Abstract:We consider a two-point boundary-value problem for a system of differential equations with generalized piecewise-constant argument. To solve the problem, we propose to use a constructive method based on the Dzhumabaev parametrization method and a new approach to the concept of general solution. The interval is partitioned with regard for the singularities of the argument. The values of the solution at the interior points of the partition are regarded as additional parameters, and the differential equation is transformed into a system of Cauchy problems with parameters given on subintervals of the partition. By using the solutions of these problems, we obtain a new general solution of the differential equation with piecewise-constant argument and establish its properties. This new general solution, the boundary conditions, and the conditions of continuity of the solution at the interior points of the partition are used to construct a linear system of algebraic equations for the introduced parameters. The coefficients and the right-hand side of the system are found as a result of the solution of the Cauchy problems for linear ordinary differential equations on the subintervals of the partition. It is shown that the solvability of the boundary-value problem is equivalent to the solvability of the constructed system. We propose algorithms of the parametrization method for solving the analyzed boundary-value problem and establish necessary and sufficient conditions for the well-posedness of this problem.

Abstract:We study a two-point boundary value problem for a linear differen\-tial-algebraic equation with constant coefficients by using the method of parameterization. The parameter is set as the value of the continuously differentiable component of the solution at the left endpoint of the interval. Applying the Weierstrass canonical form to the matrix pair associated with the differential-algebraic equation, we obtain a criterion for the unique solvability of the problem.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the existence of solutions to a boundary value problem of differential equations of variable order, which is a piecewise constant function. Our results are based on the Schauder fixed point theorem. Then, under some assumptions on the nonlinear term, we obtain a generalized Lyapunov-type inequality to the two-point boundary value problem considered. To the best of our knowledge, there is no paper dealing with Lyapunov-type inequalities for boundary value problems in term of variable order. In addition, some examples of the obtained inequalities are given.

Abstract:"In this paper we shall study the existence and approximation results for a nonlinear two point boundary value problem of a second order ordinary differential equation with general form of Dirichlet/Neumann type boundary conditions. The nonlinearity present on right hand side of the differential equation is assumed to be Caratho ́eodory containing a deviating argument. The proofs of the main results are based on a monotone iteration method contained in the hybrid fixed point principles of Dhage (2014) in an ordered Banach space. Finally, some remarks concerning the merits of our monotone iteration method over other frequently used iteration methods in the theory of nonlinear differential equations are given in the conclusion."

Abstract:This paper is devoted to study the existence of solutions and the monotone method of second-order periodic boundary value problems when the lower and upper solutions $\alpha$ and $\beta$ violate the boundary conditions $ \alpha(0)=\alpha(2\pi)$ and $\beta(0)=\beta(2\pi)$. We present several comparison results. We show that the method of lower and upper solutions coupled with the monotone iterative technique is valid to obtain constuctive proof of existence of solutions.

Abstract:We investigate the solvability and Ulam stability for a nonlocal nonlinear third-order integro-multi-point boundary value problem on an arbitrary domain. The nonlinearity in the third-order ordinary differential equation involves the unknown function together with its first- and second-order derivatives. Our main results rely on the modern tools of functional analysis and are well illustrated with the aid of examples. An analogue problem involving non-separated integro-multi-point boundary conditions is also discussed.

Abstract:The main object of this paper is to investigate the existence of solutions for a self-adjoint coupled system of nonlinear second-order ordinary differential equations equipped with nonlocal multi-point coupled boundary conditions on an arbitrary domain. We apply the Leray–Schauder alternative, the Schauder fixed point theorem and the Banach contraction mapping principle in order to derive the main results, which are then well-illustrated with the aid of several examples. Some potential directions for related further researches are also indicated.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of nodal solutions of some nonlinear boundary value problems for ordinary differential equations of fourth order with a spectral parameter in the boundary condition. To do this, we first study the global bifurcation of solutions from zero and infinity of the corresponding nonlinear eigenvalue problems in classes with a fixed oscillation count. Then, using these global bifurcation results, we prove the existence of solutions of the considered nonlinear boundary value problems with a fixed number of nodes.

Abstract:The method is proposed for the study of many-point boundary value problems for systems of nonlinear ODE, by reducing them to special equivalent integral equations, and allows us [in contrast with the known method [1]] to consider boundary and initial value problems. Here we avoid the mechanism of Green's function whose construction is quite nontrivial, especially in case of many-point boundary value problems. The proposed algorithm [2, 3] makes it easier to write out the condition of unique solvability of such problems. Abstract:In this article we study solutions to second order linear difference equations with variable coefficients. Under mild conditions we provide closed form solutions using finite continued fraction representations. The proof of the results are elementary and based on factoring a quadratic shift operator. As an application, we obtain two new generalized continued fraction formulas for the mathematical constant $\pi^2$.

Abstract:We study boundary value problems for first-order elliptic differential operators on manifolds with compact boundary. The adapted boundary operator need not be selfadjoint and the boundary condition need not be pseudo-local. We show the equivalence of various characterisations of elliptic boundary conditions and demonstrate how the boundary conditions traditionally considered in the literature fit in our framework. The regularity of the solutions up to the boundary is proven. We show that imposing elliptic boundary conditions yields a Fredholm operator if the manifold is compact. We provide examples which are conveniently treated by our methods.

Abstract:In this paper, we exhibit a unified treatment of the mixed initial boundary value problem for second order (in time) parabolic linear differential equations in Banach spaces, whose boundary conditions are of a dynamical nature. Results regarding existence, uniqueness, continuous dependence (on initial data) and regularity of classical and strict solutions are established. Moreover, several examples are given as samples for possible applications.
