. Meta-analyses were performed to investigate whether atosiban improves pregnancy outcomes in the women undergoing IVF. RESULTS:Our results showed that atosiban was associated with higher implantation (OR = 1.63, 95% CI: 1.17-2.27; P = 0.004) and clinical pregnancy (OR = 1.84, 95% CI: 1.31-2.57; P < 0.001) rates. However, atosiban showed no significant association with the miscarriage, live birth, multiple pregnancy or ectopic pregnancy rates. When a further subgroup analysis was performed in the women undergoing repeated implantation failure (RIF), implantation (OR = 1.93, 95% CI: 1.45-2.57; P < 0.001), clinical pregnancy (OR = 2.48, 95% CI: 1.70-3.64; P <0.001) and the live birth (OR = 2.89, 95% CI: 1.78-4.67; P < 0.001) rates were significantly higher in the case group. Nevertheless, no significant difference was detected in the miscarriage and multiple pregnancy rates between the case and control groups. CONCLUSION:Atosiban may be more appropriate for women undergoing RIF and play only a limited role in improving pregnancy outcomes in the general population of women undergoing IVF. These conclusions should be verified in large and well-designed studies.
A randomized double blind comparison of atosiban in patients with recurrent implantation failure undergoing IVF treatment

Abstract:Background Patients with recurrent implantation failure (RIF) may have more uterine contractions. Several observational studies suggested that atosiban administration around embryo transfer resulted in higher pregnancy rates in RIF patients. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of atosiban given before fresh embryo transfer on pregnancy outcomes of women with RIF. Methods A prospective, randomized, double-blind controlled clinical trial was performed in IVF center of Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital. According to a computer-generated randomization list, 194 infertile women with RIF received fresh embryo transfer between July 2017 and December 2019 were randomly allocated into the atosiban ( n = 97) and the placebo ( n = 97) groups. Women in the treatment group received atosiban intravenously about 30 min before embryo transfer with a bolus dose of 6.75 mg over one minute. Those in the placebo group received only normal saline infusion for the same duration. Results There was no significant difference in the live birth rate between the atosiban and placebo groups (42.3% vs 35.1%, P = 0.302, RR = 1.206 (0.844–1.723)). No significant differences were found between the two groups in the positive pregnancy test, clinical pregnancy, ongoing pregnancy, miscarriage, multiple pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy and implantation rates. Similar results were found when stratified by the number of embryos previously transferred, number of previous failed embryo transfers, frequency of endometrial peristalsis on embryo transfer day (≥ 3 waves/min) or serum estradiol (E 2 ) on the day of hCG above the median level. And, there was no correlation between the serum E 2 level on the day of hCG and the frequency of endometrial peristalsis on embryo transfer day. The frequency of endometrial peristalsis on embryo transfer day, total FSH/HMG dosage and duration were the significant factors which independently predicted the likelihood of a live birth. Conclusions These results suggested that atosiban treatment before fresh embryo transfer might not improve the live birth rate in RIF patients. Trial registration The study had been approved by the Institutional Review Board of the hospital (2017 ethics No.43) and was registered under Clinicaltrials.gov with an identifier NCT02893722.
Pregnancy and perinatal outcomes in pregnancies following frozen embryo transfer (FET) after transcervical resection of adhesions (TCRA): A retrospective cohort study with propensity score matching analysis

Abstract:Objective: To compare the pregnancy and perinatal outcomes of frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) in patients following transcervical resection of adhesions (TCRA) versus patients with normal uterine morphology, and to investigate the factors influencing pregnancy outcomes in patients undergoing FET after TCRA. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed FET cycles from September 2014 to September 2023, comparing patients with normal uterine morphology to those with intrauterine adhesions (IUAs) treated with TCRA. Propensity score matching (PSM) adjusted for confounding factors. LASSO regression and multivariate logistic regression identified predictors of outcomes, which were visually represented in nomograms. Model performance was assessed using calibration curves, ROC curves, and DCA, with bootstrap method for internal validation. Results: Post-PSM analysis showed higher live birth rates in patients with normal uterine morphology after clinical pregnancy (75.1% vs. 61.7%, P < 0.001). No significant differences were noted in clinical pregnancy rates and perinatal outcomes between the groups. Factors influencing clinical pregnancy in FET after TCRA included basal progesterone levels, endometrial thickness, parity, infertility cause, embryo stage at transfer, number and quality of embryos transferred, IUA severity, and TCRA surgical procedures. Body mass index, basal LH levels, and day 14 HCG levels post-embryo transfer were determinants of live birth outcome. Conclusion: FET cycles following TCRA showed a lower rate of successful live births, but TCRA did not increase adverse perinatal outcome risks. Our study introduces an innovative predictive model for clinical pregnancy and live birth outcomes in patients undergoing FET following TCRA, addressing a significant void in existing research.

Abstract:Background: Low-dose aspirin is one of the widely used adjuvants in assisted reproductive technologies with the hope of improving the live birth rate. However, the studies regarding its effects are conflicting. The study aimed to investigate the association between aspirin administration and live birth following frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) in patients with different body mass index (BMI). Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed on 11,993 patients receiving FET treatments. 644 of which received a low-dose aspirin (100 mg/day) during endometrial preparation until 10 weeks after transfer. Propensity score matching was performed to avoid selection biases and potential confounders. Results: The clinical pregnancy rate and live birth rate were similar before matching (54.4% versus 55.4%, RR: 1.02, 95%CI: 0.95-1.09, and 46.3 versus 47.8, RR: 1.03, 95%CI: 0.95-1.12 respectively). A weak association in favor of aspirin administration was found in the matched cohort (49.5% versus 55.4%, RR: 1.12, 95%CI: 1.01-1.24, and 41.9% versus 47.8%, RR: 1.14, 95%CI: 1.01-1.29 respectively). However, when stratified the patients with WHO BMI criteria, a significant increase in live birth rate associated with aspirin treatment was found only in patients with low BMI (<18.5 kg/m2) in either unmatched (46.4% versus 59.8%, RR:1.29, 95%CI:1.07-1.55) or matched cohort (44% versus 59.8%, RR: 1.36, 95%CI: 1.01-1.83) but not in patients with higher BMI categories. With the interaction analysis, less association between aspirin and live birth appeared in patients with normal BMI (Ratio of OR:0.49, 95%CI: 0.29-0.81) and high BMI (Ratio of OR:0.57, 95%CI: 0.27-1.2) compared with patients with low BMI. Conclusion: BMI may be considered when evaluating aspirin's effect in FET cycles.

Abstract:Objective: Regarding frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET), there is limited consensus on whether extending embryo culture from the cleavage stage to the blastocyst stage affects perinatal outcomes. This study aimed to compare perinatal outcomes of singletons between blastocyst-stage transfer (BT) and cleavage-stage transfer (CT) in FET. Methods: A total of 9,408 FET cycles that met the inclusion criteria were included in this retrospective cohort study between 2019 and 2022. Blastocyst-stage embryo transfers were performed in the BT group, and cleavage-stage embryo transfers were performed in the CT group. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed, as well as propensity score matching (PSM) to adjust for confounders. Results: After PSM, a higher risk of preterm birth (PTB) (OR 1.23, 95% CI 1.00–1.50, P =0.048) and being large for gestational age (LGA) (OR 1.16, 95% CI 1.00–1.35, P =0.050) was observed in the BT group compared to that in the CT group. After stratified PSM, in the subgroup under 35 years of age, only an increased risk of LGA was observed in the BT group compared to the CT group. Perinatal outcomes in the double-embryo transfer subgroup were similar to those in the unstratified group. However, in the subgroup beyond 35 years of age and the single-embryo transfer subgroup, perinatal outcomes were not statistically different between the BT and CT groups ( P >0.05). Conclusions: In FET, prolonged embryo culture to the blastocyst stage increased the risk of PTB and LGA in single fetuses. However, stratified analysis based on age and the number of transferred embryos yielded different results, necessitating further mechanistic studies.

Effect of atosiban on in vitro fertilization pregnancy outcome among women with endometriosis in presence or absence of adenomyosis

Abstract:Objective: This study aimed to assess the effect of atosiban on in vitro fertilization (IVF) pregnancy outcome among women with both endometriosis and adenomyosis, and compared it to that of patients with endometriosis but without adenomyosis and that of patients with tubal factor only. Materials and methods: 106 infertile women (176 embryo transfers) from a medical center in Taiwan were included in the analysis, where 34 (54), 34 (66), and 38 (56) cases (embryo transfers) were endometriosis without adenomyosis, endometriosis with adenomyosis, and tubal infertility factor only, respectively. Adenomyosis morphologies were classified using an ultrasound-based classification system. The logistic generalized estimating equation model was used to analyze the association between atosiban use and pregnancy outcomes. Results: The crude pregnancy rates for the endometriosis-only group were significantly higher than those for the endometriosis + adenomyosis group (i.e., biochemical pregnancy: 50.0% versus 29.7%, p = 0.041; ongoing pregnancy: 35.2% versus 16.9%, p = 0.038). Significantly higher chances of biochemical pregnancy and ongoing pregnancy among endometriosis patients without adenomyosis versus those with both endometriosis and adenomyosis were found (odds ratios [95% confidence intervals]: 2.981 [1.307, 6.803]; p = 0.009, 2.694 [1.151, 6.304]; p = 0.022). A significant positive association between atosiban use and biochemical pregnancy existed among endometriosis cases without adenomyosis (a 2.43-fold [1.01, 5.89] increase in successful pregnancy; p<0.05), but not for the other groups. Conclusions: Poor pregnancy outcomes among adenomyosis-affected women were confirmed. The use of atosiban significantly enhanced IVF pregnancy among endometriosis patients without adenomyosis.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:There is ongoing debate regarding which embryo transfer procedure can achieve a higher live birth rate. Research has suggested that frozen ET might be beneficial for certain populations, such as hyper-responders. This study aimed to compare outcomes of pregnancies between frozen and fresh embryo transfer cycles in patients with endometrial hyperplasia and carcinoma.METHODS:This retrospective cohort study was conducted at a high-volume reproductive center from January 2010 to January 2022. Patients who were diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia with atypia and endometrial carcinoma were included. They all underwent in vitro fertilization after conservative treatment. The primary outcome was live birth after frozen and fresh embryo transfer cycles, and secondary outcomes included perinatal complications and other pregnancy outcomes.RESULTS:Overall, 259 ET cycles (130 fresh and 129 frozen) were included. The rate of live births per embryo transfer cycle of the whole cohort was 20.8% (54/259), and no significant between-group difference was found after adjusting for potential confounding factors (23.8% vs. 17.8%; adjusted OR, 0.47; 95% CI, 0.21-1.06; p=0.068). Compared to fresh embryo transfer group, the incidence of total maternal complications in the frozen embryo transfer group was significantly higher (30.4% vs. 6.5%, p=0.019). Analyzing each complication as a separate entity, patients in the frozen embryo transfer group had a higher incidence of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (p=0.028). Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that frozen embryo transfer was related with an increased occurrence of maternal complications (OR, 6.68, 95% CI, 1.01-44.19, p=0.040).CONCLUSIONS:Among patients with endometrial hyperplasia and carcinoma, the rate of live births was comparable between both embryo transfer procedures, while frozen embryo transfer might be associated with a higher risk of maternal complications compared to that with fresh embryo transfer.

Abstract:Objective::Regarding frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET), there is limited consensus on whether extending embryo culture from the cleavage stage to the blastocyst stage affects perinatal outcomes. This study aimed to compare perinatal outcomes of singletons between blastocyst-stage embryo transfer (BT) and cleavage-stage embryo transfer (CT) in FET.Methods::A total of 9408 FET cycles that met the inclusion criteria were included in this retrospective cohort study between 2019 and 2022. Blastocyst-stage embryo transfers were performed in the BT group, and cleavage-stage embryo transfers were performed in the CT group. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed, as well as propensity score matching (PSM) to adjust for confounders.Results::After PSM, a higher risk of pre-term birth (PTB; odds ratio [ OR]: 1.23, 95% confidence interval [ CI]: 1.00-1.50, P = 0.048) and being large for gestational age (LGA; OR: 1.16, 95% CI: 1.00-1.35, P = 0.050) was observed in the BT group compared to that in the CT group. Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of embryo cryopreservation and thawing on clinical outcomes of transplantable embryos after preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) or preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) in cleavage-stage. METHODS:The clinical data of 302 cases (including 118 cases using frozen/thawing embryos and 184 cases using fresh embryos) undergoing PGD/PGS in Women's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine during January 2011 and December 2016 were retrospectively analyzed. The pregnancy rate, implantation rate, live birth rate and abortion rate of fresh and frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) cycles were compared. And the influencing factors for pregnancy outcome was analyzed by multivariate logistic regression. RESULTS:The rate of normal or balanced translocation embryos in fresh cycle was higher than that in FET cycle (23.52% vs 16.67%, P<0.05), and the average number of transplanted embryos was more than that in FET cycle (1.54±0.56 vs 1.33±0.51, P<0.05). But there were no significant differences in pregnancy rate (36.42% vs 40.00%, P>0.05), implantation rate (26.62% vs 32.91%, P>0.05), abortion rate (19.44% vs 8.33%, P>0.05) and live birth rate (25.96% vs 28.33%, P>0.05) between fresh cycle and FET cycle. Multivariate logistic regression showed that, parent ages, embryo status (fresh or frozen), the mode of PGD/PGS and the findings of PGD/PGS had no impact on pregnancy outcome (all P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Cryopreservation do not have significant effects on the clinical outcomes of transplantable embryos after PGD/PGS in cleavage-stage.

Abstract:Objective: This study aims to provide an evidence-based assessment of the benefits and harms of four transplantation methods so as to improve the superior pregnancy outcome and reduce the pregnancy rate of multiple embryos in the Mongoloid race. Design: Retrospective analysis Setting: Double Reproductive Centers of Medical University Population or Sample: 24,422 frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) cycles recorded from January 2015 to May 2018. Methods：A retrospective cohort study Main Outcome Measures: Biochemical pregnancy, clinical pregnancy, monozygotic twins, miscarriage, maternal complications, live birth. Results: Of the four groups, the biochemical pregnancy rate, the clinical pregnancy rate, and the live birth rate were the lowest in the C-1 group while they were the highest in the B-2 group. However, the B-2 group was accompanied with higher risks of miscarriage, maternal complications, twin births, preterm births and low birth weights. The biochemical pregnancy rates, the clinical pregnancy rates and the live birth rates in the C-2 group and B-1 group were statistically different, with different risks for monozygotic twins, miscarriages. Conclusion: Single blastocyst transplantation seems to be the best choice for all maternal ages to greatly reduce adverse neonatal outcomes. Abstract:Objective To study the effect of embryo retention in the transfer catheter on pregnancy outcome in frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles. Design Retrospective cohort study. Subjects This retrospective study involved a total of 39,118 women who underwent FET cycles at a tertiary-care academic medical from January 2016 to December 2022. Exposure Women were divided into control group (n=38,933) and embryo retention group (n=185). The women in the embryo retention group were propensity score matched with those in the control group at a 1:4 ratio. Main Outcome Measures The primary outcome was live birth. The second outcomes were biochemical pregnancy, clinical pregnancy, miscarriage, and ectopic pregnancy. Results The overall incidence of embryo retention in the transfer catheter was 0.47% (185/39,118). The pregnancy outcome in the embryo retention group after propensity score matching was comparable to that before propensity score matching, with a reduced likelihood of biochemical pregnancy (odds ratio [OR] 0.83, 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.72–0.95; P =0.007), clinical pregnancy (OR 0.81, 95% CI, 0.69–0.96; P =0.017), and live birth (OR 0.80, 95% CI, 0.66–0.97; P =0.026). In addition, the birth weight in the embryo retention group was higher compared to the control group ( P =0.021). However, no differences were observed in terms of miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, cesarean delivery, as well as gestational age both before and after propensity score matching. Conclusion Embryo retention in the transfer catheter decreases the chance of biochemical pregnancy, clinical pregnancy, and live birth in FET cycles.
