Abstract:The choroid plexus (CP) is a highly vascularized structure in the brain composed of a dense network of fenestrated capillary loops. Beyond forming a barrier/interface between the blood and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) compartments, the CP has been identified as a modulator of leukocyte trafficking and inflammation. 1 In recent years, studies of various central nervous system (CNS) diseases (including stroke, multiple sclerosis, neurological infections, and neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders) have shown that CP inflammation may play a role in the development and/or progression of CNS diseases. 1–5
