Abstract:Visual neurons can perceive external illumination, and some electric pulses are triggered to wake up visuals nervous system. Doping and coating of light-sensitive media in electric components can fabricate light-dependent resistors or other optoelectronic converter components, which can change the energy values in the capacitive and inductive components in the nonlinear circuits. Two sides of the cell membranes in biological neurons have distinct energy diversity because of gradient distribution of intracellular and intracellular ions. Therefore, two capacitive variables are better to describe the characteristic of electric activities in presence of time-varying electric stimuli, which inject energy to change the firing mode of neural activities. Indeed, the effect of light sensitivity on electrical activities in two sides of the cell membrane can be approached by using two coupled linear circuits composed of photocells. The physical energy for the equivalent neural circuit and its Hamilton energy are defined and verified in theoretical way. The ratio for two capacitive parameters is adjusted under an adaptive growth law when the intrinsic energy is beyond a threshold, so that the cell membrane can select suitable firing patterns. Similar coherence resonance is induced under noisy disturbance, and the occurrence can also be predicted when the average energy function obtains a highest value by changing the noise intensity carefully. The results provide clues to design light-sensitive components and artificial membrane.
