Abstract:The $N$-soliton solution is presented for a two-component modified nonlinear Schrödinger equation which describes the propagation of short pulses in birefringent optical fibers. The solution is found to be expressed in terms of determinants. The proof of the solution is carried out by means of an elementary theory of determinants. The generalization of the 2-component system to the multi-component system is discussed as well as a (2+1)-dimensional nonlocal equation arising from its continuum limit.

Abstract:In this paper, a new algebraic method with symbolic computation is presented to uniformly construct a series of exact solutions for general nonlinear equations. Compared with most existing tanh methods, the proposed method not only gives new and more general solutions, but also provides a guideline to classify the various types of the solutions according to the values of some parameters. For illustration, we apply the proposed method to solve a new generalized Hirota–Satsuma coupled system and explicitly construct a series of exact solutions which include the soliton solutions and elliptic doubly periodic solutions as special cases. In addition, the links among our proposed method, the tanh method and the extended method are also clarified generally.

Abstract:An explicit N-fold Darboux transformation with multiparameters for nonlinear Schrodinger equation is constructed with the help of its Lax pairs and a reduction technique. According to this Darboux transformation, the solutions of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation are reduced to solving a Linear algebraic system, from which a unified and explicit formulation of N-soliton solutions with multiparameters for the nonlinear Schrodinger equation is given.

Abstract:Based on the Riemann theta function, the Hirota bilinear method is extended to directly construct a kind of explicit quasi-periodic solution of the Toda lattice equation. The asymptotic property of the quasi-periodic solution is analyzed in detail. It is of interest to see that the well-known soliton solution can be obtained as a limit of the quasi-periodic solution.

Abstract:Modern Physics Letters B, Ahead of Print. This paper constructs a new [math]-dimensional Hirota–Satsuma–Ito equation and employs the Hirota N-soliton condition to determine the conditions for the existence of N-soliton solutions. Under these conditions, the Hirota bilinear method is utilized to derive N-soliton solutions of the equation. Additionally, breather solutions of the equation are obtained through constraints on complex conjugate parameters, while lump solutions are derived using the long-wave limit method. Building upon these results, interaction solutions are also explored. Furthermore, through the multiple-rogue wave method, multi-rogue wave solutions of the [math]-dimensional Hirota–Satsuma–Ito equation are investigated. A comparison between lump solutions obtained via the Hirota bilinear method and the multi-rogue wave solutions from multiple-rogue wave method reveals significant discrepancies.

Abstract:Under investigation in this paper is a discrete modified exponential Toda lattice equation which may describe vibration of particles in a lattice. Firstly, we construct an integrable lattice hierarchy associated with this equation from a $2\times 2$ matrix spectral problem, and some related integrable properties such as Hamiltonian structures, Liouville integrability and conservation laws of this hierarchy are discussed. Secondly, we present the discrete generalized $(m, N-m)$-fold Darboux transformation of the modified exponential Toda lattice equation on the basis of its known Lax representation. As applications of the obtained discrete generalized Darboux transformation, multi-kink-soliton solutions on an exponential surface background and an inclined plane background are obtained when $m=2N$, the discrete rational and semi-rational solutions are derived when $m=1$, and the mixed solutions of usual soliton solutions and rational solutions are given when $m=2$. Based on the asymptotic and graphic analysis, soliton elastic interaction phenomena and limit states related to rational solutions are discussed and analyzed. Furthermore, some mathematical features of rational solutions are summarized. Finally, numerical simulations are used to explore the dynamical behaviors of such soliton solutions which show the soliton evolutions are robust against a small noise. These results and properties given in this paper might be useful for understanding nonlinear lattice dynamics.

Soliton resolution for Calogero--Moser derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation

Abstract:We consider soliton resolution for the Calogero--Moser derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation (CM-DNLS). A rigorous PDE analysis of (CM-DNLS) was recently initiated by Gérard and Lenzmann, who demonstrated its Lax pair structure. Additionally, (CM-DNLS) exhibits several symmetries, such as mass-criticality with pseudo-conformal symmetry and a self-dual Hamiltonian. Despite its integrability, finite-time blow-up solutions have been constructed. The purpose of this paper is to establish soliton resolution for both finite-time blow-up solutions and global solutions in a fully general setting, \emph{without imposing radial symmetry or size constraints}. To our knowledge, this is the first non-integrable proof of full soliton resolution for Schrödinger-type equations. A key aspect of our proof is the control of the energy of the outer radiation after extracting a soliton, referred to as the \emph{energy bubbling} estimate. This benefits from two levels of convervation laws, mass and energy, and self-duality. This approach allows us to directly prove continuous-in-time soliton resolution, bypassing time-sequential soliton resolution. Importantly, our proof does not rely on the integrability of the equation, potentially offering insights applicable to other non-integrable models.

Soliton-Generating $τ$-Functions Revisited

Abstract:Within the framework of the Inverse-Scattering formalism and the Hirota algorithm, soliton solutions of evolution equations are images of {\tau}-functions. Typically, the latter are expressed in terms of exponentials, the arguments of which are linear in the coordinates. Consequently, often, {\tau}-functions are unbounded in space and time. However, they are not unique. Exploitation of their non-uniqueness uncovers physically interesting possibilities: 1) One can construct equivalent {\tau}-functions, which generate the same traditional (Inverse-Scattering/Hirota)) soliton solutions, yet allow for the extension of the family of soliton solutions to a wider, parametric family, in which the traditional solutions are a subset. The parameters are shifts in individual soliton trajectories. 2) When two wave numbers in a multi-soliton solution are made to coincide, the reduction of the solution to one with a lower number of solitons is qualitatively different for solutions that are within the traditional subset and those that are outside this subset. 3) One can construct {\tau}-functions that are bounded in space and time, in terms of which soliton solutions become images of localized sources.

Integrable Variants of the Toda Lattice

Abstract:By introducing bilinear operators of trigonometric type, we propose several novel integrable variants of the famous Toda lattice, two of which can be regarded as integrable discretizations of the Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation—a universal model describing weakly nonlinear waves in media with dispersion of velocity. We also demonstrate that two one-dimensional reductions of these variants can approximate the nonlinear Schrödinger equation and a generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation well. It turns out that these equations admit meaningful solutions including solitons, breathers, lumps and rogue waves, which are expressed in terms of explicit and closed forms. In particular, it seems to be the first time that rogue wave solutions have been obtained for Toda-type equations. Furthermore, g -periodic wave solutions are also produced in terms of Riemann theta function. An approximation solution of the three-periodic wave is successfully carried out by using a deep neural network. The introduction of trigonometric-type bilinear operators is also efficient in generating new variants together with rich properties for some other integrable equations.

Abstract:The celebrated Hirota equation has important applications in nonlinear optics and quantum physics. This paper proposes a new type of time-varying spectral Hirota (tvsH) equation with variable coefficients and constructs its soliton solutions by extending the Riemann–Hilbert (RH) method. Specifically, Lax representation of the tvsH equation is first provided, which consists of time-varying spectral matrices, and the corresponding RH problem is further established by analyzing the Lax pair. Then, by combining inverse scattering and the spatiotemporal evolution of matrix vector solutions, an explicit expression for n -soliton solution of the tvsH equation is constructed in the absence of reflection potential. In addition, the collision soliton dynamics of the tvsH equation under isospectral and non-isospectral conditions are analyzed by modulating the time-varying coefficients. Most importantly, through the dynamic analysis of single and double solitons in the tvsH equation, we discover some new waveforms that have never been reported before, such as oscillating parabolic solitons and amplitude parabolic variation solitons. These waveforms may have significant theoretical and practical implications.

Abstract:In this paper, our research objective is mainly to obtain X-type soliton solutions and resonance Y-type soliton solutions for the (2 + 1)-dimensional Konopelchenko–Dubrovsky (KD) equation. Based on the Hirota bilinear method, the multiple soliton solutions of the (2 + 1)-dimensional KD equation are constructed. By setting new constrained condition to the multiple soliton solution, the X-type soliton solutions, 2-resonance Y-type soliton solutions and the two 2-resonance Y-type solitons are obtained. Furthermore, several hybrid solutions consisting of the 2-resonance Y-type solitons and two line solitons are derived. In addition, by selecting two new test functions, two novel Y-type solitons of the (2 + 1)-dimensional KD equation were obtained. Finally, the dynamic behavior of these interaction solutions was studied in a graphical manner. It is hoped that the results of this paper can provide some assistance for the study of soliton theory.

Abstract:In this paper, our main purpose is to study the soliton solutions of conformable time-fractional perturbed Radhakrishnan-Kundu-Lakshmanan equation. New soliton solutions have been obtained by the extended $ (G'/G) $-expansion method, first integral method and complete discrimination system for the polynomial method, respectively. The solutions we obtained mainly include hyperbolic function solutions, solitary wave solutions, Jacobi elliptic function solutions, trigonometric function solutions and rational function solutions. Moreover, we draw its three-dimensional graph.

Abstract:Our attention concenters on deriving diverse forms of the soliton arising from the Myrzakulov-Lakshmanan XXXII (M-XXXII) that describes the generalized Heisenberg ferromagnetic equation. This model has been solved numerically only using the N-fold Darboux Transformation method, not solved analytically before. We will derive new types of the analytical soliton solutions that will be constructed for the first time in the framework of three impressive schemas that are prepared for this target. These three techniques are the Generalized Kudryashov scheme (GKS), the (G'/G)-expansion scheme and the extended direct algebraic scheme (EDAS). Moreover, we will establish the 2D, 3D graphical simulations that clear the new dynamic properties of our achieved solutions.

Abstract:In this article, we focus on a specific version of the NDDEs which is the relativistic Toda lattice equation. We employ the generalized exponential rational function method on a nonlinear model of surface wave propagation to recognize their diverse singular soliton and multi-soliton wave structures. What is remarkable in this article is the use of graphic diagrams, which have diversified the solutions for solving such equations, leading to a greater understanding of the movements of particles and the strengthening of nonlinear lattice dynamics. The efficiency and strength of the employed method are illustrated, signifying its applicability to a wide spectrum of NDDEs in physical phenomena.

Abstract:For the discrete PT‐symmetric nonlinear Schrödinger (dPTNLS) equation, this paper gives a rigorous proof of the N‐fold Darboux transformation (DT) and especially verifies the PT‐symmetric relation between transformed potentials in the Lax pair. Meanwhile, some determinant identities are developed in completing the proof. When the tanh‐function solution is directly selected as a seed for the focusing case, the onefold DT yields a three‐soliton solution that exhibits the solitonic behavior with a wide range of parameter regimes. Moreover, it is shown that the solution contains three pairs of asymptotic solitons, and that each asymptotic soliton can display both the dark and antidark soliton profiles or vanish as t→±∞ . It indicates that the focusing dPTNLS equation admits a rich variety of soliton interactions over the nonzero background, behaving like those in the continuous counterpart.

Abstract:One soliton of particle velocity and its amplitude (maximum particle velocity of one soliton) in Toda lattice is given analytically It has also been known numerically that the maximum particle velocity (when the collision of two solitons reaches their maximum, we define V-n at this time as its maximum particle velocity) during the collision of two solitons moving in the same direction is equal to the difference between the amplitudes of two solitons if the difference is large enough; however, the maximum particle velocity is equal to the adding up of the amplitudes of two solitons moving in the opposite directions. The relationship between the maximum value of e(-rn)-1 and their initial amplitude of e(-rn) - 1 is also given analytically in Toda lattice if the amplitudes of the two solitons are the same and their moving directions are opposite. Compared with the Boussinesq equation, there are differences between the Toda lattice equation and the Boussinesq equation for solitons during the collision.
Soliton resolution along a sequence of times with dispersive error for type II singular solutions to focusing energy critical wave equation

Abstract:In this paper, we study the soliton resolution conjecture for Type II singular solutions $\overrightarrow{u}(t)$ to the focusing energy critical wave equation in $R^d\times [0,T_+)$, with $3\leq d\leq 5$. Suppose that $u$ has a singularity at $(x,t)=(0,T_+)$, we show that along a sequence of times $t_n\uparrow T_+$ and in a neighborhood of $(0,T_+)$, $\overrightarrow{u}(t_n)$ can be decomposed as the sum of a regular part in the energy space, a finite combination of modulated solitons (translation, scaling and Lorentz transform of steady states) and a residue term which goes to zero in the Strichartz norm. In addition, the residue term is asymptotically radial and can concentrate energy only in a thin annulus near $|x|=T_+-t_n$. Our main tools include a Morawetz estimate, similar to the one used for wave maps, and the use of a virial identity to eliminate dispersive energy in $|x|<\lambda (T_+ -t_n)$ for any $\lambda\in (0,1)$.

Abstract:We construct N-soliton solutions to the equation called Q3 in the recent Adler-Bobenko-Suris classification. An essential ingredient in the construction is the relationship of $(Q3)_{\delta=0}$ to the equation proposed by Nijhoff, Quispel and Capel in 1983 (the NQC equation). This latter equation has two extra parameters, and depending on their sign choices we get a 4-to-1 relationship from NQC to $(Q3)_{\delta=0}$. This leads to a four-term background solution, and then to a 1-soliton solution using a Backlund transformation. Using the 1SS as a guide allows us to get the N-soliton solution in terms of the tau-function of the Hirota-Miwa equation.
