Abstract:In this paper, we generalize the well-known hyperbolic numbers to certain numeric structures scaled by the real numbers. Under our scaling of $\mathbb{R}$, the usual hyperbolic numbers are understood to be our 1-scaled hyperbolic numbers. If a scale $t$ is not positive in $\mathbb{R}$, then our $t$-scaled hyperbolic numbers have similar numerical structures with those of the complex numbers, however, if a scale is positive in $\mathbb{R}$, then their numerical properties are similar to those of the classical hyperbolic numbers. We here understand scaled-hyperbolic numbers as elements of the scaled-hypercomplex rings $\{\mathbb{H}_t\}_{t\in \mathbb{R}}$, introduced in [1]. This scaled-hyperbolic analysis is done by algebra, analysis, operator theory, operator-algebra theory and free probability on scaled-hypercomplex numbers

Abstract:In this paper we describe the rise of global operators in the scaled quaternionic case, an important extension from the quaternionic case to the family of scaled hypercomplex numbers $\mathbb{H}_t,\, t\in\mathbb{R}^*$, of which the $\mathbb{H}_{-1}=\mathbb{H}$ is the space of quaternions and $\mathbb{H}_{1}$ is the space of split quaternions. We also describe the scaled Fueter-type variables associated to these operators, developing a coherent theory in this field. We use these types of variables to build different types of function spaces on $\mathbb{H}_t$. Counterparts of the Hardy space and of the Arveson space are also introduced and studied in the present setting. The two different adjoints in the scaled hypercomplex numbers lead to two parallel cases in each instance. Finally we introduce and study the notion of rational function.

Abstract:In the literature on slice analysis in the hypercomplex setting, there are two main approaches to define slice regular functions in one variable: one consists in requiring that the restriction to any complex plane is holomorphic (with the same complex structure of the complex plane), the second one makes use of stem and slice functions. So far, in the setting of several hypercomplex variables, only the second approach has been considered, i.e. the one based on stem functions. In this paper, we use instead the first definition on the so-called $n$-dimensional quadratic cone of octonions. These two approaches yield the same class of slice regular functions on axially symmetric slice-domains, however, they are different on other types of domains. We call this new class of functions weak slice regular. We show that there exist weak slice regular functions which are not slice regular in the second approach. Moreover, we study various properties of these functions, including a Taylor expansion.

Abstract:We prove that the regularity of the extremal function of a compact subset of a compact Kähler manifold is a local property, and that the continuity and Hölder continuity are equivalent to classical notions of the local $L$-regularity and the locally Hölder continuous property in pluripolential theory. As a consequence we give an effective characterization of the $(\Cc^\al, \Cc^{\al'})$-regularity of compact sets, the notion introduced by Dinh, Ma and Nguyen. Using this criterion all compact fat subanalytic subsets in $\bR^n$ are shown to be regular in this sense.

Abstract:We define a very general notion of regularity for functions taking values in an alternative real $*$-algebra. Over Clifford numbers, this notion subsumes the well-established notions of monogenic function and slice-monogenic function. Over quaternions, in addition to subsuming the notions of Fueter-regular function and of slice-regular function, it gives rise to an entirely new theory, which we develop in some detail.

Abstract:In analogy with the definition of ``extended Sobolev scale" on $\mathbb{R}^n$ by Mikhailets and Murach, working in the setting of the lattice $\mathbb{Z}^n$, we define the ``extended Sobolev scale" $H^{\varphi}(\mathbb{Z}^n)$, where $\varphi$ is a function which is $RO$-varying at infinity. Using the scale $H^{\varphi}(\mathbb{Z}^n)$, we describe all Hilbert function-spaces that serve as interpolation spaces with respect to a pair of discrete Sobolev spaces $[H^{(s_0)}(\mathbb{Z}^n), H^{(s_1)}(\mathbb{Z}^n)]$, with $s_0<s_1$. We use this interpolation result to obtain the mapping property and the Fredholmness property of (discrete) pseudo-differential operators (PDOs) in the context of the scale $H^{\varphi}(\mathbb{Z}^n)$. Furthermore, starting from a first-order positive-definite (discrete) PDO $A$ of elliptic type, we define the ``extended discrete $A$-scale" $H^{\varphi}_{A}(\mathbb{Z}^n)$ and show that it coincides, up to norm equivalence, with the scale $H^{\varphi}(\mathbb{Z}^n)$. Additionally, we establish the $\mathbb{Z}^n$-analogues of several other properties of the scale $H^{\varphi}(\mathbb{R}^n)$.

Abstract:In this paper we show how to construct a regular, non commutative Cauchy kernel for slice regular quaternionic functions. We prove an (algebraic) representation formula for such functions, which leads to a new Cauchy formula. We find the expression of the derivatives of a regular function in terms of the powers of the Cauchy kernel, and we present several other consequent results.

A representation formula for regular functions on the characteristic plane of the second Heisenberg group

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to study a Laplace-type operator and its fundamental solution on the characteristic plane in the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^2$. We introduce a conformal version of the Laplacian and we prove that the distance induced by the immersion in the ambient space is a good approximation of its fundamental solution. We provide in particular a representation formula for smooth functions in terms of the gradient of the function and the gradient of the approximated fundamental solution. This representation formula in the plane is stable up to its characteristic point.

Abstract:In the paper, we present a family of multivariate compactly supported scaling functions, which we call as elliptic scaling functions. The elliptic scaling functions are the convolution of elliptic splines, which correspond to homogeneous elliptic differential operators, with distributions. The elliptic scaling functions satisfy refinement relations with real isotropic dilation matrices. The elliptic scaling functions satisfy most of the properties of the univariate cardinal B-splines: compact support, refinement relation, partition of unity, total positivity, order of approximation, convolution relation, Riesz basis formation (under a restriction on the mask), etc. The algebraic polynomials contained in the span of integer shifts of any elliptic scaling function belong to the null-space of a homogeneous elliptic differential operator. Similarly to the properties of the B-splines under differentiation, it is possible to define elliptic (not necessarily differential) operators such that the elliptic scaling functions satisfy relations with these operators. In particular, the elliptic scaling functions can be considered as a composition of segments, where the function inside a segment, like a polynomial in the case of the B-splines, vanishes under the action of the introduced operator.

Abstract:Let $f: B^n \rightarrow {\mathbb R}$ be a $d+1$ times continuously differentiable function on the unit ball $B^n$, with $\max_{z\in B^n} \| f(z) \|=1$. A well-known fact is that if $f$ vanishes on a set $Z\subset B^n$ with a non-empty interior, then for each $k=1,\ldots,d+1$ the norm of the $k$-th derivative $\|f^{(k)}\|$ is at least $M=M(n,k)>0$. We show that this fact remains valid for all ``sufficiently dense'' sets $Z$ (including finite ones). The density of $Z$ is measured via the behavior of the covering numbers of $Z$. In particular, the bound $\|f^{(k)}\|\ge \tilde M=\tilde M(n,k)>0$ holds for each $Z$ with the box (or Minkowski, or entropy) dimension $\dim_e(Z)$ greater than $n-\frac{1}{k}$.

Abstract:In this paper we study weighted Hardy-Sobolev spaces of vector valued functions analytic on double-napped cones of the complex plane. We introduce these spaces as a tool for complex scaling of linear ordinary differential equations with dilation analytic unbounded operator coefficients. As examples we consider boundary value problems in cylindrical domains and domains with quasicylindrical ends.

Abstract:We discuss the octonionic regular functions and the octonionic regular operator on the octonionic Heisenberg group. This is the octonionic version of CR function theory in the theory of several complex variables and regular function theory on the quaternionic Heisenberg group. By identifying the octonionic algebra with $\mathbb{R }^{8}$, we can write the octonionic regular operator and the associated Laplacian operator as real $(8\times 8)$-matrix differential operators. Then we use the group Fourier transform on the octonionic Heisenberg group to analyze the associated Laplacian operator and to construct its kernel. This kernel is exactly the Szegö kernel of the orthonormal projection from the space of $L^{2}$ functions to the space of $L^{2}$ regular functions on the octonionic Heisenberg group.

Abstract:In this paper we start the study of Schur analysis for Cauchy–Fueter regular quaternionic-valued functions, i.e. null solutions of the Cauchy–Fueter operator in . The novelty of the approach developed in this paper is that we consider axially regular functions, i.e. functions spanned by the so-called Clifford-Appell polynomials. This type of functions arises naturally from two well-known extension results in hypercomplex analysis: the Fueter mapping theorem and the generalized Cauchy–Kovalevskaya (GCK) extension. These results allow one to obtain axially regular functions starting from analytic functions of one real or complex variable. Precisely, in the Fueter theorem two operators play a role. The first one is the so-called slice operator, which extends holomorphic functions of one complex variable to slice hyperholomorphic functions of a quaternionic variable. The second operator is the Laplace operator in four real variables, that maps slice hyperholomorphic functions to axially regular functions. On the other hand, the generalized CK-extension gives a characterization of axially regular functions in terms of their restriction to the real line. In this paper we use these two extensions to define two notions of rational function in the regular setting. For our purposes, the notion coming from the generalized CK-extension is the most suitable. Our results allow to consider the Hardy space, Schur multipliers and their relation with realizations in the framework of Clifford-Appell polynomials. We also introduce two notions of regular Blaschke factors, through the Fueter theorem and the generalized CK-extension.
