Abstract:Using sulfonated and fluorinated poly (arylene ether ketone) comprising functional strong coordination group benzimidazole (SPAEK-F-BI) as a template film, a novel fabrication method of cobalt nanoflowers (CoNFs) and non-enzymatic glucose electrochemical sensor was developed in this work. After the precursors Co2+ ions were cooperatively bound by sulfonate and imidazole functionalities contained in SPAEK-F-BI film through ion exchange and strong coordination action, cobalt colloid nuclei were formed and grew to flower-like nanostructures by subsequent in-situ electrochemical reduction on SPAEK-F-BI film modified GCE. Characterization of SPAEK-F-BI film and CoNFs/SPAEK-F-BI film on GCE was performed in detail by FT-IR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) attached with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The results of SEM showed that beautiful CoNFs constructed by Co colloid nanosheets with just a few nanometers thickness were well dispersed on uniform SPAEK-F-BI film modified GCE, and the density of CoNFs was mainly influenced by the concentration of the precursor solution CoSO4. The CoNFs/SPAEK-F-BI composite modified electrode exhibited good electrocatalytic activity toward glucose oxidation in 0.1M NaOH solution, and the kinetic parameters of glucose oxidation were determined using chronoamperometry. When it was applied for the determination of glucose by amperometry at a potential of 0.6V versus Ag/AgCl, the linear range from 5μM to 1.14mM and the detection limit of 800nM (S/N = 3) were obtained. Finally, it was successfully employed to detect the glucose in human serum real samples, and the results were agreed closely with those measured in hospital.
Non-enzymatic glucose sensor based on mesoporous carbon sphere immobilized Co-MOF-74 nanocomposite

Abstract:Exploration of credible non-enzymatic glucose sensors with high selectivity and sensitivity is of great significance for early clinical monitoring glucose concentration and preventing the threat of diabetes to human health. Here, a mesoporous carbon sphere (MC) immobilized Co-MOF-74 nanorods (NRs) denoted as Co-MOF-74 NRs/MC was successfully prepared, in which the nanostructural porous carbon sphere was obtained using cobalt glycolate as the built-in template followed by a subsequent carbonization and acid treatment, and the MC spheres were then in situ deposited onto the surface of Co-MOF-74 NRs via a solvothermal method. Benefiting from the good conductivity of grafted porous carbon spheres and the abundant active sites, as well as permeability of microporous MOF-74 nanocrystals, the Co-MOF-74 NRs/MC modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) exhibited effective non-enzymatic glucose sensing performance with a fast response time (less than 3 s) and a glucose sensitivity of 98.0 μA cm -2 mM -1 . Furthermore, the Co-MOF-74 NRs/MC/GCE showed favourable anti-interference capability in the presence of various interferences and good long-term reusability. The applicability of Co-MOF-74 NRs/MC/GCE for glucose sensing in real serum samples was also investigated, verifying the applicability of the electrode for targeted glucose monitoring in practical applications.

Abstract:An ultrasensitive electrochemical glucose sensor was developed by hydrothermal growth of cobalt copper carbonate hydroxide nanowires (CCCH NWs) on copper foam (CF) and surface in situ growth of zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF-67) derived cobalt oxide (Co3O4) (Co3O4@CCCH NWs/CF). Benefitting from the large accessible surface area, the heterojunction between Co3O4 and CCCH NWs, as well as the high electrical conductivity of copper foam, the electrochemical properties of Co3O4@CCCH NWs/CF sensor were significantly improved. As demonstration, we achieved an ultra-high sensitivity of 16.01 μA/μM/cm2, a wide linear range of 0.001 ~ 2.0 mM, and remarkable fast response-recovery times (1.5 s and 1.3 s) for emzymeless glucose detection based on the optimized sensor. Moreover, the fabricated Co3O4@CCCH NWs/CF sensor has a good reproducibility, a long-term stability and anti-bending property for glucose detection. More interestingly, this sensor can be used to determine the glucose level of real serum samples, thereby providing a useful tool for enzymeless glucose monitoring.

Abstract:Constructing high-performance glucose sensors is of great significance for the prevention and diagnosis of diabetes, and the key is to develop new sensitive materials. In this paper, a series of Ni2Co1-L MOFs (L = H2BPDC: 4,4′-biphenyldicarboxylic acid; H2NDC: 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid; H2BDC: 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid) were synthesized by a room temperature stirring method. The effects of metal centers and ligands on the structure, compositions, electrochemical properties of the obtained Ni2Co1-L MOFs were characterized, indicating the successful preparation of layered MOFs with different sizes, stacking degrees, electrochemical active areas, numbers of exposed active sites, and glucose catalytic activity. Among them, Ni2Co1-BDC exhibits a relatively thin and homogeneous plate-like morphology, and the Ni2Co1-BDC modified glassy carbon electrode (Ni2Co1-BDC/GCE) has the highest electrochemical performance. Furthermore, the mechanism of the enhanced glucose oxidation signal was investigated. It was shown that glucose has a higher electron transfer capacity and a larger apparent catalytic rate constant on the Ni2Co1-BDC/GCE surface. Therefore, tunable non-enzymatic glucose electrochemical sensing was carried out by regulating the metal centers and ligands. As a result, a high-sensitivity enzyme-free glucose sensing platform was successfully constructed based on the Ni2Co1-BDC/GCE, which has a wide linear range of 0.5–2899.5 μM, a low detection limit of 0.29 μM (S/N = 3), and a high sensitivity of 3925.3 μA mM−1 cm−2. Much more importantly, it was also successfully applied to the determination of glucose in human serum with satisfactory results, demonstrating its potential for glucose detection in real samples.

Abstract:The glassy carbon electrode (GCE) embellished with porous Co3O4 as a non-enzymatic amperometric sensor is applied to the determination of glucose concentration. Spinel porous Co3O4 samples are synthesized by a facile coprecipitation method using sodium oxalate (SO) and ammonia water (AW) as different precipitants. The influence of the different precipitants on the morphology, structure, and catalytic performance is systematically studied. The electrochemical measurements reveal that the Co3O4 synthesized using sodium oxalate (SO) precipitant exhibits higher sensitivity of 1060.1 μA mM−1 cm−2 and better long-term stability with maintain in 90% after 30 days than the Co3O4 (37.25 μA mM−1 cm−2) synthesized using ammonia water (AW) precipitant. The limit of detection for Co3O4 (using SO as precipitant)/GCE is estimated to be 0.32 μM less than 0.51 μM of Co3O4 (using AW as precipitant)/GCE (S/N = 3). The reason may be that theCo3O4 (using SO as precipitant) has fluffy porous structure and higher specific surface area than the Co3O4 (using AW as precipitant), which can provide the large electroactive sites and improve the diffusion of electrolyte ions and reduces their diffusion resistance.

Abstract:Enzyme-free electrochemical glucose sensors have been attracting extensive attention, due to high sensitivity, excellent stability, and low cost, as compared to the conventional counterparts based on biological enzymes such as glucose oxidase. Within this context, development of low-cost, high-performance electrode catalysts represents a critical first step, and nanocomposites with atomically dispersed metal sites have emerged as viable candidates. In this study, nitrogen-doped carbon aerogel (NCA) embedded with CoN x sites is derived pyrolytically from biomass hydrogels and serves as an electrode catalyst for the detection of glucose. The three-dimensional porous skeletons of NCA help disperse the Co single atom sites and facilitate the mass transfer during electrochemical reaction. Theoretical calculations reveal that the single metal sites (CoN3 and CoN4) at the edge of nanopores show optimal adsorption towards glucose, and likely make a dominant contribution to the high activity in glucose detection. In electrochemical measurements, the NCA-Co based, enzyme-free glucose sensor shows a detection limit of 0.1 μM, with a wide linear range from 0.5 μM to 6 mM, good stability, high selectivity and excellent reproducibility. Notably, this sensing platform also exhibits an excellent performance in determining the glucose contents in artificial saliva and human serum samples, indicating great potential for practical applications.

Abstract:We demonstrate the fabrication of Co3O4 (derived from zeolitic imidazolate framework-67) wrapped Ag nanowires core-shell nanostructures, and support it on graphene matrix (Co3O4@Ag NWs-GR) to prepare enzymeless glucose sensor. The core-shell Co3O4@Ag nanowires possess porous surface and the proposed Co3O4@Ag NWs-GR nanocomposites exhibit hierarchical structure which could help to improve the performance of enzyme-free glucose detection. For practical application, the as-prepared Co3O4@Ag NWs-GR nanocomposites were sandwiched by nickel foam (NF) to develop a glucose detection electrode, which demonstrates good reproducibility and glucose specific selectivity. Then, the Co3O4@Ag NWs-GR/NF electrode was integrated with Pt wire, Ag/AgCl wire and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) to fabricate a sensitive device. The amperometric response of the as-developed device suggests that the Co3O4@Ag NWs-GR/NF based sensor presents a high sensitivity of 2.49 μA/μM/cm2 in the linear interval of 3–2000 μM, a detection limit of 0.98 μM, as well as an outstanding long-term stability. Additionally, the human serum was used to verify that the Co3O4@Ag NWs-GR based glucose sensor can detect the glucose level in serum, suggesting it is applicable to the enzymeless glucose determination.

Abstract:In this work, a convenient, low cost and fast detection of glucose (GO) in human blood has been investigated. For this purpose, a non-enzymatic sensor based on the hydrothermally prepared cobalt hydroxide nano-catalyst was fabricated and used for analysis of GO level in biological fluids. The electrochemical ability of the modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) for GO measuring was studied by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry assays. The chronoamperometric data indicate that the proposed sensing platform is capable of measuring changes in GO levels within a linear range of 1.5–460 μM and low detection limit of 0.8 μM. The cobalt hydroxide modified GCE depicts a significant resistant versus common interfering species such as fructose, cholesterol, ascorbic acid, l -cysteine and uric acid. In addition, the suggested GO sensor was employed for determination of analyte concentration in blood samples from athletes. This novel platform is characterized by its low price, simple operation, high anti-interference property and high sensitivity. The experimental results proved that the cobalt hydroxide modified GCE is an effective strategy for non-enzymatic GO detection in clinical applications.

In situ synthesis of self-supporting conductive CuCo-based bimetal organic framework for sensitive nonenzymatic glucose sensing in serum and beverage

Abstract:Most MOFs are associated with the inherent defect of low conductivity, limiting their further application in electrochemical sensing. Herein, a self-supporting conductive CuCo-based bimetal organic framework with HHTP as the organic ligand was in situ synthesized on carbon cloth via a one-step hydrothermal method, namely CuCo-MOF/CC. Benefiting from the advantages of electrical conductivity and bimetallic synergies, CuCo-MOF/CC exhibited remarkable electrocatalytic performance toward glucose. Consequently, the prepared sensor demonstrated an outstanding sensitivity of 9317 μA mM-1 cm-2, a wide range of 0.25-2374.5 μM, a low determination limit (0.27 μM), and a rapid response time (1.6 s). The reproducibility, stability, and selectivity were also proved to be satisfactory. Furthermore, the remarkable feasibility of proposed sensor was confirmed in serum and beverages. With the convenience of the one-step hydrothermal method and portability of self-supporting electrode, CuCo-MOF/CC has emerged as a promising candidate for commercial glucose sensors.
Facile synthesis of CuO–Co3O4 prickly-sphere-like composite for non-enzymatic glucose sensors

Abstract:In the field of glucose sensors, the development of inexpensive and high-efficiency electrochemical glucose sensors is the current research hotspot. In this paper, CuO–Co3O4 composite with a prickly-sphere-like morphology is prepared by the facile hydrothermal method for the non-enzymatic electrochemical glucose detection. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy are used to analyze the structure, composition, and morphology of the material. In addition, the electrochemical catalytic performance of CuO–Co3O4 to glucose is obtained by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The excellent electrochemical sensing performance may be attributed to the large number of catalytic sites in the prickly-sphere-like composite and the synergistic effect of Cu and Co. Under an applied voltage of 0.55 V, CuO–Co3O4 composite shows sensitivity to glucose (1503.45 μA·(mmol·L−1)−1·cm−2), a low detection limit (21.95 μmol·L−1), excellent selectivity, a high level of reproducibility, and good stability. This indicates that the CuO–Co3O4 composite has a broad prospect of non-enzymatic glucose sensing application.Graphical abstract

Abstract:In the growing pandemic, family healthcare is widely concerned with the increase of medical self-diagnosis away from the hospital. A cobalt metal-organic framework modified carbon cloth/paper (Co-MOF/CC/Paper) hybrid button-sensor was developed as a portable, robust, and user-friendly electrochemical analytical chip for nonenzymatic quantitative detection of glucose. Highly integrated electrochemical analytical chip was successfully fabricated with a flexible Co-MOF/CC sensing interface, effectively increasing the specific area and catalytic sites than the traditional plane electrode. Based on the button-sensor, rapid quantitative detection of glucose was achieved in multiple complex bio-matrixes, such as serum, urine, and saliva, with desired selectivity, stability, and durability. With the advantages of low cost, high environment tolerance, ease of production, our nanozyme-based electrochemical analytical chip achieved reliable nonenzymatic electrocatalysis, has great potential for the application of rapid on-site analysis in personalized diagnostic and disease prevention.

Abstract:Electrochemical non-enzyme sensors based on metal and metal oxide nanocomposites are still a new challenge and a huge potential area. In this work, a ternary flower-like Cu2O-Cu-Au (CCAu) was designed and constructed as electrochemical material for glucose detection. In which, under the combined action of hydroxide ions and persulfate ions, several micrometer-long radial Cu(OH)2 branches were grown on the surface of the Cu sphere precursor. And then Au nanoparticles decorated Cu2O-Cu ternary nanocomposites formed by heat treatment and surface loading. As active materials for the electrochemical non-enzymatic glucose detection, the CCAu modified electrode showed a sensitivity of 1.082 mAmM−1cm−2 and a detection limit of 1.71 uM. The good performance of CCAu/GCE can be attributed to the compound and synergistic effect of Cu and Cu2O builds a mixed valence Cu0/Cu+, the special surface area and triple active substances with many active centers, and the dendritic structure which is conducive for the penetration of electrolyte. In addition, the CCAu electrode showed a performance comparable to that of a commercial analyzer in testing the blood glucose concentration in human serum, indicating that it has a great potential in the practical electrochemical sensors.

Abstract:The porous cobaltosic oxide (Co3O4) arrays has been prepared by a chemical co-precipitation route using the nickel foam as s substrate. Cyclic voltammetry (CV), and ampere current method (i-t curve) are used to explore the non-enzymatic glucose sensor in a three-electrode system. This porous Co3O4 array non-enzymatic sensor shows a sensitivity of 592.8 mA mM1 cm2 in concentration from 0.99 M to 1.073 mM. The porous Co3O4 array sensor electrode also showed low LOD value (0.005 M) and fast response time (4 s). This porous Co3O4 electrode shows a good sensor performance due to these rich redox reaction sites in the unique porous structure. This porous cobaltosic oxide arrays maybe a potential sensor material in the glucose detection application

Abstract:Hybrid transition metals/metal oxides/carbon bases with adjustable structures are becoming more and more important and attractive as electrode materials for electrocatalysis of glucose. Herein, we demonstrate the fabrication of carbon encapsulated hollow cage NiCo-NiCoO2 composite (NiCo-NiCoO2/C), which were synthesized by a two-step procedure involving preparation of nickel-cobalt Prussian blue analogue (Ni-Co PBA) derivative (NiO-NiCo2O4) and an organic carbon source, and the synthesis of the nanocomposite at 400°C for direct carbonization and reduction process in an Ar atmosphere. As a multi-component electrocatalyst for glucose oxidation in alkaline solution, the unique structure provides a large accessible surface area, while the uniformly distributed NiCoO2, NiCo, and C effectively catalyze and facilitate the glucose reaction. The sensitivity of the catalyst were 340.4 μA mM−1 cm−2 and 56.1 μA mM−1 cm−2 in the linear concentration ranges of 0.1 μM-600 μM and 0.9 mM-6.3 mM, respectively, and the LOD was 0.03 μM with good reproducibility and long-term stability. Besides, the effective performance of the sensor material in detecting glucose in real human serum has been recognized. The NiCo-NiCoO2/C annealed at an appropriate temperature has high electronic conductivity, large surface area, and faster ion/electron transfer at the electrode and electrolyte-electrode interface, resulting in a higher electrocatalytic oxidation of glucose ability.

MOF-Derived Bimetallic CoFe-PBA Composites as Highly Selective and Sensitive Electrochemical Sensors for Hydrogen Peroxide and Nonenzymatic Glucose in Human Serum

Abstract:The fabrication of two-dimensional (2D) metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) combines the advantages of 2D materials, MOFs and PBAs, resolving the poor electronic conductivity and slow diffusion of MOF materials for electrochemical applications. In this work, 2D leaflike zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (Co-ZIF and Fe-ZIF) as sacrificial templates are in situ converted into PBAs, realizing the successful fabrication of PBA/ZIF nanocomposites on nickel foam (NF), namely, CoCo-PBA/Co-ZIF/NF, FeFe-PBA/Fe-ZIF/NF, CoFe-PBA/Co-ZIF/NF, and Fe/CoCo-PBA/Co-ZIF/NF. Such fabrication can effectively reduce transfer resistance and greatly enhance electron- and mass-transfer efficiency due to the electrochemically active PBA particles and NF substrate. These fabricated electrodes as multifunctional sensors achieve highly selective and sensitive glucose and H2O2 biosensing with a very wide detective linear range, extremely low limit of detection (LOD), and good stability. Among them, CoFe-PBA/Co-ZIF/NF exhibits the best sensing performance with a very wide linear range from 1.4 μM to 1.5 mM, a high sensitivity of 5270 μA mM–1 cm–2, a low LOD of 0.02 μM (S/N = 3), and remarkable stability and selectivity toward glucose. What is more, it can realize excellent detection of glucose in human serum, demonstrating its practical applications. Furthermore, this material as a multifunctional electrochemical sensor also manifests superior detection performance against hydrogen peroxide with a wide linear range of 0.2–6.0 mM, a high sensitivity of 196 μA mM–1 cm–2, and a low limit of detection of 1.08 nM (S/N = 3). Abstract:A newly developed nonenzymatic eletrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensor for the determination of glucose using the Au-HS/SO3H-PMO (Et) nanocomposites is demonstrated. Introduction of Au in periodic mesoporous organosilic (PMO) leads to the strengthening of electrocatalytic performance. As a new platform in glucose analysis, the resultant sensor shows a linear range from 0.10μM to 1.0mM (R=0.9999) with a detection limit of 2.5×10−8M and a sensitivity of 6.45×102μA mM−1 cm−2. Moreover, the proposed sensor exhibited the excellent reproducibility, stability, and selectivity for the detection of glucose. Furthermore, it is successfully utilized for the determination of glucose in human serum samples with good application potential in biological electrochemistry.

Abstract:<h2>Abstract</h2>Herein, we demonstrated the development of a non-enzymatic glucose sensor based on a metal azolate framework (MAF-4-CoII or Co(mim)2, mim = 2-methylimidazole)-modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The as-synthesized MAF-4-CoII exhibited high crystallinity, purity, and chemical and electrochemical stability, which was characterized by various analytical methods. The MAF-4-CoII exhibited good redox activity in the alkaline medium due to the formation of MAF-4-CoII/MAF-4-CoIII redox pair, which concurrently induced the non-enzymatic oxidation of glucose to gluconolactone. The MAF-4-CoII/GCE sensor exhibited wide dynamic ranges in the concentration range from 2 to 50 μM and 100 to 1800 μM with high sensitivity (ca. 990.90 and 30.95 μA/cm2/mM, respectively), low detection limit (ca. 0.60 μM), reproducibility, and selectivity. The practical applicability of this sensor was evaluated using diluted human serum samples, which revealed excellent recoveries of glucose. Thus, MAF-4-CoII can be used as a promising electrocatalyst for non-enzymatic detection of glucose with high stability.

An efficient biosensor using a functionalized microneedle of Cu2O-based CoCu-LDH for glucose detection

Abstract:Glucose detection with small and micro volume sampling has recently received increasing attention in monitoring personal health. Herein, a cauliflower-type cluster of Cu2O nanoparticles (NPs) was directly deposited on the tip surface of a stainless steel acupuncture needle electrode (ANE) by electrochemical deposition, and then this pre-formed cuprous basis was used to further prepare the neatly arranged CoCu-layered double hydroxide (CoCu-LDH) nanosheets that interconnected to form nano-sized pores in the range from 100 to 500 nm. The microstructure and spectral characteristics of the surface modification materials were comprehensively characterized by FE-SEM, EDS, XRD, FT-IR and TEM. Cu2O-based CoCu-LDH composites with special morphology had been proven to accelerate the rate of electron transport and provide more available active centers, and moreover, the mixed valence of Cu/Co induced an excellent synergism for the electrocatalytic oxidation of glucose. As a result, CoCu-LDH/Cu2O/ANE as a sensitive glucose probe exhibited two wider linear ranges of 0.03-0.40 mM and 0.40-6.00 mM, with sensitivities of 116.13 μA mM-1 and 52.08 μA mM-1, respectively, and the detection limit as low as 0.46 μM (S/N = 3). The response time only took 3 s and it kept working stably in the interference of ascorbic acid (AA), dopamine (DA), uric acid (UA), and Cl-. In the stability test, the CoCu-LDH/Cu2O/ANE sensor exhibited a stable monitoring sensitivity after 15 days. Finally, the CoCu-LDH/Cu2O/ANE sensor had been successfully applied to glucose analysis in human serum, proving that our design was an attractive strategy for developing a portable, minimally invasive, and low-cost non-enzymatic electrochemical glucose sensing platform.

Abstract:The direct growth of transition metal phosphides with a highly accessible surfaces and copper electroactive centers can be considered as an efficient method to modify the electrode surface and use them as an electrochemical sensor. Herein, a direct, efficient, low-cost and rapid method is used for growing core–shell nanostructures of CuCoP nanosheets on Cu(OH)2 nanotubes (pre-deposited on glassy carbon electrode). The Cu(OH)2 nanotubes act as a conductive intermediate and directing agent to obtain CuCoP@Cu(OH)2 core–shell structure. The growth of CuCoP on Cu(OH)2 nanotubes provides structural stability and large surface area as well as increases the availability of the catalytic sites for diffusion of analyte species and electrolyte ions into the electrode surface, leading to excellent electrocatalytic performance towards glucose electro-oxidation. The amperometric studies of glucose for electrode modified with CuCoP@Cu(OH)2 showed two linear ranges of 0.001 mM to 0.105 mM and 0.105 mM to 2.530 mM with very high sensitivities of 8351 and 3932 μA/mM.cm2, respectively. Also, the fabricated sensing platform exhibited excellent selectivity and resistance to chloride ion poisoning, good reproducibility and repeatability, as well as low detection limit of 2.3 μM. In addition, the modified electrode showed a very quick reaction time of 2 s. Finally, to assess the usability of the designed non-enzymatic sensor in practical applications, the as-prepared nanocomposite was examined for measuring the glucose content in biological samples such as human blood serum, saliva, and beverage samples. The outcomes showed that the designed platform can be used as a reliable and efficient sensor for accurate detection and measurement of glucose in real samples.

Abstract:An effective biosensor based on two-dimensional (2D) Co-ZIF-L nanosheets for sensitive electrochemical non-enzymatic glucose detection is developed, which exhibits high electrocalalytic activities towards glucose due to the ordered porous structure as well as ultrahigh specific surface area. The fabricated Co-ZIF-L nanosheets electrodes present an outstanding performance with higher sensitivity of 769.5 *10$^{-6}$ A mM$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$ and lower detect limit of 90.4 nM, while the constructed 3D ZIF-67 nanoparticles electrodes show a weaker sensitivity of 697.4 *10$^{-6}$ A mM$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$ and a limited detection range from 2 *10$^{-6}$ M to 414 *10$^{-6}$ M. Furthermore, the Co-ZIF-L based non-enzymatic glucose biosensors possess an acceptable selectivity, long-term stability as well as reproducibility. This work may offer a new approach to develop 2D ZIF nanosheets as a potential candidate in electrochemical biosensors.
