Abstract:Machado-Joseph disease (MJD), also known as spinocerebellar ataxia 3 (SCA3), belongs to the polyglutamine group (PolyQ) of genetic disorders. This condition typically manifests later in life, with clinical symptoms appearing between the ages of 35 and 40. MJD is characterized by the progressive loss of motor functions, often leading to the early death of affected individuals. In a specific case, a 40-year-old male patient had a prior diagnosis of Machado-Joseph disease. During a clinical examination, a periapical lesion was identified in the right central incisor, along with caries affecting teeth 12, 15, 24, 34, 35, 44, 45, and 46.
