Abstract:Preeclampsia (PE) is defined by high blood pressure accompanied by protein in the urine. According to contemporary estimates, PE and its repercussions result in over 30,000 fatalities of women every year, with most of these deaths occurring in developing nations. [ 1 ] The estimated contribution of PE to perinatal loss ranges from 10% to 25%. [ 2 , 3 ] In an Iraqi study, the prevalence of PE was 4.79% among a total of 24,783 women, [ 4 ] which was higher than neighboring countries such as Iran (4%) [ 5 ] and Jordan (1.3%) [ 6 ] and higher than other developing countries such as Angola (0.85%), Niger (1.08%), [ 7 ] Brazil (8.23%), Mexico (7.29), and China (15%).
