Abstract:Lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) catalyze the oxidative cleavage of glycosidic bonds in recalcitrant polysaccharides, such as cellulose and chitin, using a single copper cofactor bound in a conserved histidine brace with a more variable second coordination sphere.
