Abstract:Four new species of the Australian genus of Eurybrachidae (Hemiptera, Fulgoromorpha) Olonia Stål, 1862 are described from northern Queensland: O. albomarginata sp. nov., O. aschei sp. nov., O. jackiei sp. nov. and O. lindae sp. nov. Host plants and natural history data are documented and additional new records provided for O. guillaumei Constant, 2018, O. hochae Constant, 2018, O. picea Kirkaldy, 1906, O. rubicunda (Walker, 1851) and O. soulierae Constant, 2018. Trophobiosis is recorded for the first time in the genus, between a female of O. hochae and ants of the genus Camponotus Mayr, 1861 (Hymenoptera, Formicidae), representing the second record of trophobiosis in Australian Eurybrachidae. The male terminalia of the new species are illustrated and photographs of collection and live specimens, distribution maps, biological data and an identification key are provided. The genus Olonia currently contains sixteen species.

Abstract:Ninety new country records are recorded for 44 species of Anisoscelini Laporte, 1832 (Heteroptera: Coreidae: Coreinae). Informal distributional records are recognized and included, and updated distributions are provided for all accounted species. The following new synonymy is proposed: Malvana Stål, 1865 (= Belonomus Uhler, 1869, n. syn. ) and Malvana serrulata Stål, 1865 (= Belonomus annulaticornis Uhler, 1869, n. syn. ). The rank of one genus is reinstated: Bitta Osuna, 1984, stat. resurr. (formerly a subgenus of Anisoscelis Latreille, 1829). The following new or restored combinations are proposed: Bitta affinis (Westwood, 1840), comb. reins. , Bitta alipes (Guérin-Méneville, 1833), comb. reins. , Bitta gradadia (Distant, 1881), comb. reins. , Bitta hymeniphera (Westwood, 1840), comb. reins. , Bitta lurida (Brailovsky, 2016), comb. nov. , and Bitta podalica Brailovsky & Mayorga, 1995, comb. reins. . We also present dichotomous keys to the twenty-nine genera of Anisoscelini, and to the species of the genera Anisoscelis Latreille, 1829 and Bitta Osuna, 1984.

Abstract:The results of a revision of the orchid genus Andinia are presented. The proposed classification is based on outcomes of morphological and molecular studies. Additionally, the similarity of the climatic niches occupied by representatives of the Andinia-complex was calculated and visualized. The highest number of Andinia representatives is found in the Eastern Cordillera real montane forests, while Neooreophilus species are found in two ecoregions—the Eastern Cordillera real montane forests, and the Northwestern Andes. According to the level of endemism, a very unique orchid flora was noted in the Guajira–Barranquilla xeric scrub ecoregion, as well as in the Isthmian-Pacific and the Ucayali moist forests, where single endemic species occur. In the proposed classification, nine genera are recognized within the Andinia-complex, three of which (Xenosiella, Chicalia, and Minuscula) are described in this paper. A key to the identification of all genera is provided. Additionally, sections Amplectentes and Bilamellatae of Neooreophilus are elevated to the subgeneric rank, and subgenus Aenigma is here considered as a separate genus. A complete list of representatives of each taxon is provided, and new combinations are proposed accordingly. A new species of Neooreophilus from Colombia is described.

Abstract:Fomitiporella has been phylogenetically studied in order to taxonomically treat it more naturally. In order to establish Fomitiporella s.s., studies on the holotype of F. umbrinella (the type species of Fomitiporella), and new specimens from the type locality, were carried out. Additionally, the holotype of Fuscoporella coruscans (the type species of Fuscoporella) was studied. A new morphological conceptual delimitation of Fomitiporella s.s. is presented, with a more restricted distribution pattern, and Fuscoporella is chosen as a synonym of Fomitiporella. Moreover, Rajchenbergia, gen. nov. is segregated from Fomitiporella s.l. based on morphology, phylogenetic relationships and host distribution. Taxonomic implications for the group and other related taxa are discussed. Fomitiporella americana is synonymized with F. umbrinella, F. micropora with Fomitiporella coruscans, comb. nov., and F. melleopora is now in Tropicoporus melleoporus, comb. nov., based on type and reference material studies.

Abstract:A recent phylogenetic study showed that species assigned to the newly recognised genus Pectinariella Szlach., Mytnik & Grochocka (previously treated as Angraecum Bory sect. Pectinaria Benth.) are polyphyletic, comprising a clade with species primarily in Madagascar and the Western Indian Ocean islands (including the type) and another non-sister clade whose members occur in continental Africa and the Gulf of Guinea islands. In order to render Pectinariella monophyletic, the five continental African species must therefore be removed. A new genus, Afropectinariella M.Simo & Stévart, is described and the following combinations are made: Afropectinariella atlantica (Stévart & Droissart) M.Simo & Stévart, Afropectinariella doratophylla (Summerh.) M.Simo & Stévart, Afropectinariella gabonensis (Summerh.) M.Simo & Stévart, Afropectinariella pungens (Schltr.) M.Simo & Stévart and Afropectinariella subulata (Lindl.) M.Simo & Stévart.

Abstract:A replacement name Ardisia lallaniana R.Kr. Singh is here proposed for the illegitimate A. montana King & Gamble, being a later homonym of A. montana C.F. Gaertn. Also, the name A. zeylanica C.B. Clarke is a later homonym of A. zeylanica (Gaertn.) Lam. ex Forsyth f. and for the former, Tinus clarkeana Kuntze is the only available legitimate name. Therefore, Ardisia clarkeana (Kuntze) R.Kr. Singh comb. nova is here proposed for the illegitimate A. zeylanica C.B. Clarke. Lectotypes are designated here for Anguillaria zeylanica Gaertn., Ardisia amplexicaulis Bedd., A. moonii C.B. Clarke, A. pauciflora B. Heyne ex Wall., A. pauciflora var. wightiana A.DC., A. rhomboidea Wight and A. zeylanica C.B. Clarke. Additionally, the correct author citation for A. pauciflora is clarified.

Abstract:A monotypic South American genus Micreurygenius Pic, 1942 (hitherto in Eurygeniinae LeConte, 1862) is synonymized with Ischyropalpus La Ferté-Sénectère, 1849 (Anthicini Latreille, 1819) and, accordingly, moved to Anthicinae Latreille, 1819. A new combination is proposed for its only known species, Ischyropalpus angustatus (Pic, 1942) comb. nov., the species is herein tentatively attributed to the I. eryngii Werner, 1966 informal species-group. The Lemodinae Matthews, 1987 is synonymized with Copobaeninae Abdullah, 1969 and Copobaenus Fairmaire & Germain, 1863 is found congeneric with Trichananca Blanchard, 1891 syn. nov. based on adult morphology. An updated key to Eurygeniinae LeConte, 1862 tribes is presented. Setosicornia Pic, 1911, an obscure monotypic South American tenebrionoid genus, is redescribed and moved to the anthicid tribe Eurygeniini (Eurygeniinae) from Ripiphoridae Laporte 1840. A monotypic South American genus Atenizoides Gilmour, 1968, originally placed in Cerambycinae Audinet-Serville, 1832 (Cerambycidae Audinet-Serville, 1832), and placed in the Eurygeniini by Phillip and Ivie (1989), is found to be congeneric with Setosicornia and a new generic synonym is introduced. A new combination is proposed for its only known species, Setosicornia curacaoae (Gilmour, 1968) comb. nov., and this species is redescribed herein.

Abstract:Abstract The Ornithocephalus clade comprises small epiphytes distributed in 12 genera and c. 120 species. Their flowers have complex structures, the homologies of which are difficult to interpret. Through ontogenetic studies, we identified the origins of the tabula infrastigmatica, floral appendages located in the gynostemium and the labellar callus. Using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), we analysed flowers at various developmental stages from representatives of three genera: Ornithocephalus (two species), Phymatidium (two species) and Zygostates (three species). The tabula infrastigmatica of Phymatidium results from the fusion of the lateral carpels and staminodes, with different degrees of synorganization across species and can be considered a plesiomorphic characteristic within the clade. Contradicting hypotheses of a staminodial origin, the auricles present in this genus derive from the gynostemium. In Zygostates, the lateral appendices derive from staminodes and can show different development degrees, whereas in Ornithocephaus that character has been lost. We corroborate the view that the labellum is a single organ derived from the median petal and the labellar callus is derived from it.

Abstract:Ophiocordycipitaceae is a diverse family comprising ecologically, economically, medicinally, and culturally important fungi. The family was recognized due to the polyphyly of the genus Cordyceps and the broad diversity of the mostly arthropod-pathogenic lineages of Hypocreales. The other two cordyceps-like families, Cordycipitaceae and Clavicipitaceae, will be revised taxonomically elsewhere. Historically, many species were placed in Cordyceps, but other genera have been described in this family as well, including several based on anamorphic features. Currently there are 24 generic names in use across both asexual and sexual life stages for species of Ophiocordycipitaceae. To reflect changes in Art. 59 in the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICN), we propose to protect and to suppress names within Ophiocordycipitaceae, and to present taxonomic revisions in the genus Tolypocladium, based on rigorous and extensively sampled molecular phylogenetic analyses. When approaching this task, we considered the principles of priority, monophyly, minimizing taxonomic revisions, and the practical utility of these fungi within the wider biological research community.

Abstract:The recently debated identity and incertus status of Cereus serruliflorus, Opuntia taylorii, O. tuna. and of its presumed close relatives, O. dillenii and O. jamaicensis from the Caribbean region, are here investigated to clarify the correct application of the names through an analysis of the protologues, original material, and examination of other specimens. One new endemic species to Jamaica (O. kingstoniana) was described; O. repens subsp. taylorii comb. nov. is proposed; an epitipe was designated for Cactus tuna (≡ O. tuna) and Cereus serruliflorus (≡ Serrulatocereus serrulatus); O. jamaicensis is here accepted as a valid species, distinct from O. tuna sensu auct.

Abstract:The diversity of the Neotropical subtribe Cranichidinae comprising mostly terrestrial orchids is still discussed by numerous taxonomists. The actual number of species classified in the genera of this group seems to be underestimated in the light of the recent revisions of the herbarium material. In this paper the taxonomic affinities of three controversial species considered as representatives of Cranichis: Pseudocranichis thysanochila, Ocampoa mexicana and Exalaria parviflora are discussed. Three new combinations, one within Pseudocranichis and two within Ocampoa are proposed. Results of the taxonomic revision of Colombian Cranichis are presented together with a key to the national representatives of the genus.

Abstract:As part of an ongoing taxonomic study of the genus Deyeuxia, typifications for 12 names belonging to subtribe Agrostidinae from South America are presented here. A neotype for Bromidium rigescens var. brevifolium is herein designated. Eleven names belonging to the genera Agrostis , Calamagrostis, and Deyeuxia are lectotypified. Epitypes for Calamagrostis heterophylla var. robustior and Deyeuxia velutina are designated.

Abstract:Background: Encyclia, is a genus with more than 200 species in the Neotropics, eight of which have been previously reported from Peru. During the evaluation of the orchid flora in the forests of the Sicchez district, a small population of an Encyclia species was found that could not be unequivocally matched to any previously known species in the country. Questions: Will the recent explorations of Northern Peru result in the reporting of new taxa for the country? Studied species: Orchidaceae, Laeliinae, Encyclia Hook, Encyclia naranjapatensis Dodson Study site and dates: Sicchez District, Ayabaca Province, Piura Department, Peru, 2022-2023. Methods: Specimens were collected and determined by consulting botanical collections available online, taxonomic treatments, checklists, and specialized literature. The conservation status was assessed according to IUCN methodology. Results: We report a novelty for Peru, Encyclia naranjapatensis, and an updated description including morphological information on relevant structures that will be used to diagnose this entity. In addition, E. naranjapatensis is part of a basal clade referred to as the E. diurna species group. The conservation status assessment results in Endangered and the species is linked to the Seasonally Dry Tropical Forest, an endangered ecosystem throughout the Neotropics. Conclusions: The recent entity located in Peru correspond to Encyclia naranjapatensis. This discovery allows us to investigate the geographical limits, discuss the phylogenetic and ecological affinities, update the original description, and evaluate its conservation status.

Abstract:The prokaryotic generic names Eoetvoesia Felföldi et al. 2014, Paludicola Li et al. 2017, Rivicola Sheu et al. 2014 and Sala Song et al. 2023 are illegitimate because they are later homonyms of the genus names Eoetvoesia Schulzer et al. 1866 (Ascomycota), Paludicola Wagler 1830 (Amphibia) and Paludicola Hodgson 1837 (Aves), Rivicola Fitzinger 1833 (Mollusca) and Sala Walker 1867 (Hemiptera) and the subgenus name Sala Ross 1937 (Hymenoptera), respectively (Principle 2 and Rule 51b(4) of the International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes). We therefore propose the replacement generic names Eoetvoesiella, Paludihabitans, Rivihabitans and Salella, with type species Eoetvoesiella caeni, Paludihabitans psychrotolerans, Rivihabitans pingtungensis and Sallella cibi, respectively.
An expanded circumscription of Trichocentrum (Orchidaceae: Oncidiinae) to include Grandiphyllum and Saundersia

Abstract:Linnaeus appears to have clubbed three distinct species under , a species from China and Indonesia that is the original , a species from India and Sri Lanka which is now recognized as , and a species from West Africa which is now called . After conducting field studies and examining the applicable protologues, original type material, world literature, and world herbaria, we conclude that for hundreds of years, workers have erroneously clubbed various species from India under . These species include from Northeast India and two common succulents from Western India described here as new species viz. and . An epitype for from Indonesia is designated to stabilize the species, is reinstated as a species, a neotype is designated for . is synonymized under , and is synonymized under .
