Abstract:In this paper, we first prove that homogeneous spaces $E_6/A_4$ and $E_6/A_1$ admit Einstein metrics which are $Ad(T\times A_1\times A_4)$-invariant, and then show that they admit Non-Riemannian Einstein-Randers metrics.

Abstract:In this paper, the necessary and sufficient conditions for Matsumoto metrics $F=\frac{\alpha^2}{\alpha-\beta}$ to be Einstein are given. It is shown that if the length of $\beta$ with respect to $\alpha$ is constant, then the Matsumoto metric $F$ is an Einstein metric if and only if $\alpha$ is Ricci-flat and $\beta$ is parallel with respect to $\alpha$. A nontrivial example of Ricci flat Matsumoto metrics is given.

Abstract:A generalized Einstein-Hilbert functional in Finsler geometry is defined and its Euler-Lagrange equation is derived, which depends on not only the Ricci scalar but also the mean Landsberg curvature. Such critical metrics include usual Riemann-Einstein metrics. Some non-Riemannian examples of critical metrics are given. Moreover, some rigidity theorems for a Finsler metric to be Riemannian are obtained.

Abstract:We study the existence of projectable $G$-invariant Einstein metrics on the total space of $G$-equivariant fibrations $M=G/L\to G/K$, for a compact connected semisimple Lie group $G$. We obtain necessary conditions for the existence of such Einstein metrics in terms of appropriate Casimir operators, which is a generalization of the result by Wang and Ziller about Einstein normal metrics. We describe binormal Einstein metrics which are the orthogonal sum of the normal metrics on the fiber and on the base. The special case when the restriction to the fiber and the projection to the base are also Einstein is also considered. As an application, we prove the existence of a non-standard Einstein invariant metric on the Kowalski $n$-symmetric spaces.

Abstract:In the paper "Einstein metrics on compact simple Lie groups attached to standard triples", the authors introduced the definition of standard triples and proved that every compact simple Lie group $G$ attached to a standard triple $(G,K,H)$ admits a left-invariant Einstein metric which is not naturally reductive except the standard triple $(\Sp(4),2\Sp(2),4\Sp(1))$. For the triple $(\Sp(4),2\Sp(2),4\Sp(1))$, we find there exists an involution pair of $\sp(4)$ such that $4\sp(1)$ is the fixed point of the pair, and then give the decomposition of $\sp(4)$ as a direct sum of irreducible $\ad(4\sp(1))$-modules. But $\Sp(4)/4\Sp(1)$ is not a generalized Wallach space. Furthermore we give left-invariant Einstein metrics on $\Sp(4)$ which are non-naturally reductive and $\Ad(4\Sp(1))$-invariant. For the general case $(\Sp(2n_1n_2),2\Sp(n_1n_2),2n_2\Sp(n_1))$, there exist $2n_2-1$ involutions of $\sp(2n_1n_2)$ such that $2n_2\sp(n_1))$ is the fixed point of these $2n_2-1$ involutions, and it follows the decomposition of $\sp(2n_1n_2)$ as a direct sum of irreducible $\ad(2n_2\sp(n_1))$-modules. In order to give new non-naturally reductive and $\Ad(2n_2\Sp(n_1)))$-invariant Einstein metrics on $\Sp(2n_1n_2)$, we prove a general result, i.e. $\Sp(2k+l)$ admits at least two non-naturally reductive Einstein metrics which are $\Ad(\Sp(k)\times\Sp(k)\times\Sp(l))$-invariant if $k<l$. It implies that every compact simple Lie group $\Sp(n)$ for $n\geq 4$ admits at least $2[\frac{n-1}{3}]$ non-naturally reductive left-invariant Einstein metrics.

Abstract:Given two homogeneous spaces of the form G_1/K and G_2/K, where G_1 and G_2 are compact simple Lie groups, we study the existence problem for G_1xG_2-invariant Einstein metrics on the homogeneous space M=G_1xG_2/K. For the large subclass C of spaces having three pairwise inequivalent isotropy irreducible summands (12 infinite families and 70 sporadic examples), we obtain that existence is equivalent to the existence of a real root for certain quartic polynomial depending on the dimensions and two Killing constants, which allows a full classification and the possibility to weigh the existence and non-existence pieces of C.

Einstein metrics on homogeneous spaces $H\times H/ΔK$

Abstract:Given any compact homogeneous space $H/K$ with $H$ simple, we consider the new space $M=H\times H/\Delta K$, where $\Delta K$ denotes diagonal embedding, and study the existence, classification and stability of $H\times H$-invariant Einstein metrics on $M$, as a first step into the largely unexplored case of homogeneous spaces of compact non-simple Lie groups. We find unstable Einstein metrics on $M$ for most spaces $H/K$ such that their standard metric is Einstein (e.g., isotropy irreducible) and the Killing form of $\mathfrak{k}$ is a multiple of the Killing form of $\mathfrak{h}$ (e.g., $K$ simple), a class which contains $17$ families and $50$ individual examples. A complete classification is obtained in the case when $H/K$ is an irreducible symmetric space with $K$ simple. We also study the behavior of the scalar curvature function on the space of all normal metrics on $M=H\times H/\Delta K$ (none of which is Einstein), obtaining that the standard metric is a global minimum.

Abstract:We introduce a systematic method to produce left-invariant, non-Ricci-flat Einstein metrics of indefinite signature on nice nilpotent Lie groups. On a nice nilpotent Lie group, we give a simple algebraic characterization of non-Ricci-flat left-invariant Einstein metrics in both the class of metrics for which the nice basis is orthogonal and a more general class associated to order two permutations of the nice basis. We obtain classifications in dimension 8 and, under the assumption that the root matrix is surjective, dimension 9; moreover, we prove that Einstein nilpotent Lie groups of nonzero scalar curvature exist in every dimension $\geq 8$.

Abstract:It is an important problem in differential geometry to find non-naturally reductive homogeneous Einstein metrics on homogeneous manifolds. In this paper, we consider this problem for some coset spaces of compact simple Lie groups. A new method to construct invariant non-naturally reductive Einstein metrics on normal homogeneous Einstein manifolds is presented. In particular, we show that on the standard homogeneous Einstein manifolds, except for some special cases, there exist plenty of such metrics. A further interesting result of this paper is that on some compact semisimple Lie groups, there exist a large number of left invariant non-naturally reductive Einstein metrics which are not product metrics.

Abstract:This paper initiates the study of the Einstein equation on homogeneous supermanifolds. First, we produce explicit curvature formulas for graded Riemannian metrics on these spaces. Next, we present a construction of homogeneous supermanifolds by means of Dynkin diagrams, resembling the construction of generalised flag manifolds in classical (non-super) theory. We describe the Einstein metrics on several classes of spaces obtained through this approach. Our results provide examples of compact homogeneous supermanifolds on which the Einstein equation has no solutions, discrete families of solutions, and continuous families of Ricci-flat solutions among invariant metrics. These examples demonstrate that the finiteness conjecture from classical homogeneous geometry fails on supermanifolds, and challenge the intuition furnished by Bochner's vanishing theorem.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a class of homogeneous Finsler metrics of vanishing S-curvature on a (4n + 3)-dimensional sphere. We find a second order ordinary differential equation that characterizes Einstein metrics with constant Ricci curvature 1 in this class. Using this equation we show that there are infinitely many homogeneous Einstein metrics on S4n+3 of constant Ricci curvature 1 and vanishing S-curvature. They contain the canonical metric on S4n+3 of constant sectional curvature 1 and the Einstein metric of non-constant sectional curvature given by Jensen in 1973.
Generalised Einstein metrics on Lie groups

Abstract:We continue the systematic study of left-invariant generalised Einstein metrics on Lie groups initiated in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2206.01157" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2206.01157">arXiv:2206.01157</a>. Our approach is based on a new reformulation of the corresponding algebraic system. For a fixed Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$, the unknowns of the system consist of a scalar product $g$ and a $3$-form $H$ on $\mathfrak{g}$ as well as a linear form $\delta$ on $\mathfrak{g}\oplus\mathfrak{g}^*$. As in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2206.01157" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2206.01157">arXiv:2206.01157</a>, the Lie bracket of $\mathfrak{g}$ is considered part of the unknowns. In the Riemannian case, we show that the generalised Einstein condition always reduces to the commutator ideal and we provide a full classification of solvable generalised Einstein Lie groups. In the Lorentzian case, under the additional assumption $\delta=0$, we classify -- up to one case -- all almost Abelian generalised Einstein Lie groups. We then particularize to four dimensions and provide a full classification of generalised Einstein Riemannian Lie groups as well as generalised Einstein Lorentzian Lie groups with $\delta =0$ and non-degenerate commutator ideal.

Abstract:Invariant Einstein metrics on generalized Wallach spaces have been classified except SO(k + l + m)/SO(k) × SO(l) × SO(m). In this paper, we first give a survey on the study of invariant Einstein metrics on generalized Wallach spaces, and prove that there are infinitely many spaces of the type SO(k+l+m)/SO(k) × SO(l) × SO(m) admitting exactly two, three, or four invariant Einstein metrics up to a homothety.

Abstract:We prove the existence of complete cohomogeneity one triaxial Kähler-Einstein metrics in dimension four under an action of the Euclidean group $E(2)$. We also demonstrate local existence of Ricci flat Kähler metrics of a related type that are given via generalized PDEs, and determine, under mild conditions, whether they are complete. The common framework for both metric types is a frame-dependent system of Lie bracket relations and generalized PDEs yielding a class of Kähler-Einstein metrics on $4$-manifolds which includes all diagonal Bianchi type A metrics.

Abstract:We study existence of invariant Einstein metrics on complex Stiefel manifolds $G/K = \SU(\ell+m+n)/\SU(n) $ and the special unitary groups $G = \SU(\ell+m+n)$. We decompose the Lie algebra $\frak g$ of $G$ and the tangent space $\frak p$ of $G/K$, by using the generalized flag manifolds $G/H = \SU(\ell+m+n)/\s(\U(\ell)\times\U(m)\times\U(n))$. We parametrize scalar products on the 2-dimensional center of the Lie algebra of $H$, and we consider $G$-invariant and left invariant metrics determined by $\Ad(\s(\U(\ell)\times\U(m)\times\U(n))$-invariant scalar products on $\frak g$ and $\frak p$ respectively. Then we compute their Ricci tensor for such metrics. We prove existence of $\Ad(\s(\U(1)\times\U(2)\times\U(2))$-invariant Einstein metrics on $V_3\bb{C}^{5}=\SU(5)/\SU(2)$, $\Ad(\s(\U(2)\times\U(2)\times\U(2))$-invariant Einstein metrics on $V_4\bb{C}^{6}=\SU(6)/\SU(2)$, and $\Ad(\s(\U(m)\times\U(m)\times\U(n))$-invariant Einstein metrics on $V_{2m}\bb{C}^{2m+n}=\SU(2m+n)/\SU(n)$. We also prove existence of $\Ad(\s(\U(1)\times\U(2)\times\U(2))$-invariant Einstein metrics on the compact Lie group $\SU(5)$, which are not naturally reductive. The Lie group $\SU(5)$ is the special unitary group of smallest rank known for the moment, admitting non naturally reductive Einstein metrics. Finally, we show that the compact Lie group $\SU(4+n)$ admits two non naturally reductive $\Ad(\s(\U(2)\times\U(2)\times\U(n)))$-invariant Einstein metrics for $ 2 \leq n \leq 25$, and four non naturally reductive Einstein metrics for $n\ge 26$. This extends previous results of K.~ Mori about non naturally reductive Einstein metrics on $\SU(4+n)$ ($n \geq 2$).

Abstract:In this paper, we consider half-flat $SU(3)$-structures and the subclasses of coupled and double structures. In the general case we show that the intrinsic torsion form $w_1^-$ is constant in each of the two subclasses. We then consider the problem of finding half-flat structures inducing Einstein metrics on homogeneous spaces. We give an example of a left invariant half-flat (non coupled and non double) structure inducing an Einstein metric on $S^3\times S^3$ and we show there does not exist any left invariant coupled structure inducing an ${\rm Ad}(S^1)$-invariant Einstein metric on it. Finally, we show that there are no coupled structures inducing the Einstein metric on Einstein solvmanifolds and on homogeneous Einstein manifolds of nonpositive sectional curvature.

Abstract:Let $M=G/K$ be a compact homogeneous space and assume that $G$ and $K$ have many simple factors. We show that the topological condition of having maximal third Betti number, in the sense that $b_3(M)=s-1$ if $G$ has $s$ simple factors, so called {\it aligned}, leads to a relatively manageable algebraic structure on the isotropy representation, paving the way to the computation of Ricci curvature formulas for a large class of $G$-invariant metrics. As an application, we study the existence and classification of Einstein metrics on aligned homogeneous spaces.
