Abstract:The Hodge theory of complex algebraic varieties is at heart a transcendental comparison of two algebraic structures. We survey the recent advances bounding this transcendence, mainly due to the introduction of o- minimal geometry as a natural framework for Hodge theory.

Abstract:We treat two quite different problems related to changes of complex structures on Kähler manifolds by using global geometric method. First, by using operators from Hodge theory on compact Kähler manifold, we present a closed explicit extension formula for holomorphic canonical forms in different complex structures. As applications, we give a closed explicit formula for certain canonical sections of Hodge bundles on marked and polarized moduli spaces of projective manifolds, and provide a closed explicit extension formula for holomorphic pluricanonical forms under certain natural conditions. Second, by using the operators in L^2-Hodge theory on Poincaré disk, we present a simple and unified method to solve the Beltrami equations with measurable coefficients for quasi-conformal maps.

Abstract:We introduce in this paper the notion of Hodge similarities of transcendental lattices of hyperkähler manifolds and investigate the Hodge conjecture for these Hodge morphisms. Studying K3 surfaces with a symplectic automorphism, we prove the Hodge conjecture for the square of the general member of the first four-dimensional families of K3 surfaces with totally real multiplication of degree two. We then show the functoriality of the Kuga--Satake construction with respect to Hodge similarities. This implies that, if the Kuga--Satake Hodge conjecture holds for two hyperkähler manifolds, then every Hodge similarity between their transcendental lattices is algebraic after composing it with the Lefschetz isomorphism. In particular, we deduce that Hodge similarities of transcendental lattices of hyperkähler manifolds of generalized Kummer deformation type are algebraic.

Abstract:In this paper, we study Frobenius structures in higher dimensional $p$-adic analytic geometry and the corresponding $p$-adic functional analysis. This will build up foundations for further study on some generalized cohomology of Frobenius modules and the corresponding generalized Iwasawa theory and generalized noncommutative Tamagawa number conjectures in the spirit of Burns-Flach-Fukaya-Kato and Nakamura (as well as certainly the original noncommutative Tamagawa number conjectures as observed by Pal-Zábrádi). We will work in the program proposed by Carter-Kedlaya-Zábrádi and after Pal-Zábrádi, and we will follow closely the approach from Kedlaya-Pottharst-Xiao to investigate the corresponding deformation of the generalized $p$-adic Hodge structures.

We give a survey of joint work with Ben Elias which uncovers Hodge theoretic structure in the Hecke category ("Soergel bimodules"). We also outline similarities and differences to other combinatorial Hodge theories.

Abstract:Motivated by classical Alexander invariants of affine hypersurface complements, we endow certain finite dimensional quotients of the homology of abelian covers of complex algebraic varieties with a canonical and functorial mixed Hodge structure (MHS). More precisely, we focus on covers which arise algebraically in the following way: if $U$ is a smooth connected complex algebraic variety and $G$ is a complex semiabelian variety, the pullback of the exponential map by an algebraic morphism $f:U\to G$ yields a covering space $\pi:U^f\to U$ whose group of deck transformations is $\pi_1(G)$. The new MHSs are compatible with Deligne's MHS on the homology of $U$ through the covering map $\pi$ and satisfy a direct sum decomposition as MHSs into generalized eigenspaces by the action of deck transformations. This provides a vast generalization of the previous results regarding univariable Alexander modules by Geske, Maxim, Wang and the authors. Lastly, we reduce the problem of whether the first Betti number of the Milnor fiber of a central hyperplane arrangement complement is combinatorial to a question about the Hodge filtration of certain MHSs defined in this paper, providing evidence that the new structures contain interesting information.

Compatibility of Hodge Theory on Alexander Modules

Abstract:Let $U$ be a smooth connected complex algebraic variety, and let $f\colon U\to \mathbb C^*$ be an algebraic map. To the pair $(U,f)$ one can associate an infinite cyclic cover $U^f$, and (homology) Alexander modules are defined as the homology groups of this cover. In two recent works, the first of which is joint with Geske, Maxim and Wang, we developed two different ways to put a mixed Hodge structure on Alexander modules. Since they are not finite dimensional in general, each approach replaces the Alexander module by a different finite dimensional module: one of them takes the torsion submodule, the other takes finite dimensional quotients, and the constructions are not directly comparable. In this note, we show that both constructions are compatible, in the sense that the map from the torsion to the quotients is a mixed Hodge structure morphism.

Abstract:We study the weighted spectrum and vanishing cohomology for several classes of isolated hypersurface singularities, and how they contribute to the limiting mixed Hodge structure of a smoothing. Applications are given to several types of singularities arising in KSBA and GIT compactifications and mirror symmetry, including nodes on odd-dimensional hypersurfaces, $k$-log-canonical and $k$-rational singularities, and singularities with Calabi-Yau tail.

Abstract:We introduce a Hopf algebroid associated to a proper Lie group action on a smooth manifold. We prove that the cyclic cohomology of this Hopf algebroid is equal to the de Rham cohomology of invariant differential forms. When the action is cocompact, we develop a generalized Hodge theory for the de Rham cohomology of invariant differential forms. We prove that every cyclic cohomology class of the Hopf algebroid is represented by a generalized harmonic form. This implies that the space of cyclic cohomology of the Hopf algebroid is finite dimensional. As an application of the techniques developed in this paper, we discuss properties of the Euler characteristic for a proper cocompact action.

In particular, we introduce some de Rham complex of square integrable forms and we describe its homology and the spectral properties of the associated Hodge Laplace operator. Abstract:We explore and extend the application of homological algebra to describe quantum entanglement, initiated in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1901.02011" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1901.02011">arXiv:1901.02011</a>, focusing on the Hodge-theoretic structure of entanglement cohomology in finite-dimensional quantum systems. We construct analogues of the Hodge star operator, inner product, codifferential, and Laplacian for entanglement $k$-forms. We also prove that such $k$-forms obey versions of the Hodge isomorphism theorem and Hodge decomposition, and that they exhibit Hodge duality. As a corollary, we conclude that the dimensions of the $k$-th and $(n-k)$-th cohomologies coincide for entanglement in $n$-partite pure states, which explains a symmetry property ("Poincare duality") of the associated Poincare polynomials.

Abstract:T. Mochizuki constructs a theory of variations of wild Hodge structure for which the underlying flat connection can have irregular singularities at infinity. He extends in this way the correspondence of Corlette and Simpson between irreducible flat bundles and stables Higgs bundles, taking into account objects with irregular singularities. As an application, he proves a conjecture of Kashiwara concerning a generalization of the Hard Lefschetz theorem when the coefficients are the de Rham complex of a simple holonomic D-module on smooth complex projective variety.

Abstract:We prove asymptotic estimates for the growth in the degree of the Hodge locus in terms of arithmetic properties of the integral vectors that define it. Our methods are general and apply to most variations of Hodge structures for which the Hodge locus is dense. As applications we give asymptotic formulas controlling the degrees of Noether-Lefschetz loci associated to smooth projective hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{P}^3$, and the degrees of subvarieties of the Torelli locus parameterizing Jacobians split up to isogeny.

Abstract:The Dirac-Dolbeault operator for a compact Kähler manifold is a special case of Dirac operator. The Green function for the Dirac Laplacian over a Riemannian manifold with boundary allows the expression of the values of the sections of the Dirac bundle in terms of the values on the boundary, extending the mean value theorem of harmonic analysis. Utilizing this representation and the Nash–Moser generalized inverse function theorem, we prove the existence of complex submanifolds of a complex projective manifold satisfying globally a certain partial differential equation under a certain injectivity assumption. Thereby, internal symmetries of Dolbeault and rational Hodge cohomologies play a crucial role. Next, we show the existence of complex submanifolds whose fundamental classes span the rational Hodge classes, proving the Hodge conjecture for complex projective manifolds.
