Abstract:The research object of this paper is a double push rod limb-leg mechanism with clearance joints. To begin, a dynamic model of the double push rod limb-leg mechanism with clearance joints is developed. Then, the motion process of the mechanism is numerically simulated, and three evaluation indexes are introduced to quantify the influence of the clearance joints on the dynamic characteristics of the mechanism. The sensitivity of each clearance variable to the end motion error of the mechanism under different clearance conditions is also investigated using the Sobol method. Finally, the laws obtained from numerical simulations are experimentally verified. The wear intervals of the bearings with different clearance sizes, positions, numbers, and motion conditions at the clearance joint were obtained by numerical simulation. Combined with numerical simulation and experiment, the equation of the relationship between the clearance size and the average error of the end motion trajectory of the mechanism is obtained, and the influence of different clearance sizes on the dynamic characteristics of the mechanism is revealed. Relative to clearance joint A, when the clearance exists in joint B, the average relative error (AARE) of the trajectory of the mechanism end motion is smaller, while the amplitude effect (DP) of the mechanism end velocity and acceleration is greater and the average joint contact force is smaller. The end motion trajectory AARE and end motion trajectory error of the mechanism containing a double clearance joint limb-leg are both linearly superimposed in the case of a single clearance joint, and the end motion trajectory error of the mechanism with a double clearance joint is more than 58 times the clearance size. When the single push rod of the one- or two-stage is driven independently, the average contact force at joints A and B increases by 97.25% at most compared to that at joints A and B when the double push rod is driven synchronously.
