Abstract:BACKGROUND: Cyberbullying, has concerned professionals due to increased use of media over time and as predicted, this type of bullying is fairly common among adolescents. We aimed to define the prevalence of cyberbullying and cyber victimization, examine relationships between problematic smartphone (SP) use (PSU), psychiatric symptoms and emotion regulation difficulties in a clinical adolescent sample. Also, we aimed to predict risk factors of being an E-Victim and E-Bully. METHODS: One hundred and fifty adolescents have recruited the study. Demographic Information Form, Problematic Mobile Phone Usage Scale, Brief Symptom Inventory, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale, E-Victimization–E-Bullying Scale were filled out by adolescents. RESULTS: Our results indicated that the prevalence of cybervictimization and cyberbullying were 62.6% and 53.3%, respectively. BEVEB (Both E-Victim and E-Bully) group adolescents were older than NVB (Non-Victim/Bully) groups. Access internet via own SP, PSU, problems in strategies and impulse control and were significantly higher and “lack of awareness” scores were significantly lower in BEVEB group than others. In addition, when compared with OEV (only E-Victims) group, BEVEB group had also higher hostility scores. Logistic regression analysis revealed that high scores of “lack of awareness” and higher E-bullying scores increase the risk of being an E-Victim; and higher scores of hostility and E-victimization and lower scores of “lack of awareness” (in other words being more aware of feelings) increase the risk of being an E-bully. CONCLUSIONS: According to analyses, contrary to our expectations, PSU was important but not an independent predictor of being an E-Victim/E-Bully. Our results also demonstrated an interesting finding: lack of awareness is a risk factor for being an E-victim. We interpreted this result as could not be aware of feelings increase the victimization risk. On the other hand, E-Bullies have higher hostility and victimization while having lower “lack of awareness” scores. It could be speculated that, re-victimization and being aware of hostility feelings could increase the cyberbullying among adolescents. In addition being an E-Bully could be a consequence of being an E-victim and increasing hostility and awareness over time. These results should be re-examined in larger clinical samples.

Abstract:Cyberbullying behavior (CB) on social media is complex because its perpetrators exhibit varied demographic characteristics and personalities. Prior studies have applied Big Five (Big5) and Dark Tetrads (Dark4) personality traits (PTs) along with demographic attributes, using symmetrical modelling, but revealed mixed and inconsistent results. This paper applies an asymmetric modelling approach using complexity and configurational theories to develop configurations of PTs and demography to predict CB. The online survey data have been analyzed using fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) technique. Regarding Big5 PTs, our findings reveal that, for instance, people scoring high in conscientiousness, neuroticism, openness and low in agreeableness undertake cyberbullying. For Dark4 PTs, the combination of either psychopathy and sadism or Machiavellianism and psychopathy leads to cyberbullying. As for demographic attributers, educated young married people, irrespective of gender, are likely to commit cyberbullying. Our all-inclusive model reveals that social media bullies, regardless of their gender, marital status, and social media experience, are young, educated, neurotic, conscientious, psychopathic, and sadistic with high Machiavellianism and low agreeableness. Further, we suggest configurations to reduce cyberbullying. The findings are discussed with implications for theory and practice.

Abstract:With the acceleration of internet use, problematic social media use (PSMU) is included in our lives. When looking at the antecedents of PSMU, being young has been found to be a risk factor for PSMU. In addition to the benefits of technological advances in education and training, rapid technological developments may also result in problematic behaviors, especially among children and young. Recently, possibilities brought by technology and more widespread use of technology by young people have created a new concept, namely, cyberbullying. The present study aims to examine the effects of attachment anxiety and avoidance on PSMU and cyberbullying as with the partial mediating effects of the Dark Triad personality traits, angry rejection sensitivity, and anxious rejection sensitivity among adolescents. In general, the findings supported the proposed theoretical model. The results are discussed in terms of theoretical and practical implications along with suggestions for future research.

Abstract:The increased usage of technology has engendered different forms of bullying. While scholars affirm that cyberbullying is considered to exhibit the most harmful impacts on individuals among the different types of bullying. It needs to be underscored that the multifaceted and recurring nature of cyberbullying, particularly in the workplace, has a more hazardous effect on employees. It is urged that the highly competitive working environment has exacerbated the problems of rivalry among employees, which subsequently pushes them towards cyberbullying. Despite an extensive body of knowledge on traditional bullying, research still lacks the effect of cyberbullying in the workplace context. This research addresses the gaps by explaining the impact of the dark triad of personality traits (DTPT) on turnover intention and employees' mental health through cyberbullying. It incorporated a unique multistage sampling approach in which data were gathered through self-administered questionnaires from the banking sector. The analyses showed a direct relationship between the DTPT and turnover intention. Cyberbullying partially mediates the relationship between DTPT and turnover intention. Findings also indicate that the DTPT negatively affects employees' mental health. A vital facet of this research is testing the mediating role of cyberbullying between DTPT and employees' mental health and turnover intention. The findings are of great value to organizational stakeholders, where management can adopt various strategies and training programs to reduce the detrimental effects of cyberbullying. Such initiatives enable employees to cope with mental health issues, mitigating negative workplace behaviour and minimizing turnover intention.
Examination of Cyberbullying Experiences of Social Media Users

Abstract:This study was carried out in a descriptive and cross-sectional design in order to examine the cyberbullying experiences of individuals using social media. This descriptive study was conducted online between June 16, 2022, and August 16, 2022, in Turkey. The data collection process was completed with 471 participants. Data were collected using a Personal Information Form and the Cyberbullying Triangulation Questionnaire. The mean questionnaire score was found to be 7.36 ± 6.99. Cyberbully, cybervictim, and cyberbystander scores of men were found to be higher than those of women. Also, cybervictim, cyberbully, and cyberbystander scores of those who experienced cybervictim or engaged in cyberbully were significantly higher (p < .05). A positive relationship was found between cyberbully and cybervictim (p = .000), between cyberbystander and cybervictim and cyberbully (p < .05), and between the Cyberbullying Triangulation Questionnaire total scores and cybervictim, cyberbully, and cyberbystander (p < .05). Individuals should be given training on risky internet use and the correct use of technology to prevent cyberbullying. Families should also be supported in setting an example, setting rules, applying filtering software, determining online behavior rules, and communicating with the bully or victim child. Individuals should be informed about the steps to follow when exposed to cyberbullying. Although legal sanctions are effective on cyberbullying, it is recommended that a holistic study be planned and carried out according to the people's age group and development level to increase awareness about the phenomenon.
Risk and Protective Factors in Cyberbullying: the Role of Family, Social Support and Emotion Regulation

Abstract:Abstract Family and peer effects, as well as socio-emotional skills, are considered to have an essential role in cyberbullying. Although the dynamics of social factors and socio-emotional processes underlying cyberbullying are still open for research to further understand the direct and indirect relationships among the social factors (e.g., peers and family), socio-emotional skills (e.g. emotion regulation) and cyberbullying engagement. Thus, the aim of our study was to test models of cyberbullying perpetration and cybervictimization based on the role of family dynamics (cohesion, adaptability and communication), social support (from family and friends) and emotion regulation difficulties. One thousand, one hundred and five students (552 males, aged 11–19 years) participated in our research. We used self-report questionnaires to measure cyberbullying perpetration and cybervictimization, family functioning, perceived social support and emotion regulation difficulties. Our main findings support the crucial role of family and peers in cyberbullying engagement during adolescence. Perceived support from friends and family serve as protective factors against cybervictimization. Further, perceived support from friends and balanced family cohesion are protective factors against cyberbullying perpetration. On the other hand, emotion regulation difficulties appear to increase the risk of both cyberbullying perpetration and cybervictimization. Our findings confirm and extend the research on the role of family and peer effects, as well as emotion regulation in cyberbullying engagement. Moreover, our results have important implications for prevention and intervention programs involving family and peer support.

Abstract:Purpose The aim of the study is to examine cyberbullying, psychosocial problems and the factors affecting them among adolescents. Design and methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in Türkiye. The population of the study consisted of 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students from a public middle school. Data were collected through a descriptive characteristics questionnaire, Cyberbullying Scale, and Pediatric Symptom Checklist. Results Both psychosocial problems and cyberbullying levels were found to be significantly higher in students who were male, in the 7th and 8th grades, and who used the internet for 3 h or more per day ( p < .05). It was found that the level of psychosocial problems was significantly higher in students who had chronic diseases, who used medication regularly, and whose parents had a high school education or lower ( p < .05). A weak positive correlation was found between the Pediatric Symptom Checklist and Cyberbullying Scale ( r = 0.169, p < .001). Daily internet usage time and cyberbullying explained 7.6 % of psychosocial problems. Conclusions The study found that adolescents' psychosocial problems were associated with the level of cyberbullying, and that gender, grade level, and daily internet use duration affected psychosocial problems and cyberbullying, while the presence of a chronic disease and the level of parental education affected psychosocial problems. Daily internet usage time and cyberbullying were predictors of psychosocial problems. It is recommended that educational programs on safe internet use be provided, especially for male adolescents in grades 7–8 who spend more than 3 h a day on the internet.

Effect of Family Communication Patterns and Peer Relationships on Cyber Victimization and Bullying: Mediating Effect of Internet Addiction

Abstract:Objective: The aim of this study is to examine the effects of family communication patterns, peer relationships and internet addiction on cyber victimization and bullying and to evaluate the mediating effect of internet addiction through a model. Method: A total of 320 students between the ages of 14-19 studying in 8 high schools of 4 different types in Izmir province participated in the study. Sociodemographic information form, Revised Cyberbullying Inventory, Young Internet Addiction Scale, Peer Relationship Scale and Family Communication Patterns Scale were applied. Results: 49.9% of the participants were male with an average age of 16.25±1.13 years. 95.4% had a cell phone, 71.2% had a computer, and 42.5% had a tablet. The majority of the students (67.5%) can use the internet as much as they want without parental supervision and spend more than five hours a day on the internet (30.5%). In multivariate analysis, cyber victimization and internet addiction were significantly associated with peer, permissive and protective family type, while internet addiction was found to be associated with permissive and protective family type in cyber bullying. In the path analysis, the total effect of peer relationships and family communication on cyber victimization is β=0.212 and β=0.144, respectively. The total effect on cyberbullying was β=0.158 and β=0.138, respectively. Conclusion: Cyber victimization and bullying are influenced by peer relationships, family communication and internet addiction. The factors that cause internet addiction and thus cyber victimization and bullying in young people should be well identified and monitored together with the impact pathways.

Abstract:The aim of this study is to examine the digital footprint awareness of students while surfing on cyberbullying, cyber security and social networks with demographic data such as class, school, gender, internet usage level. This research was carried out using a descriptive survey model. The study group of the research consisted of 467 volunteer students studying at Anatolian and vocational high schools in Çorum. Research data were collected using the Digital Footprint Awareness Scale for Secondary School Students, Personal Cyber Security Scale, and Cyberbullying Scales for High School Students. The obtained data were analyzed using arithmetic mean, standard deviation, ANOVA, MANOVA, and logistic regression analysis. Because of this research, vocational high school students exhibit more cyberbullying behavior than Anatolian high school students, female students exhibit less cyberbullying behavior than male students, cyberbullying behavior increases as the time spent on the internet increases, and there is no difference according to classes. When the cyber security levels are examined, it is seen that there is no difference according to gender, internet usage level, and classes, but it differs according to the type of school and the Anatolian high school students have higher cyber security levels than the vocational high school students.

Psycho-Social Correlates of Cyberbullying among Polish Adolescents

Abstract:Cyberbullying has recently attracted attention due to its increasing prevalence and serious consequences for both victims and perpetrators. The objective of this population-based study was to examine the determinants of a person becoming a perpetrator of cyberbullying, including personal resources (emotional self-regulation, self-esteem, internal locus of control, optimism), social skills (prosocial behavior, assertiveness, cognitive empathy, cooperation), peer relationships (peer support, threats from peers, peer rejection, dislike of peers), and problematic Internet use (excessive Internet use, impulsive reactions to Internet deprivation). Participants (N = 541) were students at elementary schools (age 14-15) in Ostroleka, a city in central-eastern Poland. Two-part regression was used to explore protective/risk factors of the likelihood of an individual using cyberviolence (dichotomous part: involvement in violence) and how often it is used (continuous part: frequency of cyberbullying). The results showed that the emotional component is crucial to cyberbullying, as indicated by the importance of emotional self-control, which reduces the frequency of cyberbullying. Other important factors are assertiveness, impulsive response to limited Internet access (which increases the likelihood of engaging in cyberbullying) and fear of peers (which reduces its frequency). In turn, the importance of pro-sociality (which inhibits engagement) and peer support (which promotes engagement) points to the second important component of cyberbullying-that is, group mechanisms. At the same time, the results indicate that while the importance of Internet addiction as a risk factor for cyberbullying should not be underestimated, the amount of time spent online cannot be seen as the source of the problem. The study leads to the conclusion that effective interventions targeting cyberbullying should focus on the development of more adaptive styles of coping with emotions.
Traditional school bullying and cyberbullying: Prevalence, the effect on mental health problems and self-harm behavior

Abstract:Bullying is widely recognized as a major psychosocial problem with substantial negative consequences. The current study aimed to estimate the prevalence of traditional school bullying and cyberbullying and reciprocal associations between bullying involvement and mental health problems. The sample of the study consisted of 6202 middle and high school students (age 11-18, M= 14.4 ±1.9 years, 54% boy). Bullying involvement, self-harm behavior, anxiety, depression, and psychosocial difficulties were assessed by self-report questionnaire. The prevalence of traditional school bullying and cyberbullying victimization was 33% (95% CI 32.1-34.5%) and 17% (95% CI 16.3-18.2%), respectively. The prevalence of traditional school bullying and cyberbullying perpetration was 22.4% (95% CI 21.3-23.4%) and 10.4% (95% CI 9.7-11.3%), respectively. Bullying involvement –as a victim, perpetrator, or both- was associated with anxiety, depression, psychosocial difficulties, and self-harm behavior. Girls were more likely to be affected than boys in mental health outcomes. A significant association between bullying victimization and negative mental health outcomes were also observed. These findings provide evidence to intervention strategies need to target both traditional and cyberbullying involvement. Understanding the risk profile will help create useful and appropriate interventions, which will reduce the early effect of bullying on mental health and modify the clinical course.

Abstract:Introduction. Every year, the living space of the individual is expanding due to Internet technologies, turning the ordinary human environment into a space of mixed reality. At the same time, there is an interference of forms and strategies of behavior already famil-iar to a person from reality with those that virtual reality opens. This not only leads to a new experience of human interaction, but can also catalyze personal and behavioral de-viations. The purpose of the article is to describe the criteria and individual forms of de-viant behavior of a person in the Internet space. Materials and methods of research. The aim of the study was to identify the relationships between the form of deviant behavior of a person in the Internet space and his/her personal characteristics in adolescence. Dur-ing the empirical study, the following methodological tools were used: a questionnaire to determine the level of personality online activity (A.I. Luchinkina, 2014), the “Orien-tation” scale of the “Personality in Virtual Space” questionnaire (A.I. Luchinkina, 2014), the “Cyberbullying Propensity” questionnaire (I.S. Luchinkina, 2019), the Cognitive Er-rors in Internet Communication (CEC) questionnaire (Luchinkina, 2019), the SPA ques-tionnaire (Rogers-Diamond, 2002), a method for diagnosing character accentuations (C. Leongard – G. Schmishek, 2004). The results of the study and their discussion. The study identified groups of respondents in the adolescent sample who are prone to cyberbully-ing, but who occupy different role positions in it. It was determined that there is a pro-nounced correlation between the position in bullying and individual individual-personal the characteristics of users, the peculiarities of their thinking.
School Bullying, Mental Health, and Wellbeing in Adolescents: Mediating Impact of Positive Psychological Orientations

Abstract:School bullying is a serious psychosocial problem due to its detrimental effects on youth school functioning and adjustment. The present study explored the effects of victimization and perpetration experiences on positive psychological orientations, mental health problems, and subjective wellbeing in high school students. Participants of the study included 456 adolescents studying in two public high schools in a city of Turkey. They were 52.5% (239) female and 47.5% (217) male, and their ages ranged between 13 and 19 years (M = 15.53, SD = 1.13). Findings from the analyses indicated that adolescents in victim and perpetrator groups reported significantly fewer positive psychological orientations, diminished subjective wellbeing, and greater emotional and behavioral problems compared with their non-involved peers. Further outcomes revealed that positive psychological orientations mediated the link between school bullying and mental health problems as well as wellbeing, suggesting the importance of these constructs in developing effective intervention strategies to prevent school bullying and promote youth mental health and wellbeing in school settings.

Abstract:By investigating the impact of dark personality traits on adolescent health, this study explores the interplay among economic disadvantage, spectator sports involvement, and cyber victimization. We analyzed data from 1844 students aged 13-17 in a school district in the USA, and our findings reveal positive associations between economic disadvantage and both Machiavellianism and psychopathy, influencing negative emotions-driven eating. Spectator sports engagement exhibits links with Machiavellianism and narcissism, suggesting potential drawbacks to competitive behaviors. Cyber victimization shows associations with psychopathy and negative emotions-driven eating. The results illuminate the dynamic associations between emotional eating and health outcomes, including BMI and perceived quality of life. These findings deepen our understanding of how dark personality is shaped and subsequently influences adolescents' well-being, offering insights for targeted interventions.

Abstract:Cyberbullying is a repeated violent behavior aimed at hurting another person directed by an individual or a group towards the victim using technological means such as a computer or a mobile phone (Kowalski, Morgan, and Limber, 2012). The current study examined the phenomenon of cyberbullying among children and youth in Israel. The purpose of was to examine the correlation between bully and victim, and emotional-social aspects—social support, sense of loneliness and sense of self-efficacy—that constitute risk factors and protective factors. The study involved 1,094 elementary, middle school and high school students, who completed four questionnaires that addressed cyber-bullying and the social and emotional aspects: Social support, loneliness, self-efficacy and personal well-being. It was found that the less social support the students have, the lower their sense of self-efficacy; the lonelier they feel and the more they experience a lower sense of well-being, the greater the likelihood that they will participate in cyberbullying, mainly by sending offensive pictures or videos.

Abstract:This study aimed to find out how much friends, parents, and teachers affected the cyberbullying behaviors of teenagers research was planned to Analysis the “Effect of Cyber bullying among University Students, how do peers support in recovering from mental health problems”. To explore research questions, data were collected from a random sample of approximately 200 students. A self made questionnaire was used by the researcher. That questionnaire was divided in 4 sub-scales. Total statements in questionnaire were 32. Despite of these 32 statements, 8 demographics was also asked in questionnaire,( Gender, age, department, programme, mental and physical health and use of social networking sites,). Demographic factors were used to compare results. Data was collected randomly. After collection of all data, each questionnaire was given a code. After coding, data was entered into Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21.0. Then frequency and percentage towards each item was calculated to find out awareness about cyber bullying in university students. At the end findings, discussion, conclusions and recommendations were drawn.

Abstract:We live in the age of global digitalization of all routine processes, which allows us to quickly carry out activities in various areas of life. In our world, for many years, along with analog reality, there has been a digital one. Since much of the communication between children and adolescents takes place in the digital space, conflicts are now fought not only in analogue, but increasingly in digital form. This facilitates bullying and greatly increases its harmful potential. Unfortunately, not all innovations have exclusively positive properties. Some achievements of science and technology can be used against a person. One of these was the Internet. In the article, we considered such a phenomenon as cyberbullying. The orientation of the personality of the participants, the causes of occurrence, as well as the consequences and methods of prevention were studied.
Modeling the factors related to sensibility in cyberbullying of university students

Abstract:It is crucial to raise awareness against cyberbullying, increase sensibility, and identify effective factors to prevent this behavior. The purpose of this study is to model the factors associated with the cyberbullying sensibility of university students. 131 university students participated in the study. Participants were selected through purposive sampling based on their experience with using digital technologies. Data were collected using a self-description form and four scales. Partial Least Squares (PLS) structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to model the variables associated with cyberbullying vulnerability. As a result of the research, while family harmony was associated with social media use intensity, multiscreen addiction, and psychological well-being, it was not associated with academic success. Social media use intensity is associated with multiscreen addiction. Multiscreen addiction is related to academic success and sensibility to cyberbullying. While there is no relationship between psychological well-being and academic success, there is a significant relationship between sensibility in cyberbullying.

Abstract:Objective: Cyberbullying is a new type of bullying activity due to the advancement of digital technology as compared to traditional bullying. This study aims to examine the influence of attitude, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control on cyberbullying behavioural intention on social media among adolescents and the mediating effect of empathy between these variables. The questionnaire survey was conducted mainly in West Peninsular Malaysia (Selangor, Penang, Ipoh and Johor Bahru) and a total of 219 respondents among adolescents were successfully collected. The data collected are being analysed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the use of the Partial Least Square approach (PLS). The results of the relationship between three independent variables on the mediating variable and cyberbullying behavioural intention as the dependent variable for this study. Attitude and perceived behavioural control have a significant relationship on cyberbullying behavioural intention (p 0.05) and therefore H4b is rejected. Overall, all hypotheses are accepted except for H2 and H4b are rejected in this study. Furthermore, for future studies, it is recommended to include other components of empathy such as cognitive and affective, other personality traits of self-esteem and loneliness as the mediating effect that would give better insight towards cyberbullying behavioural intention in Malaysia during the pandemic situation.
