Abstract:We study the mappings satisfying the so-called inverse Poletsky inequality. Abstract:The article is devoted to the study of mappings that distort the modulus of families of paths according to the Poletsky inequality type. At the boundary points of the domain, we have obtained an estimate of the distance distortion for such mappings provided that their characteristic has finite integral averages over the balls, and the image domain of mappings is Ahlfors regular and such that the Poincare inequality holds. The manuscript considers the cases of homeomorphisms and mappings with branching, as well as definition domains with good boundaries and domains with prime ends.

Abstract:The manuscript is devoted to the boundary behavior of mappings with bounded and finite distortion. We consider mappings of domains of the Euclidean space that satisfy weighted Poletsky inequality. Assume that, the definition domain is finitely connected on its boundary and, in addition, on the set of all points which are pre-images of the cluster set of this boundary. Then the specified mappings have a continuous boundary extension provided that the majorant in the Poletsky inequality satisfies some integral divergence condition, or has a finite mean oscillation at every boundary point.

Abstract:The manuscript is devoted to the boundary behavior of mappings with bounded and finite distortion, which has been actively studied recently. We consider mappings of domains of the Euclidean space that satisfy the inverse Poletsky inequality with an integrable majorant, are open, and discrete. Assume that the image of the boundary of the original domain is finitely connected relative to the mapped domain, and the preimage of the boundary of the latter is nowhere a dense set. Then, under certain conditions on the geometry of these domains, it is proved that the specified mappings have a continuous boundary extension. The result is valid even in a more general form, when the majorant in the inverse Poletsky inequality is integrable over almost all concentric spheres centered at each point. In particular, the obtained results are valid for homeomorphisms as well as for open discrete closed mappings with the appropriate modulus condition.

Abstract:<p class="a-plus-plus">The paper is devoted to the study of mappings satisfying the inverse Poletsky inequality. We study the local behavior of these mappings. We are most interested in the case when the corresponding majorant is integrable on some set of spheres of positive linear measure. Our main result is a logarithmic Hölder continuity of such mappings at inner points. As a corollary, we have established the existence of a continuous <em class="a-plus-plus">ACL</em>-solution of the Beltrami equation, which is logarithmic Hölder continuous.</p>

Abstract:This article addresses the problem of boundary correspondence for a sequence of homeomorphisms that change the capacity of a condenser in a controlled way. To study the overall boundary behavior of these mappings, we introduce some capacity metrics in a sequence of domains with nondegenerate core. Completions with respect to these metrics add to the domains new points called boundary elements. As one of the consequences, we obtain not only sufficient conditions for the global uniform convergence of a sequence of homeomorphisms, but some applications to elasticity theory as well.

Abstract:The classes of -smooth domains bounded by a contour that is Lyapunov outside any neighborhood of its certain point such that the derivative of a conformal mapping onto the unit disk is continuous at this point are described. The description is given in terms of some spaces for a unit tangent vector on the boundary contour. Corresponding results for piecewise smooth domains are obtained as a consequence.

Abstract:We consider mappings satisfying an upper bound for the distortion of families of curves. We establish lower bounds for the distortion of distances under such mappings. As applications, we obtain theorems on the discreteness of the limit mapping of a sequence of mappings converging locally uniformly. We separately consider cases when mappings are defined in Euclidean $n$-dimensional space and in a metric space.

Abstract:This article establishes the boundary Hölder continuity of stable solutions to semilinear elliptic problems in the optimal range of dimensions $n \leq 9$, for $C^{1,1}$ domains. We consider equations $- L u = f(u)$ in a bounded $C^{1,1}$ domain $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^n$, with $u = 0$ on $\partial \Omega$, where $L$ is a linear elliptic operator with variable coefficients and $f \in C^1$ is nonnegative, nondecreasing, and convex. The stability of $u$ amounts to the nonnegativity of the principal eigenvalue of the linearized equation $- L - f'(u)$. Our result is new even for the Laplacian, for which [Cabré, Figalli, Ros-Oton, and Serra, Acta Math. 224 (2020)] proved the Hölder continuity in $C^3$ domains.

Abstract:There are many classical results, related to the Denjoy--Wolff Theorem, concerning the relationship between orbits of interior points and orbits of boundary points under iterates of holomorphic self-maps of the unit disc. Here, for the first time, we address such questions in the very general setting of sequences $(F_n)$ of holomorphic maps between simply connected domains. We show that, while some classical results can be generalised, with an interesting dependence on the geometry of the domains, a much richer variety of behaviours is possible. Some of our results are new even in the classical setting. Our methods apply in particular to non-autonomous dynamical systems, when $(F_n)$ are forward compositions of holomorphic maps, and to the study of wandering domains in holomorphic dynamics. The proofs use techniques from geometric function theory, measure theory and ergodic theory, and the construction of examples involves a `weak independence' version of the second Borel--Cantelli lemma and the concept from ergodic theory of `shrinking targets'.

On the logarithmic type boundary modulus of continuity for the Stefan problem

Abstract:A logarithmic type modulus of continuity is established for weak solutions to a two-phase Stefan problem, up to the parabolic boundary of a cylindrical space-time domain. For the Dirichlet problem, we merely assume that the spatial domain satisfies a measure density property, and the boundary datum has a logarithmic type modulus of continuity. For the Neumann problem, we assume that the lateral boundary is smooth, and the boundary datum is bounded. The proofs are measure theoretical in nature, exploiting De Giorgi's iteration and refining DiBenedetto's approach. Based on the sharp quantitative estimates, construction of continuous weak (physical) solutions is also indicated. The logarithmic type modulus of continuity has been conjectured to be optimal as a structural property for weak solutions to such partial differential equations.

Abstract:We consider mappings that distort the modulus of families of paths in the opposite direction in the manner of Poletsky's inequality. Here we study the case when the mappings are not closed, in particular, they do not preserve the boundary of the domain under the mapping. Under certain conditions, we obtain results on the continuous boundary extension of such mappings in the sense of prime ends. In addition, we obtain corresponding results on the equicontinuity of families of such mappings in terms of prime ends.

Abstract:We prove sharp boundary H{ö}lder regularity for solutions to equations involving stable integro-differential operators in bounded open sets satisfying the exterior $C^{1,\text{dini}}$-property. This result is new even for the fractional Laplacian. A Hopf-type boundary lemma is proven, too. An additional feature of this work is that the regularity estimate is robust as $s\to 1-$ and we recover the classical results for second order equations.

Abstract:As is known, the local behavior of maps is one of the most important problems of analysis. This, in particular, relates to the study of mappings with bounded and finite distortion, which have been actively studied recently. As for this work, here we solve the problem of the behavior of maps, the inverse of which satisfies the Poletsky inequality. The main result is the statement about the equicontinuity of the indicated mappings inside the domain in the case when the majorant corresponding to the distortion of the module under the mapping is integrable in the original domain. It should be emphasized that the proof of this result is largely geometric, at the same time, it uses only the conditions of boundedness of the direct and mapped domains and does not involve any requirements on their boundaries. The study of families of mappings inverse to a given class may turn out to be trivial if we are talking about quasiconformal mappings. In the latter case, we do not go beyond the limits of the class under study in the transition to inverse maps. Nevertheless, when studying mappings with unbounded characteristic, this question is quite substantial, as simple examples of the corresponding classes show. The idea of the proof of the main result is based on the fact that the inner points of an arbitrary domain are weakly flat. The last statement can be called the Väisälä lemma, which was established in his monograph and related to families of curves joining two continua between the plates of a spherical condenser. The proof is also based on the fact that the module of families of curves joining two converging continua in a good domain must tend to infinity. In this case, the neighborhood of some inner point of the mapped domain serves as ''good'' region, in which we check the equicontinuity of the inverse family of maps. The results of this article are applicable to many other classes of mappings such as mappings with a finite distortion in the sense of Iwaniec, Sobolev classes on the plane and in space, and so on.

Boundary unique continuation in planar domains by conformal mapping

Abstract:Let $\Omega\subset\mathbb R^2$ be a chord arc domain. We give a simple proof of the the following fact, which is commonly known to be true: a nontrivial harmonic function which vanishes continuously on a relatively open set of the boundary cannot have the norm of the gradient which vanishes on a subset of positive surface measure (arc length). This result is conjectured to be true in higher dimensions by Lin, in Lipschitz domains. Let now $\Omega\subset\mathbb R^2$ be a $C^1$ domain with Dini mean oscillations. We prove that a nontrivial harmonic function which vanishes continuously on a relatively open subset of the boundary $\partial\Omega\cap B_1$ has a finite number of critical points in $\overline\Omega\cap B_{1/2}$. The latter improves some recent results by Kenig and Zhao. Our technique involves a conformal mapping which moves the boundary where the harmonic function vanishes into an interior nodal line of a new harmonic function, after a further reflection. Then, size estimates of the critical set - up to the boundary - of the original harmonic function can be understood in terms of estimates of the \emph{interior} critical set of the new harmonic function and of the critical set - up to the boundary - of the conformal mapping.
