Abstract:Teachers play an important role in society, whose career is considered to be the most glorious one under the sun. They have deep and lifelong influence on students and the prosperity of a country and even the bright future of the whole world.Teacher should be a person with great virtue that sets good examples for the students. However, nowadays, there exist various problems about teacher’s ethics due to complex social, economical, cultural or personal issues. It’s urgent and imperative for teachers to learn and improve professional ethics to be a better mentor. This paper begins with the definition of ethics, emphasizes the importance of teachers’ professional ethics, talks about current situation in this area, analyzes the reasons why there are immoral problems about teachers and suggests some practical strategies on how to improve it.

Abstract:Teaching is one basic work of university faculty.It is necessary to emphasize the teaching ethics as it is an important guarantee for faculty to carry out their mission practically and effectively. Different to the compulsory disciplines of teaching and the professional ethic requirements of education, teaching ethics does not simply provide specific norms to monitor,regulate and guide individual faculty’ s teaching behavior,but reminds and promotes the faculty to think about the following questions:"what position they are in and what they should do in the teaching interaction","what is the appropri-ate teaching method","how to choose teaching methods",and "what is the effect of teaching in talent cultivation".At the meanwhile,reflections and discussions on teaching ethics will also provide self-e-valuation and third-party evaluation criteria in response to questions such as "what constitutes a respon-sible college classroom education".

Abstract:Currently, the discussion of public or private ethics, high or low standards, self-discipline or self-discipline, etc., has emerged in Chinese university teacher ethics, which marks a profound change in the connotation of teacher ethics in Chinese universities in the new era, with new features. Based on the vision of international teacher ethics, learning and understanding General Secretary Xi’s important discussions on teacher ethics, and sorting out China’s policies and systems for teacher ethics construction, this study argues that teacher ethics in Higher educational institutions is a combination of the “first-level index” of ethics, and three “second-level indexes” of “occupational ethics, personal ethics, and social ethics”, and it is a unity of ethical concepts and ethical behaviors. It is not a specific quality or ability, but an important guideline for regulating the mutual relations between teachers and other communities of interest, and is the ethical foundation of teachers’ quality.

Abstract:In the higher education settings, the following questions are discussed and debated in modern times. Is ‘teaching’ a profession? Are university faculty members professionals? The paper attempts to answer these questions by adopting qualitative methodology that subsumes descriptive, evaluative, and interpretative approaches. While answering these questions, it discusses significance and usefulness of academic ethics in the university set up. It examines role of academic ethics to offer quality education to students. Further, it highlights university faculty members’ roles and responsibilities toward students, colleagues, institution authorities, research works, and society at large. The paper submits that teaching in university settings is regarded as a profession, and university faculty members are regarded as professionals provided they perform their duties conforming to the teacher’s code of ethics.

Abstract:This article provides a narrative review of the scholarly writings on professional ethics education for future teachers. Against the background of a widespread belief among scholars working in this area that longstanding and sustained research and reflection on the ethics of teaching have had little impact on the teacher education curriculum, the article takes stock of the field by synthesizing viewpoints on key aspects of teaching ethics to teacher candidates—the role ethics plays in teacher education, the primary objectives of ethics education for teachers, recommended teaching and learning strategies, and challenges to introducing ethics curriculum—and maps out how opinions on these matters have evolved over the three decades since the initial publication of Strike and Soltis’ seminal book, The Ethics of Teaching. In light of the review’s results, the article identifies critical deficits in this literature and proposes a set of recommendations for future inquiry.

Abstract:Research on teacher ethics and the moral dimensions of teaching has contributed to extensive and valuable knowledge, which has sometimes led to constructive syntheses of positions. Four research problems which have been elucidated are discussed in this article: the relationship between care and justice, the conflict between the ethics of virtue and the ethics of rules, the relationship between moral education and professional ethics and what is morally significant in the teaching profession. Furthermore, an invitation to renew the discussion and formulate the next generation of research problems is made. Two issues are proposed. First, to answer the question why is it so difficult to be a morally good teacher and, second, teachers’ moral responsibility for the content taught.

Abstract:The article reveals the regulatory framework of the professional ethics of teachers in China in the new era. The authors examine thoroughly the vision, the models and the concepts that form the basis of the Teachers’ code of professional ethics in China and mark its characteristics and specifics. A comparative approach is used in representing the common features and the specifics of law regulations related to the attitude of society towards teachers and their professional ethics in Bulgaria and in China. Abstract:Previous research concerning teacher practical knowledge has revealed its epistemological foundations, content structure and research methodology, but little research examines its ethical dimension. Based on a four-year project in China, this study probes the ethical dimension of an experienced teacher's practical knowledge, explicated in a dilemmatic but teachable moment. Narrative inquiry is used as both a research method and a representational form to reveal the teacher's ethical decisions and actions in the nested macro-meso-micro dilemmatic spaces. It is found that the teacher's practical knowledge is embedded in a complicated web of meanings, and tapestried by her compromise to the national policies, her negotiation with the school governance and her caring for her students with diverse backgrounds. The ethical dimension of her practical knowledge provides her a vital power to carry out her educational practice. It is advocated that an ethical turn' for research and practice in teacher professional development is needed, so as to authorize teachers' professionality reflected in their roles as humanity cultivators and transformative intellectuals. Moreover, under the global educational reform context since late 1990s, this article can be seen not only as a case from China, but also has implications for other countries in the world.

Abstract:In order to promote teacher professional development and improve the quality of education and teaching,various countries developed and revised teacher professional standards.These documents clarified the core elements of teacher professional and provided valuable information for understanding teacher professional development and its category.This study finds that all kinds of teacher professional standards have reached a highly consensus on the following aspects.First,teacher professional standard category is divided into professional knowledge("should know"),professional skills/practice("can do") and professional quality("may hold").Second,standards for teachers in each level are consistent with the characteristics of teacher professional development of each stage.Third,the core areas of teacher professional development consist of the commitment of promoting every student's learning and development with the understanding and respect of students,teaching skills of promoting students'effective learning,capability of professional reflection and life-long learningand the quality of professional cooperation.
