Abstract:Prediction of tropical cyclone (TC) intensity using remote sensing imagery can provide early warning to coastal areas to avoid economic losses and human casualties. Accurate TC intensity prediction requires high-quality remote sensing images. In recent years, deep learning based on remote sensing images has been applied to TC intensity prediction with great success, but most of them ignore the key physical information that affects TC intensity. To this end, we propose an integrated framework for tropical cyclone data enhancement and analysis to provide remote sensing images with high spatial and spatial resolution and to predict the maximum sustained wind (MSW) speed of cyclones. Constraining the output sharpened images by spatial and spectral edge loss can preserve the meaningful information in multispectral images (MSIs) during the image sharpening process. Deep mixing of convolutional neural networks and low-rank tensor analysis can identify cloud-shaped features in the spatial domain and extract the inherent low-rank features of multispectral images in the spectral domain, improving prediction accuracy and physical interpretability. Experimental results for FY4A dataset show that the sharpening metric peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR) and the prediction metric mean absolute error (MAE) of the proposed framework are 40.07 and 3.335 m/s, respectively, outperforming the state-of-the-art sharpening and intensity prediction models by 5.4% and 10.9%, respectively.
