Abstract:For solving the chaos synchronization problem between two chaotic systems with bidirectional coupling,a new synchronization method of chaotic systems based on time-delayed feedback was presented.Coupling coefficients between the drive and response systems were assumed identically and states were supposed to be linearly-coupled.Based on the Lyapunov stability theory,the condition was derived for synchronization according to the error dynamic system of the synchronization model.The scope of coupling parameters was obtained by solving Riccati equations. After delay time was selected appropriately,the effects of the states between the response system and the drive system were studied.The results show that the synchronization and control of systems can be guaranteed in the parameter scope.The trace of coupling chaotic systems can be synchronized by the changing delay time of control signal,and the system can be controlled to the fixed point or the period orbit.

Abstract:A novel single-channel digital secure communication scheme based on dual synchronization of chaos in Colpitts circuits is proposed. Two binary messages, modulated by the OOK scheme and mixed together with two chaotic waveforms, serve as the only transmission signal through a single channel. Simulation results show that two messages can be successfully recovered at their respective receivers. The proposed scheme shows tremendous advantages in terms of effective utilization of spectrum resource for multi-user communications and potential applications in secret sharing systems.

Abstract:Based on the stability theory of fractional order systems, an effective but theoretically rigorous nonlinear control method is proposed to synchronize the fractional order chaotic systems. Using this method, chaos synchronization between two identical fractional order unified systems is studied. Simulation results are shown to illustrate the effectiveness of this method.

Abstract:By studying laser systems with multiple time delays, we demonstrate that the signatures of time delays in the autocorrelation coefficient and the mutual information of the laser output can be erased for systems with variable time delays. This property makes such laser systems highly suitable for secure chaos-based communication systems. We also present the first report on chaos synchronization in both unidirectionally and bidirectionally coupled variable multiple time delay laser diodes with electro-optical feedbacks.

Abstract:Based on geometric theory of nonlinear feedback control, a new method to synchronize chaotic systems was put forward. As prerequisite of an appropriate smooth vector field by virtue of nonlinear differential geometry theory to assure the normalization of the receiver system was completed, and then in terms of differences of outputs and their different orders derivatives of the transmitter and receiver, the synchronization error state equations were constructed. By pole assignment, a nonlinear controller to synchronization output signals of two chaotic systems was also given and extended to the whole or part of the states of the two systems. As a result; numerical simulation to the Chua's circuit and its application in secure communication proves the efficacy of the suggested methods.

Abstract:A systematic approach to construct two chaotically synchronized systems was developed. An object matrix was found to satisfy a Riccati inequality to design the synchronized chaotic Lipschitz state-observer through using the LMI (linear matrix inequality) toolbox. The proposed method, combining chaotic masking and chaotic modulation, was then applied to secure communication. The complex encrypted information signal was injected into the chaos system and simultaneously transmitted to the receiver after chaotic masking. The information signal was recovered through a complex decrypter in the synchronized receiver. Furthermore, the well-known Chua's circuit was considered as illustration examples to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract:This paper presents an exponential synchronization scheme between two chaotic systems with different structures and parameters. A unified model consisting of a linear dynamic system and a bounded static nonlinear operator is employed to describe these totally different chaotic systems. A novel state feedback control law is established to exponentially synchronize the two unified models with different parameters. Most chaotic systems with different structures and parameters, such as Hopfield neural networks, cellular neural networks, Chua’s circuits, unified chaotic systems, Qi systems, and chaotic recurrent multilayer perceptrons, can be transformed into this unified model with the synchronization controller designed in a unified way. Two numerical examples are exploited to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design schemes.

Time delay can defy synchronization in coupled systems with simple connection. This paper has presented a complex structure of coupled chaotic systems. With this structure it is shown that synchronization can exist in coupled chaotic systems with time delay.

Abstract:The main aim of this research is to find an analytical and numerical study to investigate the projective synchronization of two identical or nonidentical chaotic complex nonlinear systems with uncertain parameters. The secure communication between these systems is achieved based on this study. Based on the adaptive control technique and the Lyapunov function a scheme is designed to achieve projective synchronization of chaotic attractors of these systems. The projective synchronization of two identical complex Chen systems and two different chaotic complex Lü and Lorenz systems is taken as two examples to verify the feasibility of the presented scheme. These chaotic complex systems appear in several applications in physics, engineering, and other applied sciences. Numerical simulations are calculated to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed synchronization scheme and verify the theoretical results. The above results will provide theoretical foundation for the secure communication applications based on the proposed scheme.

Abstract:This paper deals with the synchronization of chaotic systems with structure or parameters difference. Nonlinear differential geometry theory was applied to transform the chaotic discrepancy system into canonical form. A feedback control for synchronizing two chaotic systems is proposed based on sliding mode control design. To make this controller physically realizable, an extended state observer is used to estimate the error between the transmitter and receiver. Two illustrative examples were carried out: (1) The Chua oscillator was used to show that synchronization was achieved and the message signal was recovered in spite of parametric variations; (2) Two second-order driven oscillators were presented to show that the synchronization can be achieved and that the message can be recovered in spite of the strictly different model.

Abstract:Aimed at chaotic systems with unknown parameters,an adaptive chaotic synchronization method based on parameters identification and Riccati inequality was proposed. By using Lyapunov stability theory,the rule that chaotic synchronization could be transformed into the resolution of a Riccati inequality was proved.A synchronous chaotic receive system was constructed by a state observer method,and the unknown parameters were identified by steepest descend method.The condition of chaotic synchronous secure communication realization was analyzed by applying the concept of severe positive real function.The corresponding Riccati inequality and equality group was constructed and resolved to obtain the object matrix,and the chaotic system synchronization and the parameter adaptive identification were achieved.Chua's synchronous circuit and two-channel secure communication were simulated.The results show that the proposed method can rapidly realize the synchronization of two chaotic systems with unknown parameters,and can encrypt complexly and received accurately the information signal.

Abstract:In this article, the synchronization of bidirectionally coupled fractional-order chaotic systems with unknown time-varying parameter disturbance in different dimensions is investigated. The scale matrices are designed to address the problem of the synchronization for fractional-order chaotic systems across two different dimensions. Congelation of variables is used to deal with the unknown time-varying parameter disturbance. Based on Lyapunov's stability theorem, the synchronization controllers in different dimensions are obtained. At the same time, adaptive laws of the unknown disturbance can be designed. Benefiting from the proposed methods, we verify all the synchronization errors can converge to zero as time approaches infinity, regardless of whether in n-D or m-D synchronization, simultaneously ensuring that both control and estimation signals are bounded. Finally, simulation studies based on fractional-order financial systems are carried out to validate the effectiveness of the proposed synchronization method.

Abstract:Since noise is ubiquitous in both nature and artificial systems, the stochastic perturbation influence on the dynamics of the unidirectionally coupled Ikeda models is investigated in this paper. On the one hand, sufficient conditions on the complete synchronization between these noise-perturbed and chaotic models are mathematically established, and an estimation of the sample transverse Lyapunov exponent is rigorously derived. On the other hand, specific examples and their numerical simulations are provided to illustrate the feasibility of our theoretical results. Moreover, the results on the Ikeda models are further generalized to a wide class of coupled nonlinear systems with multiple time delays and a common additive noise. It is believed that the idea and approach developed in this paper could be further generalized to investigate some other problems on chaos synchronization and chaos control with stochastic perturbation.

Abstract:The present paper explores the synchronization scenario of hyperchaotic time-delayed electronic oscillators coupled indirectly via a common environment. We show that depending upon the coupling parameters a hyperchaotic time-delayed system can show in-phase or complete synchronization, and also inverse-phase or anti-synchronization. This paper reports the first experimental confirmation of synchronization of hyperchaos in time-delayed electronic oscillators coupled indirectly through a common environment. We confirm the occurrence of in-phase and inverse-phase synchronization phenomena in the coupled system through the dynamical measures like generalized autocorrelation function, correlation of probability of recurrence, and the concept of localized sets computed directly from the experimental time-series data. We also present a linear stability analysis of the coupled system. The experimental and analytical results are further supported by the detailed numerical analysis of the coupled system. Apart from the above mentioned measures, we numerically compute another quantitative measure, namely, Lyapunov exponent spectrum of the coupled system that confirms the transition from the in-phase (inverse-phase) synchronized state to the complete (anti-) synchronized state with the increasing coupling strength.

Abstract:Chaos synchronization, in particular isochronal synchronization of two chaotic trajectories to each other, may be used to build a means of secure communication over a public channel. In this paper, we give an overview of coupling schemes of Bernoulli units deduced from chaotic laser systems, different ways to transmit information by chaos synchronization and the advantage of bidirectional over unidirectional coupling with respect to secure communication. We present the protocol for using dynamical private commutative filters for tap-proof transmission of information that maps the task of a passive attacker to the class of non-deterministic polynomial time-complete problems.

Abstract:In this paper we numerically investigate the chaotic behaviours of the fractional-order Ikeda delay system. The results show that chaos exists in the fractional-order Ikeda delay system with order less than 1. The lowest order for chaos to be able to appear in this system is found to be 0.1. Master-slave synchronization of chaotic fractional-order Ikeda delay systems with linear coupling is also studied.

Abstract:A chaos-based communication scheme allowing simultaneous bidirectional message transmission (Opt. Lett. 32, 403, 2007) is investigated numerically. Incoherent feedback and coupling case is analyzed, which is expected in real long-distance optical communication systems. It is shown that identical synchronization of chaotic laser waveforms and bidirectional message transmission are possible as in the coherent coupling case. However, the chaotic regime at incoherent feedback and coupling is quite different. It is regular destabilized relaxation oscillations with the chaotic envelope. Such dynamics leads to restriction of the transmitting signal bit rate by a portion of relaxation oscillations frequency.

Abstract:In this paper, the multi-state synchronization of chaotic systems with non-identical, unknown, and time-varying delay in the presence of external perturbations and parametric uncertainties was studied. The presence of unknown delays, unknown bounds of disturbance and uncertainty, as well as changes in system parameters complicate the determination of control function and synchronization. During a synchronization scheme using a robust-adaptive control procedure with the help of the Lyapunov stability theorem, the errors converged to zero, and the updating rules were set to estimate the system parameters and delays. To investigate the performance of the proposed design, simulations have been carried out on two Chen hyper-chaotic systems as the slave and one Chua hyper-chaotic system as the master. Our results showed that the proposed controller outperformed the state-of-the-art techniques in terms of convergence speed of synchronization, parameter estimation, and delay estimation processes. The parameters and time delays were achieved with appropriate approximation. Finally, secure communication was realized with a chaotic masking method, and our results revealed the effectiveness of the proposed method in secure telecommunications.
