Abstract:A retrospective study. The aim of this study was to compare clinical and radiological outcomes of the anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) with a novel zero-profile variable-angle (Zero-P VA) spacer and a traditional poly-ether-ether-ketone (PEEK) cage and plate system in cases pertaining to cervical radiculopathy/myelopathy.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem this paper attempts to address is: comparing the clinical and radiographic outcomes of single-level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) using a novel Zero-Profile Variable Angle (Zero-P VA) spacer versus the traditional polyetheretherketone (PEEK) cage with plate system, particularly in the treatment of cervical spondylosis (including cervical radiculopathy and myelopathy). Specifically, the study focuses on the following aspects: 1. **Clinical outcomes**: Evaluating the improvement of patients' symptoms before and after surgery using the Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score and Visual Analog Scale (VAS). 2. **Dysphagia**: Assessing the incidence of postoperative dysphagia using the Eating Assessment Tool-10 (EAT-10). 3. **Radiographic results**: Evaluating cervical alignment, fusion rate, and the occurrence of postoperative complications. The main objective of the study is to verify the superiority of the Zero-P VA spacer in preventing postoperative dysphagia and reducing potential complications, while ensuring its clinical outcomes are comparable to or better than traditional methods.
