Abstract:Rapid advancements in digital technologies have accelerated global change, underscoring the critical role of resilience in addressing the escalating energy, economic, and environmental challenges. This paper investigates the effects and mechanisms of the digital economy on energy, economic, and environmental resilience within the context of these challenges. By utilizing panel data from 66 countries spanning the period from 2000 to 2020, this analysis employs robust panel data models and incorporates tests such as the Hausman and Leamer tests, and exploratory factor analysis. The results reveal a notable positive impact of the digital economy on resilience across various countries and time periods. However, when it comes to carbon emissions, a more intricate pattern emerges, suggesting a negative influence on resilience in environmental, energy, and economic domains. Interestingly, countries with below-average carbon emissions show more positive effects on economic resilience due to the digital economy. On the other hand, the effect of the digital economy on energy resilience is less prominent in below-average carbon-emitting nations, while carbon emissions have a more significant impact within this subgroup. Above-average carbon-emitting countries experience limited effects of the digital economy on environmental resilience, while below-average carbon-emitting countries face challenges with significant carbon emissions impacting their environmental resilience.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper aims to explore the impact of the digital economy on energy resilience, economic resilience, and environmental resilience, and to reveal these impacts in countries with different levels of carbon emissions through a cross-national study. The research background of the paper points out that with the rapid development of digital technology, the world is undergoing significant changes, highlighting the critical role of resilience in addressing increasingly severe energy, economic, and environmental challenges. To understand the connection between the digital economy and energy, economic, and environmental resilience, the authors utilized panel data from 66 countries from 2000 to 2020 for analysis. The main research methods include the use of robust panel data models, such as fixed effects and random effects models, combined with statistical tests like the Hausman test, Leamer test, and exploratory factor analysis. Additionally, the study considered factors such as carbon emissions, population density, economic openness, and food security as control variables. The research results indicate that the digital economy has a significant positive impact on the resilience of different countries, but this impact presents a complex pattern among countries with different levels of carbon emissions. Specifically: 1. **Economic Resilience**: For countries with carbon emissions below the average level, the digital economy has a more positive impact on their economic resilience. 2. **Energy Resilience**: The impact of the digital economy on energy resilience is less significant in countries with carbon emissions below the average level compared to other countries. 3. **Environmental Resilience**: Countries with carbon emissions above the average level have a more limited positive impact of the digital economy on environmental resilience; whereas for countries with carbon emissions below the average level, the challenges to environmental resilience are more influenced by the amount of carbon emissions. In summary, the core objective of the paper is to reveal through quantitative analysis how the digital economy affects the economic, energy, and environmental resilience of different countries and to explore the differences in these impacts among countries with different levels of carbon emissions. This study helps policymakers better understand the role of the digital economy and formulate corresponding strategies to enhance resilience in various fields.
