Abstract:The relevance of the study is determined by the fact that Chinese painting is at least five thousand years old. Throughout history, Chinese artists have used light pink, gold and black colors in their work. The paper shows that sumi-e (Chinese national ink wash painting) is different from the European one. The authors show that calligraphy is inextricably linked to painting, use the same lines, materials, and tools. In China, paintings are not only artistic but also a literary style. The novelty of the study is determined by the fact that the authors of the paper highlight the aspect of the execution of oil painting without preliminary sketches. The expressiveness inherent in Chinese art is achieved through four values of the artist. It is revealed that each artist attaches great importance to the choice of their professional tools and approaches it with an increased level of responsibility. The practical significance of the study is in the fact that the paper shows the possibility of developing the culture of traditional oil painting. It is shown that two opposites must be combined at the same time: dark and light, large and small, dry and wet, short and long, rare and frequent.

Abstract:Landscape painting was independent from figure painting in the Sui Dynasty of China. At first, it was “Blue-and-Green Landscape” which was characterized with color expression. It matured in the Tang Dynasty and developed in the Song Dynasty. Then, the literati painters in the Tang Dynasty pioneered literati painting, with “Light Crimson Landscape” or “Ink Landscape” to lead landscape painting from realism to freehand, and established a combination of poetry, calligraphy, painting and seal. Then the literati in the Song Dynasty lent sparkle to the replacement of heavy green color with light crimson ink painting, and that became the mainstream of landscape painting. On this basis, the Yuan Dynasty painters developed a complete landscape painting formula, pushing the landscape expression to the peak. In the Ming and Qing dynasties, imitating the ancient style dominated the landscape painting world. At the same time, some painters pursued originality, forming the situation that the two forces were opposed in the same literati painting category. In modern times, due to the influence of Western culture, the traditional landscape painting has undergone great changes, and the new social life has prompted major changes in the content, form and method of landscape painting creation. Traditional techniques are combined with scientific modeling while ink and color complement each other, and the development of landscape painting has presented a diversified, rich, positive and prosperous appearance.

With the rise of ink painting and the development of literati painting, the expression of landscape painting gradually transformed, green and heavy colors gradually lost their dominant position, and ink painting gradually became the dominant style in the Chinese painting world, with the use of color gradually weakening. Especially in the Song and Yuan Dynasties. Abstract:The purpose of the article is to study the approaches and models of color as a pictorial principle in modern Chinese painting. The article is devoted to the actual problem of the study of the artistic language of painting. In Chinese art history, it has several forms of representation. However, one of the key themes is the role of color as a central pictorial principle in contemporary fine art. The study of the role of color in painting is based on the analysis of the formal and compositional-plastic features of artwork. At the same time, color is an important factor in the interpretation of artistic signs and symbols of a particular author. The selection of color from and a number of other elements of the artistic language is associated with the influence of the traditional artistic system in the art of China on the practice of modernization. In many professional studies, we can come across an opinion about the practical significance of tonal and color solutions for substantiating the artistic imagery of a work and its ideological and aesthetic meaning. The methodology. For the analysis of sources we used the method of comparative analysis and the method of typology. Visual sources are analyzed with the use of methodological, formal, compositional and figurative-stylistic analysis. The results. In modern Chinese studies, the problem of color is a completely independent area, which is of universal importance for the analysis of the evolution of fine art. As a visual principle, the subject matter is considered within two approaches: 1) figurative-plastic, where the central place is occupied by tonal and color features in the context of the search for form and composition; 2) emotional-figurative, where the central place is occupied by the perception of color and the interpretation of the signs and symbols of the work. Within the framework of the first approach, three research models dominate: 1) figurative and artistic model, which is characterized by the ability of color to change within the framework of the author’s style idea; 2) the symbolic model focuses the artist’s attention on cultural and historical references; 3) the decorative-figurative model positions the problem of color as a matter of color morphology, as well as the use of traditional decor techniques along with oil painting methods. Within the framework of the second approach, the sign-emotive and semantic-emotive models are the main ones. The first model represents color as a factor of the author’s sign space. The second model is a tool for studying color as a part of a sign artistic language. This artistic language regulates the specific meaning of the aesthetic essence of color (for example, red in traditional symbolism is a sign of power). In this model, the semiotic feature of color is enhanced by the emotional nature of painting techniques. The scientific novelty. The article substantiates the concept of color in painting as the main pictorial principle in the contemporary fine arts of China. The research approaches of Chinese art critics are summarized.

Abstract:In the history of the development of Chinese painting, the change of “Shen” and “Yi” has always been a topic of discussion. From the Wei and Jin Dynasties to the Song and Yuan Dynasties, from the emphasis on the “Shen” to the “Yi”, reflecting the development of Chinese painting constantly absorbing and innovating. Taking Gu Kaizhi and Ni Zan as representatives, this paper analyzes the painting theories and painting styles of painters from two different eras to demonstrate the relationship and change of “Shen” and “Yi”, and to consider the direction of the development of the contemporary painting appraisal system.

Abstract:This article examines differing conceptions of 'form' in Western and Chinese landscape traditions, leading to critical perspectives on contemporary Chinese landscape painting. The paper argues that Chinese oil landscapes tend to be conservative, while ink landscapes are more experimental. Furthermore, Western Formalism can be shown to influence Chinese landscape painting, expanding possibilities for both oil and ink contemporary works. Nonetheless, a longer tradition equally persists. Su Shi (1037–1101), for example, who prefigures the literati painting approach, remains an enduring influence. The scholarly style, experimental during the Song Dynasty, conveys a painting's spiritual expression over precise techniques. An examination across Western and Chinese traditions enables a genealogical reading of form in the work of contemporary Chinese artists, bridging history and modernity, Western and Eastern styles, and accounting for differing approaches to form.

Abstract:Chinese fine art has undergone a long and painstaking history of the formation of classical writing techniques. However, the globalization processes, which also affected the spheres of artistic activity, influenced the themes of works, techniques and techniques of oil painting in China. Meanwhile, the existential and religious flavor of Tibetan painting, untouched by world trends, has preserved many unique traditional principles of existentialism and worldview concepts that have absorbed the virginity of the spiritual and semantic identity of the people. This phenomenon has attracted a lot of attention from professional artists and collectors of fine art. At the same time, the storehouse of unique Buddhist values and the foundations of the existence of the people of historical Tibet began to attract researchers and artists relatively recently. Namely, since the middle of the last century, eminent masters of the brush have only discovered this “art residence”, instantly capturing the market of connoisseurs of high culture and lovers of painting with their works, gaining their love for Tibetan chronography reflected in modern Chinese oil paintings. The canvases represent the value potential for the historiography of the ancient people, conglomerating the foundations of ontological, ethnic, regional, national and religious traditions of the original style, which determine the semantic value-forming core of Chinese culture. This phenomenon contributes to its continuity and self-identity, despite the influence of Western artists. The development of Chinese oil painting has undergone many collisions, ranging from Westernization, Russification and the consequences of the war with Japan, ending with the discovery of the value potential of the worldview system of the Tibetan people. The recognition of Chinese sovereignty over Tibet allowed China to integrate into its “art workshop” the spiritual and social perspectives of the national identical Tibetan culture, which conquered the art world with its identity. In the process of the formation of oil painting, artists subjected it to nationalization and Sinification, which, through the prism of depicting the realities of Tibetan life, allowed to form an original style of creating works.

Abstract:A strikingly similar picture of reality is found in different backgrounds between Western oil painting and Chinese poetry in light of the collision and comparison between Chinese and Western cultures in Western oil painting and Chinese poetry. One using poetry and the other using painting, though separated by thousands of years and thousands of mountains. It demonstrates how cultural profundity and tolerance bring different forms of expression to art. We hope to encourage the development of future research, as well as the different forms of artistic expression of culture, anticipating future breakthroughs in art.

Abstract:Oil painting is a foreign type of painting that was introduced to China in the early 20th century, and has since blended and collided with traditional Chinese culture. In this process, oil painting also formed an independent artistic language different from Western painting, and freehand brushwork was explored by Chinese painters through borrowing, absorbing, and constantly innovating. Abstract:In this work, we have developed an approach to include global illumination effects into Chinese Paintings (see Figure 1). Our method provides a robust approach to represent tone and value in a way similar to how Chinese Ink-and-Brush is painted. The method, especially, supports reflection, shadow, atmospheric, depth and weathering effects. Using the method, we can recapture the aesthetic of irregularity in shapes and forms commonly seen in Chinese Painting. We also arrange composition in 3D to obtain multi-camera imagee that matches the compositions in Chinese painting. We also included cinematic lighting aesthetic in 3D Chinese painting to enhance mood and storytelling.

Abstract:painting acts as a source of replenishment for the holdings of most museums. Unlike realism or other traditional styles of painting, abstraction does not always allow for changes in external form and internal content. This article is relevant, as when considering the essence of an abstract picture, its main meaning is the search for internal contradiction or semantics in an implicit form. The purpose of this work is to study Chinese abstract painting and the possibilities of its application as a source of traditional art. The novelty of the study is determined by the fact that the authors of the paper consider Chinese pictorial art as a source of transmission of philosophical and social motives, with respect to development of a technogenic society. The paper provides the possibilities of forming a figurative system in abstract painting and the possibility of searching for an analogue on the part of the symbolic system of fine art. The practical significance of the study is determined by the fact that the application of classifiers and systematisers to Chinese painting makes it possible to determine its components as a part of the global cultural and artistic heritage.
