Abstract:Intubation is a commonly performed procedure in critically ill patients ( 1 ). Failed intubations and other serious peri-intubation adverse events are rare but may have catastrophic consequences ( 2–4 ). Since the emergence of video laryngoscopy (VL), clinicians have debated its potential benefits over direct laryngoscopy (DL), particularly in critically ill patients ( 3 ).
