Abstract:
Agricultural chemicals have been widely utilized to manage pests, weeds, and plant pathogens for maximizing crop yields. However, the excessive use of these organic substances to compensate their instability in the environment has caused severe environmental consequences, threatened human health, and consumed enormous economic costs. In order to improve the utilization efficiency of these agricultural chemicals, one strategy that attracted researchers is to design novel eco‐friendly nanoplatforms. To date, numerous advanced nanoplatforms with functional components have been applied in the agricultural field, such as silica‐based materials for pesticides delivery, metal/metal oxide nanoparticles for pesticides/mycotoxins detection, and carbon nanoparticles for fertilizers delivery. In this review, the synthesis, applications, and mechanisms of recent eco‐friendly nanoplatforms in the agricultural field, including pesticides and mycotoxins on‐site detection, phytopathogen inactivation, pest control, and crops growth regulation for guaranteeing food security, enhancing the utilization efficiency of agricultural chemicals and increasing crop yields are highlighted. The review also stimulates new thinking for improving the existing agricultural technologies, protecting crops from biotic and abiotic stress, alleviating the global food crisis, and ensuring food security. In addition, the challenges to overcome the constrained applications of functional nanoplatforms in the agricultural field are also discussed.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problems that this paper attempts to solve mainly focus on the following aspects: 1. **The problem of excessive use of agricultural chemicals**: - The paper points out that although traditional agricultural chemicals (such as herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and fertilizers) have played an important role in increasing crop yields and meeting the global population growth's demand for food, their excessive use has led to serious environmental consequences, threatened human health and caused huge economic costs. - More than 90% of the excessively used agricultural chemicals fail to reach the target organisms, but are lost through volatilization, combination with minerals or organic matter in the soil or infiltration into water bodies, etc. This not only reduces the utilization efficiency of the chemicals, but also leads to environmental pollution and ecological destruction. 2. **The problem of mycotoxin contamination**: - Mycotoxins, as secondary metabolites produced by certain fungal species, are a serious contamination. Approximately 25% of the world's crops are contaminated by mycotoxins, resulting in an annual crop reduction of about 1 billion tons. - Ingesting agricultural products contaminated by mycotoxins poses a serious threat to human health and may lead to cancer and other neurological diseases. 3. **The impact of plant pathogens**: - Plant pathogens (including fungi, bacteria and viruses) have caused huge losses to crop yields. Globally, about 30% - 40% of crops are lost annually due to plant health problems. - For example, asparagus stem blight, caused by the fungus Phomopsis asparagi, has seriously affected the global trade of asparagus. 4. **The impact of abiotic stresses on crops**: - Due to the fixed lifestyle of crops, they are often faced with abiotic stresses such as drought, salinity, extreme temperatures, nutrient deficiencies and heavy metal pollution, which seriously threaten agricultural productivity. - Although crops have evolved a series of characteristics to adapt to harsh natural environments, many studies are still exploring stress - resistant genes in crops to improve their stress - resistant abilities. 5. **The development of environmentally - friendly nano - platforms**: - In order to meet the above challenges, researchers have designed a variety of environmentally - friendly nano - platforms. These platforms have unique properties and can be used for on - site detection of pesticides and mycotoxins, inactivation of plant pathogens, pest control and crop growth regulation. - The application of these nano - platforms helps to improve the utilization efficiency of agricultural chemicals, reduce environmental pollution, ensure food safety and increase crop yields. In conclusion, this paper aims to explore how to solve the problems of excessive use of traditional agricultural chemicals, mycotoxin contamination, the impact of plant pathogens and the impact of abiotic stresses on crops through the development and application of environmentally - friendly nano - platforms, so as to achieve sustainable agricultural development.
