Abstract:In this paper, we study the relations between the log term of the Szeg\"o kernel of the unit circle bundle of the dual line bundle of an ample line bundle over a compact K\"ahlermanifold. We proved a local rigidity theorem. The result is related to the classical Ramadanov Conjecture.

Abstract:Recent study in K-stability suggests that Kawamata log terminal (klt) singularities whose local volumes are bounded away from zero should be bounded up to special degeneration. We show that this is true in dimension three, or when the minimal log discrepancies of Kollár components are bounded from above. We conjecture that the minimal log discrepancies of Kollár components are always bounded from above, and verify it in dimension three when the local volumes are bounded away from zero. We also answer a question from Han, Liu, and Qi on the relation between log canonical thresholds and local volumes.

Abstract:We extend our family rigidity and vanishing theorems in [LiuMaZ] to the Spin c case.In particular, we prove a ^-theory version of the main results of [H], [Liul, Theorem B] for a family of almost complex manifolds.0. Introduction.Let M, B be two compact smooth manifolds, and TT : M -» B be a smooth fibration with compact fibre X.Let TX be the relative tangent bundle.Assume that a compact Lie group G acts fiberwise on M, that is, the action preserves each fiber of TT.Let P be a family of G-equivariant elliptic operators along the fiber X.Then the family index of P, Ind(P), is a well-defined element in K(B) (cf.[AS]) and is a virtual G-representation (cf.[LiuMal]).We denote by (Ind(P)) G £ K(B) the G-invariant part of Ind(P).A family of elliptic operator P is said to be rigid on the equivariant Chern character level with respect to this G-action, if the equivariant Chern character ch 5 (Ind(P)) G H*(B) is independent of g G G. Abstract:We introduce the notion of log R-maps, and develop a proper moduli stack of stable log R-maps in the case of a hybrid gauged linear sigma model. Two virtual cycles (canonical and reduced) are constructed for these moduli stacks. The main results are two comparison theorems relating the reduced virtual cycle to the cosection localized virtual cycle, as well as the reduced virtual cycle to the canonical virtual cycle. This sets the foundation of a new technique for computing higher genus Gromov-Witten invariants of complete intersections.

Abstract:We use the theory of logarithmic line bundles to construct compactifications of spaces of roots of a line bundle on a family of curves, generalising work of a number of authors. This runs via a study of the torsion in the tropical and logarithmic jacobians (recently constructed by Molcho and Wise). Our moduli space carries a `double ramification cycle' measuring the locus where the given root is isomorphic to the trivial bundle, and we give a tautological formula for this class in the language of piecewise polynomial functions (as recently developed by Molcho-Pandharipande-Schmitt and Holmes-Schwarz).

Abstract:We prove that every irreducible component of the coarse Kollár-Shepherd-Barron and Alexeev (KSBA) moduli space of stable log Calabi-Yau surfaces is a finite quotient of a projective toric variety. This verifies a conjecture of Hacking-Keel-Yu. The proof combines tools from log smooth deformation theory, the minimal model program, punctured log Gromov-Witten theory and mirror symmetry.

Abstract:We give a purely complex geometric proof of the existence of the Bergman kernel expansion. Our method provides a sharper estimate, and in the case that the metrics are real analytic, we prove that the remainder decays faster than any polynomial.

Abstract:In this paper, we provide an explicit description of the Zariski-open subset of the moduli space of rank 2 parabolic logarithmic connections in the case $g\geq 2$. Our approach is to analyze the underlying parabolic bundles and the apparent singularities of the parabolic connections. We prove that a Zariski-open subset of the product of a projective space and the moduli space of parabolic bundles gives a Darboux coordinate for the moduli space of parabolic connections.

Abstract:A wealth of information on multiloop string amplitudes is encoded in fermionic two-point functions known as Szegö kernels. In this paper we show that cyclic products of any number of Szegö kernels on a Riemann surface of arbitrary genus may be decomposed into linear combinations of modular tensors on moduli space that carry all the dependence on the spin structure $\delta$. The $\delta$-independent coefficients in these combinations carry all the dependence on the marked points and are composed of the integration kernels of higher-genus polylogarithms. We determine the antiholomorphic moduli derivatives of the $\delta$-dependent modular tensors.

Abstract:There are two restriction maps of the logarithmic modules of plane arrangements in a three dimensional vector space. One is the Euler restriction and the other is the Ziegler restriction. The dimension of the cokernel of the Ziegler restriction map of logarithmic derivation modules has been well-studied for the freeness of hyperplane arrangements after Yoshinaga's celebrated criterion for freeness, which connects the second Betti number and the splitting type (exponents). However, though the Euler restriction has a longer history than the Ziegler restriction, the cokernel and its dimension of the Euler restriction have not been studied at all. The aim of this article is to study the cokernel and dimension of the Euler restriction maps in terms of combinatorics, more explicitly, the characteristic polynomial. We give an upper bound of that cokernel, and show the formula for that if the arrangement is free.

Szegő kernels and Scorza quartics on the moduli space of spin curves

Abstract:We describe an extension at the level of the moduli space of stable spin curves of genus g of the map associating to an ineffective spin structure its Scorza curve (equivalently, the vanishing locus of its Szegő kernel). We compute the class of the Szegő-Hodge bundle, then find an unconditional new interpretation, in terms of theta constants, of the Scorza quartic uniquely associated to an even spin structure. Our results describe the superperiod map from the moduli space of supersymmetric curves in the neighborhood of the theta-null divisor and provide a lower bound for the slope of the movable cone of the moduli space of spin curves.

Towards Logarithmic GLSM: The r-spin case

Abstract:In this article, we establish the logarithmic foundation for compactifying the moduli stacks of the gauged linear sigma model using stable log maps of Abramovich-Chen-Gross-Siebert. We then illustrate our method via the key example of Witten's $r$-spin class to construct a proper moduli stack with a reduced perfect obstruction theory whose virtual cycle recovers the $r$-spin virtual cycle of Chang-Li-Li. Indeed, our construction of the reduced virtual cycle is built upon the work of Chang-Li-Li by appropriately extending and modifying the Kiem-Li cosection along certain logarithmic boundary. In the subsequent article, we push the technique to a general situation. One motivation of our construction is to fit the gauged linear sigma model in the broader setting of Gromov-Witten theory so that powerful tools such as virtual localization can be applied. A project along this line is currently in progress leading to applications including computing loci of holomorphic differentials, and calculating higher genus Gromov-Witten invariants of quintic threefolds.

Global logarithmic deformation theory

Abstract:A classical problem in algebraic geometry is to construct smooth algebraic varieties with prescribed properties. In the approach via smoothings, one first constructs a degenerate scheme with the prescribed properties, and then shows the existence of a smooth variety degenerating to this scheme. Logarithmic geometry has given important new impulses to the second step of this approach, which we explore in this book. Degenerations, in particular in the context of mirror symmetry, often enjoy similar formal properties as smooth morphisms once considered from the logarithmic perspective. Logarithmic deformation theory has therefore become an effective tool for the construction of smoothings and the transfer of properties between smooth nearby fibers and the singular special fiber. The strongest existence result for deformations in classical algebraic geometry is the Bogomolov--Tian--Todorov theorem for Calabi--Yau varieties. A logarithmic variant, once established, constructs log smooth deformations. However, the logarithmic Bogomolov--Tian--Todorov theorem has resisted efforts to its proof for a while. Finally, a method to prove it was discovered in 2019 by Chan, Leung, and Ma. In this book, we explore this new approach to the logarithmic Bogomolov--Tian--Todorov theorem. We prove several variants of the abstract unobstructedness theorem, some of which are new and stronger than previously known results. We investigate its application to the global deformation theory of log smooth and mildly log singular spaces, obtaining unobstructedness results for log Calabi--Yau spaces, some log Fano spaces, and line bundles. Special care is taken to allow sufficiently mild log singularities, including all log singularities that appear in the Gross--Siebert construction of toric log Calabi--Yau mirror pairs.
