Abstract:A series of functional cation-regulated isopolymolybdate-based organic-inorganic hybrid compounds, Na2H2[Mo4O12(C8H17O5N)2]·10H2O (1), Na2[M(Bis-tris)(H2O)]2[Mo7O24]·10H2O [M = Cu, 2; Ni, 3; Co, 4; Zn, 5; Bis-tris = 2,2-Bis(hydroxymethyl)-2,2',2″-nitrilotriethanol], and (NH4)2[M(Bis-tris)(H2O)]2[Mo7O24]·6H2O (M = Zn, 6; Cu, 7), were synthesized and characterized toward advanced molecular catalyst design. Compound 1 is a covalently bonded adduct, and its self-assembly process can be probed by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). Compounds 2-7 are polyoxometalate (POM)-based hybrids containing classic heptamolybdate anions and complex cations with Bis-tris ligands. All of these compounds showed remarkable catalytic effects for selective sulfide oxidation. To the best of our knowledge, compound 5 presents the best catalytic activity so far among the reported hybrid materials with common easily synthesized small-molecule POM clusters and also exhibits outstanding reliability. The conclusion of the catalytic effect is drawn from the results that Zn-based compounds have better catalytic effects than other transition-metal-containing compounds and the compound constructed by Na+ has higher catalytic activity than that constructed by NH4+. The mechanism studies show that the improvements of the catalytic performance are caused by the synergy between classic heptamolybdate anions and complex cations. ESI-MS data and UV-vis spectra revealed that the POM anions can form intermediate peroxomolybdenum units during catalytic reaction. Further, the combination of the substrate thioanisole with complex cations was characterized by NMR experiments and UV-vis spectra. Thus, a new synergistic mechanism of anions and cations is proposed in which the activated thioanisole is used as a nucleophile to attack the peroxomolybdenum bonds, and this provides a new strategy in the design of reliable POM-based catalysts.

Abstract:A two-dimensional metal-organic framework (MOF) comprising nickel species and an organic ligand of benzenedicarboxylic acid is fabricated and explored as an electrocatalyst for urea oxidation reaction (UOR). The excellent UOR performance is found to be partially due to the high active site density of the two-dimensional MOF, and largely because of the high oxidation state of the nickel species.

Abstract:In order to solve the problems of environmental pollution and energy crisis, it is of great significance to develop low-cost, high-efficiency and environmentally friendly multifunctional materials being used to deal with the environmental and energy concerned issues. Herein, two multifunctional Cu(II) coordination complexes with the formula of {[Cu(m-bix)(FDC)(H 2 O)]•H 2 O]} n (1) and {[Cu 2 (DAP) 4 (NIP) 2 ]•DMF]} n (2) (m-bix = m-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene; DAP = N-(4-Pyridyl)dimethylamine; H 2 FDC = 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid; H 2 NIP = 5-nitroisophthalic acid) were successfully constructed by using mixed ligands via the solvothermal method. Structural analyses show that both complexes exhibit 1D chain structures, extending into a 3D supramolecular network via abundant hydrogen bonding forces. Electrochemical oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalytic studies reveal that 1-2 are efficient electrocatalysts for OER. In particular, 2 has a lower overpotential of 360 mV at 1 mA cm -2 under alkaline conditions. Furthermore, both complexes exhibit excellent photocatalytic activity due to the narrower band gaps (2.28 eV (544 nm) for 1 and 2.57 eV (482 nm) for 2. The oxidation system composed of the complex and H 2 O 2 can degrade methyl orange azo dyes (40 mg/L) to less than 10% in only 150 minutes under sunlight irradiation. This work demonstrates that employing mixed ligands is a promising approach to obtain multifunctional complexes. And it opens up a unique path for the development of high-efficiency, low-cost, and environmentally friendly multifunctional materials to address environmental and energy issues.

Abstract:By intentionally involving in situ ligand transformation in the reaction system, two inorganic-organic hybrid polyoxovanadates (POVs), [Co(HDTBA)V2O6] (1) and [Ni(H2O)2(DTBA)2V2O4(OH)2]·4H2O (2), have been synthesized by using a hydrothermal method, where the 3,5-di[1,2,4]triazol-1-ylbenzoic acid (HDTBA) ligand originated from in situ hydrolysis of 3,5-di[1,2,4]triazol-1-ylbenzonitrile in the self-assembly process. The inorganic layers [Co2(V4O12)]n containing [V4O12]4- circle clusters were linked by HDTBA ligands to yield a 3D framework structure of compound 1. There existed a kind of binuclear [(DTBA)2V2O4(OH)2]2- vanadium cluster grafted directly by two DTBA ligands through the sharing of carboxyl oxygen atoms in compound 2, further extended into a 2D layer by nickel centers. The investigations on the catalytic properties indicated that compounds 1 and 2 as heterogeneous catalysts, especially 2, owned satisfying catalytic performances for catalyzing the selective oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides in the presence of tert-butyl hydroperoxide as an oxidant, accompanied by excellent conversion of 100% and selectivity of above 99%, providing a promising way for developing inorganic-organic hybrid POVs as effective heterogeneous catalysts for catalyzing the selective oxidation of sulfides.

Abstract:Depending on the in situ ligand transformation of 3,5-di(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)benzonitrile (DTCN) to 3,5-di(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)benzoic acid (DTCA) under hydrothermal condition, three polyoxometalate-based copper complexes, [Cu-I Cu-4(II) (2)(OH)(2)(H2O)(4)(DTCA)(4)(HPMoVI Mo-10(V) O-2(39))] (1), [Cu-4(OH)(2)(H2O)(4)(DTCA)(2)(SiW12O40)]center dot 11H(2)O (2), and {Cu2Cl(H2O)(HDTCA)(2)[CrMo6(OH)(6)O-18)]}center dot 4H(2)O (3), have been isolated through changing the polyoxoanions. Introducing Keggin-type polyoxoanions [PMo12O40](3-) or [SiW12O40](4-) to reaction systems, both 1 and 2 display 3-D framework structures containing Cu/DTCA metal-organic belts, and a kind of poly-Keggin chain derived from [PMo12O40](3-) polyoxoanions exist in 1. When the Anderson-type polyoxoanion [CrMo6(OH)(6)O-18)](3-) is utilized, a 2-D grid-like layer resulted in 3, in which the DTCA ligands are embedded, revealing that the polyoxoanions have key roles in regulating the structures of complexes. The investigations on electrochemical properties and photocatalytic activities for the degradation of organic dyes of 1-3 have been carried out.
α–γ-Type [Mo 8 O 26 ] 4– -Containing Metal–Organic Complex Possessing Efficient Catalytic Activity toward the Oxidation of Thioether Derivatives

Abstract:In this work, a new α–γ-type [Mo8O26]4– anion was first synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and was obtained by introducing molybdate to the synthesis of metal–organic complex (MOC) under hydrothermal conditions. An octamolybdate-based MOC, namely, {[Cu8(H2O)6](dpyh)4(α–γ-Mo8O26) }·(β-Mo8O26)·8.5H2O (H2dpyh = N,N-bis(3-pyrazolamide)-1,2-hexahydrobenzene), was obtained. The α–γ-type [Mo8O26]4– anion was composed of four MoO6 octahedra and four MoO5 trigonal bipyramids by sharing their edges and corners. The title complex exhibited a 1D structure in which an α–γ-type [Mo8O26]4– anion was connected with [Cu4(dpyh)2] units in a staggered manner. Under optimized conditions, complex 1 as the catalyst can achieve a highly efficient conversion (more than 99%) of thioanisole within 30 min and above 99% selectivity toward sulfoxide. Furthermore, efficient catalytic oxidation of thioether derivatives was also performed with 1 as the catalyst. Isomeric Organic Ligands Directing Octamolybdates-Linked Copper(Ⅱ) Functionalized Complexes As Active Catalysts in Electrochemistry and Desulfurization

Abstract:Two remarkable octamolybdates-based copper-organic complexes, namely, [Cu-7(L)(4)(H2O)(7)(/1-H2Mo8O26)]center dot 7H(2)O (POM 1) and [Cu-6(HX)(4)(/1-Mo8O26)(H2O)(6)]center dot 3H(2)O (POM 2) (H3L = 2-(pyridine-4-yl)-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid; H3X = 2-(pyridine-3-yl)-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid), were successfully assembled using two isomeric organic ligands under hydrothermal conditions. The two-dimensional metal-organic layers of POMs 1 and 2 were converted into three-dimensional frameworks by hexadentate beta-H2Mo8O262- and tetradentate beta-Mo8O264- clusters, respectively. The electrocatalytic properties of POM 1 were investigated, revealing its ability to catalyze the reduction of BrO3-, NO2- and H2O2 and the oxidation of ascorbic acid. Notably, POMs 1 and 2 demonstrated exceptional stability in organic solvents and exhibited excellent catalytic performance in oxidative desulfurization. When employed as catalysts for thioanisole oxidation, the conversion rates reached 94.5% after 150 min for POMs 1 and 99.9% after 120 min for POMs 2. In addition, their catalytic performances in model oil remained largely unchanged after five recycling cycles.

Abstract:Two new complexes {[Cd3L2(4,4'-bipy)(H2O)2]·2H2O}n (1) and {[Zn3L2(4,4'-bipy)(H2O)]·H2O}n (2), were synthesized successfully based on 5-((carboxy-3-thio) methyl)isophthalic acid (H3L) and 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) auxiliary ligands under solvothermal conditions. Complexes 1 and 2 have the three-dimensional (3D) crystal structures, which contain infinitely extended one-dimensional (1D) metal chains decorated by open metal sites (OMSs). 1 and 2 both show good thermal stability and excellent water resistance. Fluorescence tests showed that complex 1 has high selectivity and sensitivity to detect Fe3+, Cr2O7 2− and CrO4 2− ions in aqueous solution. In addition, complex 1 is an excellent heterogeneous catalyst for the cycloaddition of CO2 and epoxides that catalytic efficiency of epichlorohydrin is higher than 99% under mild conditions.

Abstract:AbstractHeterostructural metal/metal oxides are the very promising substituents of noble‐metal catalysts; however, generation and further stabilization of accessible metal/metal oxide heterojunctions are very difficult. A strategy to encapsulate and stabilize Cu/Cu2O nanojunctions in porous organic frameworks in situ is developed by tuning the acrylate contents in copper‐based metal–organic frameworks (Cu‐MOFs) and the pyrolytic conditions. The acrylate groups play important roles on improving the polymerization degree of organic frameworks and generating and stabilizing highly dispersed and accessible Cu/Cu2O heteronanojunctions. As a result, pyrolysis of the MOF ZJU‐199, consisting of three acrylates per ligand, generates abundant heterostructural Cu/Cu2O discrete domains inside porous organic matrices at 350 °C, demonstrating excellent catalytic properties in liquid‐phase hydrogenation of furfural into furfuryl alcohol, which are much superior to the non‐noble metal‐based catalysts.

Abstract:A versatile 2D {P2Mo5}‐based CuII‐containing supramolecular network is synthesized through a hydrothermal method. This complex, designated as complex 1, functions effectively as a heterogeneous catalyst for the oxidation of MPS, showcasing remarkable efficiency and cyclic stability. Furthermore, complex 1 is applied as an electrochemical sensor, displaying commendable electrocatalytic activity for the reduction of FeIII and CrVI. The development of eco‐friendly, high‐efficiency polyoxometalates (POMs) catalysts is vital for advancing catalytic oxidation and electrochemical detection in environmental protection. Herein, a POM‐based CuII‐containing complex with the molecular formula [H(4‐AP)]8[Cu2(H2O)4(P2Mo5O23)2]·8H2O (1) (4‐AP = 4‐aminopyridine) is synthesized using the hydrothermal method, and the crystal structure is determined by single X‐ray diffraction (SXRD), infrared (IR) spectroscopy, and powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD). Structurally, complex 1 exhibits a one dimension (1D) chain arrangement, composed of CuII ions and Strandberg‐type (P2Mo5O23)6− anionic clusters. These 1D chains are further interconnected through [H(4‐AP)]+ ligands, resulting in the formation of a two dimension (2D) supramolecular network. Complex 1 serves as an outstanding heterogeneous catalyst for the oxidation of methyl phenyl sulfide (MPS), demonstrating a remarkable conversion rate of 99% for MPS and a selectivity of 98% toward methyl phenyl sulfoxide (MPSO). In addition to its catalytic capabilities, complex 1 is also employed in the electrochemical detection of FeIII and CrVI ions, with low limits of detection (LODs) at 4.92 μm for FeIII and 7.82 μM for CrVI.

Abstract:Adsorption of metal-organic complexes on metallic surfaces to produce well-defined single site catalysts is a novel approach combining the advantages of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. To avoid the “surface trans-effect” a dome-shaped molybdenum(0) tricarbonyl complex supported by an tolylazacalix[3](2,6)pyridine ligand is synthesized. This vacuum-evaporable complex both activates CO and reacts with molecular oxygen (O2) to form a Mo(VI) trioxo complex which in turn is capable of catalytically mediating oxygen transfer. The molybdenum tricarbonyl- and trioxo complexes are investigated in the solid state, in homogeneous solution and on noble metal surfaces (Cu, Au) employing a range of spectroscopic and analytical methods.

Abstract:An acylhydrazone-linked covalent organic framework (TH-MT–COF–OH) was synthesized using 2,5-dihydroxyterephthalic hydrazide and 2,4,6-tris(4-methoxybenzaldehyde)-1,3,5-triazine as building blocks. The obtained TH-MT–COF–OH exhibited excellent adsorption capacity for Cu(II) from aqueous solution, with maximum removal efficiency of 99.2 % at pH = 7. The theoretical maximum adsorption capacity (Q m ) reached 137.17 mg/g based on Langmuir model. Moreover, the adsorption kinetics simulated results consistent with the pseudo-second-order model, suggesting the adsorption mechanism of Cu(II) by TH-MT–COF–OH was mainly governed by chemisorption. Interestingly, after adsorbing Cu(II), the spent adsorbent Cu@TH-MT–COF–OH could be used as a reusable catalyst for organic synthesis, such as Ullmann-type cross-coupling reactions. These results further demonstrated the strong interaction between copper ions and adsorbents leading to the stable adsorption against the erosion of organics. What's more, the pristine TH-MT–COF–OH also presented high catalytic activity in Knoevenagel condensation reactions. In addition, the TH-MT–COF–OH and Cu@TH-MT–COF–OH were recyclable and could be reused.

Abstract:A series of six disubstituted diacylthioureas 1,3‐ and 1,4‐C6H4[C(O)NHC(S)NR1R2]2 (L1‐6) were synthesized with varied Rn substituents (R1 = R2 = Et for L1‐2; R1 = R2 = Bn for L3‐4; R1 = iPr and R2 = Ph for L5 (1) and L6 (2)). Treatment of Ln with Cu(I) halide precursors CuX(PPh3)3 (X = Cl, Br, I) produced the discrete binuclear adducts Ln[CuX(PPh3)2]2 (3‐11 and 14‐16; n = 1‐3 and 6) by binding to Cu(I) centres via the monodentate‐S mode. In contrast, L4 and L5 yielded only the chloride products of binuclear L4[CuCl(PPh3)2]2 (12) and mononuclear L5CuCl(PPh3)2 (13), respectively, with one S arm in the latter remaining dangling, while bromide or iodide analogues were not available for L4 and L5, possibly due to the steric hindrance imposed by larger halide anions or bulky isopropyl substituents. The reactions of Ln with nitrate [Cu(NO3)(PPh3)2]led to the double‐deprotonation of ligand protons to generate dianions Ln' (1,3‐/1,4‐C6H4[C(O)NC(S)NR1R2]22‐) and led to the consequent formation of binuclear diacylthioureato Cu(I) complexes Ln'[Cu(PPh3)2]2 (n=1 (17), 2 (18), 4 (19)) via the κ‐O,S‐bidentate mode. The obtained ligands and complexes were spectroscopically and structurally characterized. These Cu(I) products (3‐19) were experimentally used as catalysts for the oxidation of 1‐phenylethanol.

Abstract:To further enhance the catalytic performance of copper/lead 2,4-dihydroxybenzoate salt, two novel ternary complexes, Cu(C 10 H 8 N 2 ) 2 (C 7 H 5 O 4 )·3H 2 O (complex 1 ) and [Pb(C 10 H 8 N 2 )(C 7 H 5 O 4 ) 2 ]·H 2 O (complex 2 ) were designed by introducing carbon framework ligand. The molecular structures of complexes 1 and 2 were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Both complex 1 and complex 2 were crystallized in the monoclinic crystal system. The difference is that the central Cu ion in complex 1 is connected to one oxygen atom of the carboxyl group of 2,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid, while the other 2,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid anion only acts as a counterion to balance the charge. But the central Pb ion in complex 2 is connected to four oxygen atoms of the carboxyl groups of two 2,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid and forms a six-coordinated structure. The Hirshfeld surface and associated 2D fingerprint analysis offer valuable insights into the intermolecular interactions within the crystal structure. Importantly, the thermal analysis results show that the thermal decomposition temperature of complex 1 is 204.1 °C, which has better thermal stability than complex 2 . Furthermore, complex 1 showed remarkable catalytic activity on RDX compared to complex 2 , and changed the thermal decomposition of RDX from melting decomposition to solid phase decomposition. This study will provide a new insight into development of combustion catalysts.

Abstract:Three novel organic-inorganic polyoxoniobate-based compounds modified with Cu(II) amine complexes were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions with the chemical formulas as follows: K0.5[Cu(enMe)2]4[K0.5SiNb12O40(VO)4.25](OH)1.5·9H2O (1), K0.5[Cu(enMe)2]4[K0.5H2PNb12O40(VO)2]·12.5H2O (2), K0.5[Cu(enMe)2]4[K0.5H2VNb12O40(VO)2]·12.5H2O (3) (enMe = 1,2-diaminopropane). These compounds were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy (IR) , UV-Vis spectroscopy, elemental analysis and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) analysis. Notably, while these three compounds exhibit identical cell parameters, they possess distinct stoichiometric compositions and differing polyoxometalate building block structures. Typically, compounds with the same cell parameters are classified as isostructural, sharing identical structures with only minor elemental variations in their compositions. to the best of our knowledge, Compounds 1-3 represent the first instances of compounds that share the same cell parameters yet are not isostructural.In this study, we not only synthesized these three compounds and thoroughly examined the differences in their structures and properties, but we also investigated their catalytic performances as catalysts for the oxidation of styrene.
