Abstract:Translating poetry is a very complex process. The paradoxical nature of untranslatability and translatability of poetry has been noticed by Hai An (The translation of poetry by the translator-cum-poet. Chinese Translator Journals 2005; 6:27-30), citing two famous scholars who are holding totally different opinions toward poetry translation. Robert Frost purports that 'poetry is what gets lost in translation', and Susan Bassnet advocates 'poetry is what we gain in translation'. However, the common ground between these two drastic opinions is that poetry translation is no more a repetition of the original works than a reproduction. There are both similarities and discrepancies between the translated works and the original pieces, or in another word: 'harmony in diversity'. This study aims to testify the above-mentioned proposal in a clear and objective manner, by comparing the original poetry texts (twenty randomly selected poems from Shakespearean sonnets) with their translated versions (the corresponding Chinese-translated versions by four different translators) from the perspective of vocabulary, word frequency distribution and part-of-speech (POS) frequency distribution. The results have corroborated the previous proposal: first, there is no significant difference in terms of vocabulary size and the text management styles between the translated poems and the original ones. Second, there is a significant difference in the word frequency distribution and POS frequency distribution between translated poems and the original ones. Third, there are also differences in the POS frequency distribution in poems translated by different authors. Furthermore, the translation style could distinguish professional translators from professional poets.

Abstract:With the increasing of globe economy, advertisement translation becomes more and more essential to China.In recent years, the scholars around the world have been making a great number of studies on the advertisement translation. However, most of the researches are undertaken with the focus on micro-level,such as language features, rhetorical devices and culture. Due to such special texts as advertisements, it should analyze all elements involved in the advertisement translation at a higher level from macro-point of view. the theory of eco-translatology proposed by Hu Gengshen, a professor from Tsinghua University believes that translating is a process in which a translator makes his adaptation and selection with regarding of eco-environment. Eco-translatology deals with translation from macrolevel with great emphasizing on the translator's role.

Abstract:A successful advertisement translation requires the translator to deal with what the advertisements focus on and try to reduce the cultural discrepancy. Moreover, the translators are demanded that they not only focus on the original text, but also pay attention to the cultural significance of the original content and the connotative meaning of the advertisement, which enables readers to accept it easier and more importantly achieves the purpose of promotion. Abstract:With the development of market economy and globalization, advertisement has become more and more important, and meanwhile, it is an indispensable part in people’s daily life. Therefore, the translation of advertisement has attracted a lot of attention of domestic and foreign experts and scholars. A variety of research has been done on it. However, there still exist many problems in the advertisement translation. This paper tries to use the theory of eco-translatology proposed by Professor Hu Gengshen to study the translation of advertisement. Combined with actual cases analysis, the study is proceeded from several dimensions, such as language, culture, communication and so on. It is greatly hoped that this study can offer some help and reference for other translation activities.

Abstract:Whereas translation scholars have succeeded in reaching agreements on many fundamental issues in their field,whether these consensuses are all relevant to and applicable in real-life situations of translation practices deserves a careful examination.A reality check reveals that many of the seemingly-solved problems or the seemingly-unified thoughts have not been generally recognized or implemented in the actual practices of translating.A case in point is the discrepancy between theorists' shared understanding of the tripartite criterion of" faithfulness,"" expressiveness" and" elegance" and its popular application in the assessment of translation in many practical fields.Taking notice of the gap,this paper seeks to rethink the criterion in question from a perspective that combines theoretical insights and practical imperatives and is sufficiently informed with the tension between the two.

The study emphasizes the necessity of employing cognitive poetics as a guiding perspective for translators, enabling them to navigate the intricacies of Tang poetry's imagery, rhyme, and rhythm, and suggests to utilize modern translation tools to better convey the emotional depth of the original works, while also providing cultural context to enhance readers' understanding. The cross-cultural communication aspect of Tang poetry translation is explored, as it transcends linguistic boundaries to become a channel for cultural exchange. Translators are challenged to strike a balance between faithfulness to the original poem and adaptability to the target culture's sensibilities. This balance is crucial in preserving the cognitive elements of the original work. To ensure the effective cross-cultural communication of Tang poetry, it is essential to retain the unique imagery that carries profound cultural connotations. The study culminates in offering a set of strategies and suggestions for optimizing Tang poetry translation, including maintaining cultural background, preserving rhyme and rhythm, adding explanatory elements, respecting the poet's style, and ensuring proper literariness in the translation.

Abstract:The article describes the peculiarities of translating advertisements. Advertisements perform a very important function in the society – they distribute information about the product. Foreign goods make up a significant share of the Russian market today. This fact makes research in the field of translating advertisements popular and relevant. Creating texts of advertisements requires some background knowledge in different fields – in science, history, music, and painting. This knowledge helps to make bright, memorable images; transmits information about the advertised product. Language game is typical for advertising slogans. It adds expressiveness to the text. Language game is very effective. It performs different functions: esthetic, gnostic, emphatic, visual and concealing function that raise the interest to the advertised product. Language game improves the text, makes it easy to understand and memorable. The analysis of advertisements and their translations highlights their semantic, structural and stylistic peculiarities. Translation of advertisements applies communicative approach. To translate texts of this type it is necessary to take into account some presuppositions: national psychology, historical traditions, and cultural background. Extralinguistic component of an advertisement needs use of translation techniques.

Abstract:Classical Chinese poetry can be said to be a bright treasure of Chinese culture, showing the beauty of Chinese culture. It is known for the artistic conception, vivid image and concise language. In order to promote Chinese culture, we should tell Chinese stories to the world. From the perspective of two principles of the translation aesthetics, applying literature review, the thesis interprets the classic cases of the poem translation in the famous translation of 300 Tang Poems translated by Xu Yuanchong and analyses the translation strategies.

Abstract:In translating advertisements, there are things to keep in mind. First, ad text has a different type of character from other text, secondly, there are limitations in the ad itself. An advertisement is limited to customs and habits, religion and beliefs, norms and ethics as well as the use of language and language style. This implies that an advertisement cannot freely express the ideas or ideas of producers to potential consumers, especially if the advertisement is aimed at consumers who have different languages and of course different cultures. A picture or sentence that can be considered neutral in one area but has a different interpretation in another. For example: in a print media commercial advertisement issued by the local government, one type of regional superior product is written which is called 'sarong goyor'. If this advertisement is given to an audience outside the area where the source text originates, then the word sarong goyor may become lepas in its meaning. For this reason, in translating a text, the translator needs to understand the approach, strategy and ideology used by the translator.

Abstract:The poetry of Tang is a kind of classic literature of China and famous historical heritage. Taking the "Harmony-guided Three-Level poetry translation criteria" as the theoretical basis, this paper compares the translations of two translators of different styles in different periods of Li Bai's " Looking at the Mount Sky Gate" from the macro, middle and micro levels. As for the Chinese translator Xu Yuanchong, his version has high formal beauty and musical beauty. Besides the expression of a few images, he also gave a good consideration to "the beauty of numbers". Rewi Alley's translation is a free verse, but he tries to approach the original poem in terms of meaning. By the analysis of the above two versions, the authors endeavor to give their own version according to the "Harmony-guided Three-Level poetry translation criteria". The translation study of " Looking at the Mount Sky Gate " can enrich the theory of "Harmony-guided Three-Level poetry translation criteria" and promote the spread of Chinese literature and culture. Abstract:With the study of Skopos theory, the paper searches for the translation strategies of sports advertisements. Based on the study of language characteristics of sports advertisements, the paper compares the linguistic differences between Chinese and English sports advertisements. This paper briefly discusses some problems of sports advertisement translation. By analyzing the translation strategies adopted by different translators, the paper attempts to find appropriate solutions to problems of translating. These solutions touch on four aspects, including adherence to Skopos theory, respecting foreign cultures, mastering the linguistic features of sports advertisements in English and Chinese, and achieving the function of communication. The paper draws the following conclusions: there are differences and similarities between Chinese and English sports advertisements. Translators can choose different methods to overcome cultural and linguistic barriers with the guidance of Skopos theory. Moreover, the Skopos theory is the best way to assess the quality of translation.

Abstract:This paper aims at exploring the possibility of how to create poetry of life by advertisements through analysis of some Chinese advertisement cases in 2006.The author’s basic points of view are as following: the basic function of common advertisements is to shape patterned fashion of life intentionally, whereas the superior-quality advertisements may became the carrier of art to create the poetry of life, which conduct“ condensation” and “expansion” of life among multi-links ,such as individual and group, human beings and nature, present and past. Mcluhan thinks that advertisement is just to condense a spacious area(group) into a narrowed space(individual) and I think advertisement is also can expand narrowed space into a spacious area. The author points out that whether the bidirectional movements can be achieved, that is to say, to create poetry of life ,relies on the whether the advertisement-makers cherish historic felling and the heart to treasure everything of the world.
