Abstract:In this paper, we defined a new generalized Cochrane sum with Dirichlet characters, and gave the upper bound of the generalized Cochrane sum with Dirichlet characters. Moreover, we studied the asymptotic estimation problem of the mean value of the generalized Cochrane sum with Dirichlet characters and obtained a sharp asymptotic formula for it. By using this asymptotic formula, we also gave the mean value of the generalized Dedekind sum.

Abstract:Consider the problem of approximating the tail probability of randomly weighted sums ∑i=1nΘiXi and their maxima, where {Xi,i≥1} is a sequence of identically distributed but not necessarily independent random variables from the extended regular variation class, and {Θi,i≥1} is a sequence of nonnegative random variables, independent of {Xi,i≥1} and satisfying certain moment conditions. Under the assumption that {Xi,i≥1} has no bivariate upper tail dependence along with some other mild conditions, this paper establishes the following asymptotic relations: Pr(max1≤k≤n∑i=1kΘiXi>x)∼Pr(∑i=1nΘiXi>x)∼∑i=1nPr(ΘiXi>x), and Pr(max1≤k<∞∑i=1kΘiXi>x)∼Pr(∑i=1∞ΘiXi+>x)∼∑i=1∞Pr(ΘiXi>x), as x→∞. In doing so, no assumption is made on the dependence structure of the sequence {Θi,i≥1}.

We translate one kind fourth power mean of the Kloosterman sums into the character sums of one kind polynomials. It is possible to construct an exact formula for the fourth power mean of one kind Kloosterman sums by computing the character sums of the polynomials. The paper is novel because of its proof and conversion strategies.

Abstract:Let q >= 3 be an integer, and let chi denote a Dirichlet character modulo q. For any real number a >= 0, we define the generalized Dirichlet L-function as L(s, chi, a) = Sigma(infinity)(n-1) chi(n)/(n + a)(s), where s = sigma + it with sigma > 1 and t both real. It can be extended to all s using analytic continuation. For any integer m, the famous Gauss sum G(m, chi) is defined as G(m, chi) = Sigma(q)(a-1) chi(a)e (am/q), where e(y) = e(2 pi iy). This paper uses analytic methods to study the mean value properties of the generalized Dirichlet L-functions with the weight of the Gauss sums, and a sharp asymptotic formula is obtained.
