Abstract:In this paper, we investigate some new local Aronson-B\'enilan type gradient estimates for positive solutions of the porous medium equation $$ u_{t}=\Delta u^{m}, $$ under Ricci flow. As application, the related Harnack inequalities are derived. Our results generalize known results. These results in the paper can be regard as generalizing the gradient estimates of Lu-Ni-V\'{a}zquez-Villani and Huang-Huang-Li to the Ricci flow.

Abstract:In this paper we study gradient estimates for the positive solutions of the porous medium equation: \documentclass[12pt]{minimal}\usepackage{amsmath}\usepackage{wasysym}\usepackage{amsfonts}\usepackage{amssymb}\usepackage{amsbsy}\usepackage{mathrsfs}\usepackage{upgreek}\setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt}\begin{document}$$u_t=\Delta u^m$$\end{document} where m>1, which is a nonlinear version of the heat equation. We derive local gradient estimates of the Li–Yau type for positive solutions of porous medium equations on Riemannian manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded from below. As applications, several parabolic Harnack inequalities are obtained. In particular, our results improve the ones of Lu, Ni, Vázquez, and Villani (in J. Math. Pures Appl. 91:1–19, 2009). Moreover, our results recover the ones of Davies (in Cambridge Tracts Math vol. 92, 1989), Hamilton (in Comm. Anal. Geom. 1:113–125, 1993) and Li and Xu (in Adv. Math. 226:4456–4491, 2011).

We obtain Li-Yau type bounds of the above equation on Riemannian manifolds with Bakry-Emery type curvature bounded from below, which improves the estimates in [25] and covers the ones in [22, 18, 19, 27].

Abstract:In this paper, by employ the cutoff function and the maximum principle, some Hamilton-Souplet-Zhang type gradient estimates for porous medium type equation are deduced. As a special case, an Hamilton-Souplet-Zhang type gradient estimates of the heat equation is derived which is different from the result of Souplet-Zhang. Furthermore, our results generalize those of Zhu. As application, some Livillous theorems for ancient solution are derived.

Abstract:We consider gradient estimates to positive solutions of porous medium equations and fast diffusion equations: $$u_t=\Delta_\phi(u^p)$$ associated with the Witten Laplacian on Riemannian manifolds. Under the assumption that the $m$-dimensional Bakry-Emery Ricci curvature is bounded from below, we obtain gradient estimates which generalize the results in [20] and [13]. Moreover, inspired by X. -D. Li's work in [19] we also study the entropy formulae introduced in [20] for porous medium equations and fast diffusion equations associated with the Witten Laplacian. We prove monotonicity theorems for such entropy formulae on compact Riemannian manifolds with non-negative $m$-dimensional Bakry-Emery Ricci curvature

Abstract:In this paper, we derive local and global Li-Yau type gradient estimates for the positive solutions of the CR heat equation on complete noncompact pseudo-Hermitian manifolds. As applications of the gradient estimates, we give a Harnack inequality for the positive solutions of the CR heat equation, and then obtain an upper bound estimate for the corresponding heat kernel.

Abstract:We establish a point-wise gradient estimate for $all$ positive solutions of the conjugate heat equation. This contrasts to Perelman's point-wise gradient estimate which works mainly for the fundamental solution rather than all solutions. Like Perelman's estimate, the most general form of our gradient estimate does not require any curvature assumption. Moreover, assuming only lower bound on the Ricci curvature, we also prove a localized gradient estimate similar to the Li-Yau estimate for the linear Schrödinger heat equation. The main difference with the linear case is that no assumptions on the derivatives of the potential (scalar curvature) are needed. A generalization of Perelman's W-entropy is defined in both the Ricci flow and fixed metric case. We also find a new family of heat kernel estimates.

Li-Yau Estimates for a Nonlinear Parabolic Equation on Finsler Manifolds

Abstract:In this paper, we explore the positive solutions to the Finslerian nonlinear equation $$\frac{\partial u}{\partial t} = \Delta^{\nabla u} u + au\log u + bu,$$ which is related to Ricci solitons and serves as the Euler-Lagrange equation to the Finslerian log-energy functional. We then obtain the global gradient estimate of its positive solution on a compact Finsler metric measure space with the weighted Ricci curvature bounded below. Furthermore, using a new comparison theorem developed by the first author, we also establish a local gradient estimate on a non-compact forward complete Finsler metric measure spaces with the mixed weighted Ricci curvature bounded below, as well as finite bounds of misalignment and some non-Riemannian curvatures. Lastly, we prove the Harnack inequalities and a Liouville-type theorem of such solutions.

Abstract:In this paper we consider the gradient estimates on positive solutions to the following elliptic (Lichnerowicz) equation defined on a complete Riemannian manifold $(M,\,g)$: $$\Delta v + \mu v + a v^{p+1} +b v^{-q+1} =0,$$ where $p\geq-1$, $q\geq1$, $\mu$, $a$ and $b$ are real constants. In the case $\mu\geq0$ and $b\geq0$ or $\mu<0$ , $a>0$ and $b>0$ ($\mu$ has a lower bound), we employ the Nash-Moser iteration technique to obtain some refined gradient estimates of the solutions to the above equation, if $(M,\,g)$ satisfies $Ric \geq -(n-1)\kappa$ , where $n\geq3$ is the dimension of $M$ and $\kappa$ is a nonnegative constant, and $\mu$ , $a$ , $b$ , $p$ and $q$ satisfy some technique conditions. By the obtained gradient estimates we also derive some Liouville type theorems for the above equation under some suitable geometric and analysis conditions. As applications, we can derive some Cheng-Yau's type gradient estimates for solutions to the $n$-dimensional Einstein-scalar field Lichnerowicz equation where $n\geq3$.

Gradient estimates of the Finslerian Allen-Cahn equation

Abstract:In this manuscript, we study bounded positive solutions to the Finslerian Allen-Cahn equation. The Allen-Cahn equation is widely applied and connected to many mathematical branches. We find the Finslerian Allen-Cahn equation is also an Euler-Lagrange equation to a Liapunov entropy functional. We prove the global gradient estimates of its positive solutions on compact Finsler metric measure spaces adopting the lower bounds of the weighted Ricci curvature. Moreover, as application of a new comparison theorem developed by the author, we also get a local gradient estimates on noncompact forward complete Finsler metric measure spaces with locally finite misalignment, combining with the bounds of some non-Riemannian curvatures and the lower bound mixed weighted Ricci curvature. At last, we give a Liouville type theorem of such solutions.

Abstract:In this paper the Nash-Moser iteration method is used to study the gradient estimates of solutions to the quasilinear elliptic equation $\Delta_p u-|\nabla u|^q+b(x)|u|^{r-1}u=0$ defined on a complete Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$. When $b(x)\equiv0$, a unified Cheng-Yau type estimate of the solutions to this equation is derived. Regardless of whether this equation is defined on a manifold or a region of Euclidean space, certain technical and geometric conditions posed in \cite[Theorem E, F]{MR3261111} are weakened and hence some of the estimates due to Bidaut-Véron, Garcia-Huidobro and Véron (see \cite[Theorem E, F]{MR3261111}) are improved. In addition, we extend their results to the case $p>n=\dim(M)$. When $b(x)$ does not vanish, we can also extend some estimates for positive solutions to the above equation defined on a region of the Euclidean space due to Filippucci-Sun-Zheng \cite{filippucci2022priori} to arbitrary solutions to this equation on a complete Riemannian manifold. Even in the case of Euclidean space, the estimates for positive solutions in \cite{filippucci2022priori} and our results can not cover each other.

Abstract:In this paper, we employ the Nash-Moser iteration technique to study local and global properties of positive solutions to the equation $$\Delta_pv+bv^q+cv^r =0$$ on complete Riemannian manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded from below, where $b, c\in\mathbb R$, $p>1$, and $q\leq r$ are some real constants. Assuming certain conditions on $b,\, c,\, p,\, q$ and $r$, we derive succinct Cheng-Yau type gradient estimates for positive solutions, which is of sharp form. These gradient estimates allow us to obtain some Liouville-type theorems and Harnack inequalities. Our Liouville-type results are novel even in Euclidean spaces. Based on the local gradient estimates and a trick of Sung and Wang, we also obtain the global gradient estimates for such solutions. As applications we show the uniqueness of positive solutions to some generalized Allen-Cahn equation and Fisher-KPP equation.

Abstract:In this paper we prove some Hamilton type and Li-Yau type gradient estimates on positive solutions to generalized nonlinear parabolic equations on smooth metric measure space with compact boundary. The geometry of the space in terms of lower bounds on the weighted Bakry-Emery Ricci curvature tensor and weighted mean curvature of the boundary are key in proving generalized local and global gradient estimates. Various applications of these gradient estimates in terms of parabolic Harnack inequalities and Liouville type results are discussed. Further consequences to some specific models informed by the nature of the nonlinearities are highlighted.

Abstract:In this article we present new gradient estimates for positive solutions to a class of nonlinear elliptic equations involving the f-Laplacian on a smooth metric measure space. The gradient estimates of interest are of Souplet-Zhang and Hamilton types respectively and are established under natural lower bounds on the generalised Bakry-Émery Ricci curvature tensor. From these estimates we derive amongst other things Harnack inequalities and general global constancy and Liouville-type theorems. The results and approach undertaken here provide a unified treatment and extend and improve various existing results in the literature. Some implications and applications are presented and discussed.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the local and global properties of nonnegative solutions for semilinear heat equation $u_t-\Delta u=u^p+M|\nabla u|^q$ in $\Omega\times I\subset \R^N\times \R$, where $M>0$, and $p,q>1$. We first establish the local pointwise gradient estimates when $q$ is subcritical, critical and supercritical with respect to $p$. With these estimates, we can prove the parabolic Liouville-type theorems for time-decreasing ancient solutions. Next, we use Gidas-Spruck type integral methods to prove the Liouville-type theorem for the entire solutions when $q$ is critical. Finally, as an application of the Liouville-type theorem, we use the doubling lemma to derive universal priori estimates for local solutions of parabolic equations with general nonlinearities. Our approach relies on a parabolic differential inequality containing a suitable auxiliary function rather than Keller-Osserman type inequality, which allows us to generalize and extend the partial results of the elliptic equation (Bidaut-Véron, Garcia-Huidobro and Véron (2020) \cite{veron-sum}) to the parabolic case.
