Abstract:Herein, we report the cost-effective synthesis of micro flower-like CeO2/ZnO (CZO) as a highly efficient electrocatalyst for the antibacterial drug piroxicam (PXM) sensor. The physicochemical properties of CZO were probed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The particle size of the CZO was found to be 0.2 µm. Quantitative measurement of PXM detection was monitored by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) technique. The CZO/GCE has only required a lower oxidation potential at 0.6 V for PXM detection with a good current response. Under the experimental conditions, the wide sensing range for PXM with a low concentration of 0.1–77.1 µM and the low detection limit is determined to be 0.03 µM. Furthermore, the CZO modified sensor explained the structural advantages like simple design, low cost, good selectivity, reusability, and stability. The fabricated electrode was successfully used for the determination of PXM in urine samples with satisfactory recovery. Our report undoubtedly designates the proposed material as could efficient electrocatalyst for PXM sensing applications.
