Abstract:A Smarandache multi-space is a union of $n$ spaces $A_1,A_2,..., A_n$ with some additional conditions holding. Combining Smarandache multi-spaces with linear vector spaces in classical linear algebra, the conception of multi-vector spaces is introduced. Some characteristics of a multi-vector space are obtained in this paper.

Abstract:A Smarandache multi-space is a union of $n$ different spaces equipped with some different structures for an integer $n\geq 2$, which can be both used for discrete or connected spaces, particularly for geometries and spacetimes in theoretical physics. This paper is the first part on characterizing multi-spaces. Various algebraic multi-spaces with structures such as those of multi-groups, multi-rings, multi-vector spaces, multi-metric spaces, multi-operation systems are discussed and new results are obtained.

Abstract:Basic algebraic and combinatorial properties of finite vector spaces in which individual vectors are allowed to have multiplicities larger than $ 1 $ are derived. An application in coding theory is illustrated by showing that multispace codes that are introduced here may be used in random linear network coding scenarios, and that they generalize standard subspace codes (defined in the set of all subspaces of $ \mathbb{F}_q^n $) and extend them to an infinitely larger set of parameters. In particular, in contrast to subspace codes, multispace codes of arbitrarily large cardinality and minimum distance exist for any fixed $ n $ and $ q $.

Abstract:Multi-task learning (MTL) aims to improve generalization performance by learning multiple related tasks simultaneously and identifying the shared information among tasks. Most of existing MTL methods focus on learning linear models under the supervised setting. We propose a novel semi-supervised and nonlinear approach for MTL using vector fields. A vector field is a smooth mapping from the manifold to the tangent spaces which can be viewed as a directional derivative of functions on the manifold. We argue that vector fields provide a natural way to exploit the geometric structure of data as well as the shared differential structure of tasks, both of which are crucial for semi-supervised multi-task learning. In this paper, we develop multi-task vector field learning (MTVFL) which learns the predictor functions and the vector fields simultaneously. MTVFL has the following key properties. (1) The vector fields MTVFL learns are close to the gradient fields of the predictor functions. (2) Within each task, the vector field is required to be as parallel as possible which is expected to span a low dimensional subspace. (3) The vector fields from all tasks share a low dimensional subspace. We formalize our idea in a regularization framework and also provide a convex relaxation method to solve the original non-convex problem. The experimental results on synthetic and real data demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed approach.

Abstract:We study the theory of K -vector spaces with a predicate for the union X of an infinite family of independent subspaces. We show that if K is infinite then the theory is complete and admits quantifier elimination in the language of K -vector spaces with predicates for the n -fold sums of X with itself. If K is finite this is no longer true, but we still have that a natural completion is near-model-complete.

de Branges matrices and associated de Branges spaces of vector valued entire functions

Abstract:This paper extends the concept of de Branges matrices to any finite $m\times m$ order where $m=2n$. We shall discuss these matrices along with the theory of de Branges spaces of $\mathbb{C}^n$-valued entire functions and their associated functions. A parametrization of these matrices is obtained using the Smirnov maximum principle for matrix valued functions. Additionally, a factorization of matrix valued meromorphic functions is discussed.

Abstract:Consider a multivariable state space system and associated transfer function G({\lambda}). The aim of this paper is to define and analyze two vector spaces of matrix pencils associated with the matrix G({\lambda}) and show that almost all of these pencils are linearizations of G({\lambda}). We also construct symmetric/Hermitian linearizations of G({\lambda}) when G({\lambda}) is regular and symmetric/Hermitian.

History and Overview

Abstract:An introductory overview of vector spaces, algebras, and linear geometries over an arbitrary commutative field is given. Quotient spaces are emphasized and used in constructing the exterior and the symmetric algebras of a vector space. Affine geometries are introduced and generalized by projective completion. General projective geometries are briefly introduced. Tensor products and multilinear functions are treated. The exterior algebra of a vector space and that of its dual are used in treating linear geometry and Grassmann's regressive product is treated. Scalar product spaces, orthogonality, and the Hodge star based on a general basis are covered.

Abstract:Vector spaces over finite fields and Anzahl formulas of subspaces were studied by Wan (Geometry of Classical Groups over Finite Fields, Science Press, 2002). As a generalization, we study vector spaces and singular linear spaces over commutative rings and obtain some Anzahl formulas of subspaces. Moreover, we discuss arcs and caps by using these formulas.

Abstract:Let $V$ be an $n$-dimensional vector space over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_{q}$, and let $\mathcal{L}(V)=\bigcup_{0\leq k\leq n}\left[V\atop k\right]$ be the set of all subspaces of $V$. A family of subspaces $\mathcal{F}\subseteq \mathcal{L}(V)$ is $s$-union if dim$(F+F')\leq s$ holds for all $F$, $F'\in\mathcal{F}$. A family $\mathcal{F}\subseteq \mathcal{L}(V)$ is an antichain if $F\nleq F'$ holds for any two distinct $F, F'\in \mathcal{F}$. The optimal $s$-union families in $\mathcal{L}(V)$ have been determined by Frankl and Tokushige in $2013$. The upper bound of cardinalities of $s$-union $(s<n)$ antichains in $\mathcal{L}(V)$ has been established by Frankl recently, while the structures of optimal ones have not been displayed. The present paper determines all suboptimal $s$-union families for vector spaces and then investigates $s$-union antichains. For $s=n$ or $s=2d<n$, we determine all optimal and suboptimal $s$-union antichains completely. For $s=2d+1<n$, we prove that an optimal antichain is either $\left[V\atop d\right]$ or contained in $\left[V\atop d\right]\bigcup \left[V\atop d+1\right]$ which satisfies an equality related with shadows.

Abstract:Vector spaces contain a number of general structures that invite analysis in modal languages. The resulting logical systems provide an interesting counterpart to the much better-studied modal logics of topological spaces. In this programmatic paper, we investigate issues of definability and axiomatization using standard techniques for modal and hybrid languages. The analysis proceeds in stages. We first present a modal analysis of commutative groups that establishes our main techniques, next we introduce a new modal logic of linear dependence and independence in vector spaces and, finally, we study a modal logic for describing full-fledged vector spaces. While still far from covering every basic aspect of linear algebra, our discussion identifies several leads for more systematic research.

A family is called intersecting if for all F , we have A family is called almost intersecting if for every there is at most one element satisfying In this paper we investigate almost intersecting families in the vector space V . Firstly, for large n , we determine the maximum size of an almost intersecting family in which is the same as that of an intersecting family. Secondly, we characterize the structures of all maximum almost intersecting families under the condition that they are not intersecting.

Abstract:Abstract.The aim of this paper is to present and compare some approaches for obtaining multivariate interpolation spaces. The comparison is made using a set of conditions of Hermite–Birkhoff type. Algorithms for these approaches are also presented. We prove that the interpolation space for these conditions is the set of polynomials of degree n in 2 variables.

Abstract:A criteria on the vector-valued Banach function spaces X (B) is obtained so that whenever a vector-valued singular integral operator is bounded on X (B), it can be extended to be a bounded linear operator on the corresponding Morrey type spaces. Using this result, we define the generalized Triebel–Lizorkin–Morrey spaces and obtain the atomic and molecular decompositions. As a particular example of the generalized Triebel–Lizorkin–Morrey spaces, we introduce and study the variable Triebel–Lizorkin–Morrey spaces.

Abstract:In this work we are interested in proving a general common fixed point theorem for a pair of multi-valued mappings satisfying a new type of implicit relation in complex-valued b -metric spaces. The results in this paper generalize the results obtained in Ahmad et al. (in: and Applied Analysis, vol 2013, p 12, 2013; J Linear Topol Algebra 9(1):75–94, 2020). An example and an application to a complex linear system are given to support our results.

Abstract:In this book, we introduce the notion of Smarandache special definite algebraic structures. We can also call them equivalently as Smarandache definite special algebraic structures. These new structures are defined as those strong algebraic structures which have in them a proper subset which is a weak algebraic structure. For instance, the existence of a semigroup in a group or a semifield in a field or a semiring in a ring. It is interesting to note that these concepts cannot be defined when the algebraic structure has finite cardinality i.e., when the algebraic structure has finite number of elements in it. This book has four chapters. Chapter one is introductory in nature. In chapter two, the notion of Smarandache special definite groups and Smarandache special definite fields are introduced and several interesting properties are derived. The notion of Smarandache definite special rings, vector spaces and linear algebras are introduced and analyzed in chapter three. The final chapter suggests over 200 problems.

Vector Bundle construction via Monads on multiprojective Spaces

Abstract:In this paper we establish the existence of monads on multiprojective spaces $X=\mathbb{P}^{2n+1}\times\mathbb{P}^{2n+1}\times\cdots\times\mathbb{P}^{2n+1}$. We prove stability of the kernel bundle which is a dual of a generalized Schwarzenberger bundle associated to the monads and prove that the cohomology vector bundle is simple, a generalization of instanton bundles. Next we construct monads on $\mathbb{P}^{a_1}\times\cdots\times\mathbb{P}^{a_n}$ and prove stability of the kernel bundle and that the cohomology vector bundle is simple. Lastly, we construct the morphisms that establish the existence of monads on $\mathbb{P}^1\times\cdots\times\mathbb{P}^1$.

On generalized metrics of Vandermonde type

Abstract:In a series of papers in the 1960's, S. Gähler defined and investigated so-called m-metric spaces and their topological properties. An m-metric assigns to any tuple of m+1 elements a real value (more generally an element in a partially odered set) which satisfies the generalized metric axioms of semidefiniteness, symmetry, and simplex inequality. In this contribution we consider a new type of generalized metric which is based on the Vandermonde determinant. We present some remarkable geometric consequences of the corresponding simplex inequality in the complex plane. Then we show that the Vandermonde principle of construction extends to linear spaces of arbitrary dimension by using symmetric multilinear maps of degree m(m + 1)/2. In particular, we analyze when this generalized metrics has the stronger property of definiteness. Finally, an application is provided to the m-metric of point sets when driven by the same linear ordinary differential equation.

Abstract:We study expansions of a vector space V over a field F , possibly with extra structure, with a generic submodule over a subring of F . We construct a natural expansion by existentially defined functions so that the expansion in the extended language satisfies quantifier elimination. We show that this expansion preserves tame model theoretic properties such as stability, NIP, NTP 1 , NTP 2 and NSOP 1 . We also study induced independence relations in the expansion.
