Residents' Life Satisfaction and Community Construction in Ancient Villages Tourism: A Case Study of a World Cultural Heritage, the Ancient Villages in South Anhui Province

Abstract:Inspired by market demand and government strategy, ancient villages have gradually become an important type of tourism destination in China. The paper makes a case study of the ancient villages in south Anhui province. With the data collected it applies mean analysis, correlation analysis and matrix analysis methods to analyze ancient village residents' life satisfaction and its influential factors, and proposes a focus and direction for future community construction in ancient villages. The result of the analysis indicates that: a. five factors, namely housing condition, economic income, the level of education, the participation of villagers in community decision making, and social welfare and security, should be the focus of community construction; b. seven factors, such as village feature, road and traffic, sanitation, physical environment, infrastructure, fire facilities, and medical services, need immediate strengthening; c. six factors including price level, recreation facilities, employment opportunities, the efficiency of local government, public leisure space, and sports facilities can be improved or added on a gradual base; d. interpersonal relation, shopping convenience and social security call for continuous maintenance.
