Abstract:Background and aimPancreatic pseudocysts (PPC) are a complication that occurs in acute and chronic pancreatitis. They comprise 75 % of cystic lesions of the pancreas. There are scarce data about surgical versus endoscopic treatment on PPC. The aim of this study was to compare both treatment modalities regarding clinical success, complication rate, recurrence, hospital stay and cost.MethodsRetrospectively, data obtained prospectively from 2000 to 2012 were analyzed. A PPC was defined as a fluid collection in the pancreatic or peripancreatic area that had a well-defined wall and contained no solid debris or recognizable parenchymal necrosis. Clinical success was defined as complete resolution or a decrease in size of the PPC to 2 cm or smaller.ResultsOverall, 64 procedures in 61 patients were included: 21 (33 %) cases were drained endoscopically guided by EUS and 43 (67 %) cases were drained surgically. The clinical success of the endoscopic group was 90.5 versus 90.7 % for the surgical group (P = 0.7), with a complication rate of 23.8 and 25.6 %, respectively (P = 0.8), and a mortality rate of 0 and 2.3 % for each group, respectively (P = 0.4). The hospital stay was lower for the endoscopic group: 0 (0–10) days compared with 7 (2–42) days in the surgical group (P < 0.0001). Likewise, the cost was lower in the endoscopic group (P < 0.001). The recurrence rate was similar in both groups: 9.5 and 4.5 % respectively (P = 0.59). The two recurrences found in the endoscopic group were associated with stent migration, and the recurrence in the surgical group was due to the type of surgery performed (open drainage).ConclusionEndoscopic treatment of PPC offers the same clinical success, recurrence, complication and mortality rate as surgical treatment but with a shorter hospital stay and lower costs.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE: Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided drainage is a widely used treatment modality for pancreatic pseudocysts (PPC). However, data on the clinical outcome and complication rates are conflicting. Our study aims to evaluate the rates of technical success, treatment success and complications of EUS-guided PPC drainage in a medium-term follow-up of 45 weeks.MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective review was conducted for 55 patients with symptomatic PPC from December 2005 to August 2010 drained by EUS. Medium-term follow-up data were obtained by searching their medical history or by telephonic interview.RESULTS: A total of 61 procedures were performed. The symptoms that indicated drainage were abdominal pain (n = 43), vomiting (n = 7) and jaundice (n = 5). The procedure was technically successful in 57 of the 61 procedures (93%). The immediate complication rate was 5%. At a mean follow-up of 45 weeks, the treatment success was 75%. The medium term complications appeared in 25% of cases, which included three cases each of stent clogging, stent migration, infection and six cases of recurrence. There was no mortality.CONCLUSION: EUS-guided drainage is an effective treatment for PPC with a successful outcome in most of patients. Most of the complications require minimal invasive surgical treatment or repeated EUS-guided drainage procedures.

Abstract:Surgery for pancreatic pseudocysts (PPCs) may be associated with high rates of complication and mortality. Since its introduction in the late 1980s, endoscopic drainage of PPCs has become established as an alternative nonsurgical approach. The obvious limitation of this technique is its relatively blind approach. The ideal approach for PPC puncture combines endoscopy with real-time endosonography using an interventional echoendoscope. Endoscopic ultrasonographic longitudinal scanners can be used for guidance of transmural punctures and drainage procedures, as well as to access a dilated pancreatic duct if the duct cannot be drained by conventional methods because of complete obstruction. In this chapter, we will review the indications, techniques and clinical algorithm for EUS-guided pseudocyst drainage and pancreaticogastrostomy.

Abstract:Introduction. The incidence of pancreatic pseudocysts (PPC) amounts to 0.5–1 per 100,000 adults per year. In all the pancreatic disorders the incidence of PPC amounts to 1.6-4.5%. Designing an individually tailored treatment programme using minimally invasive techniques to ensure the longest lasting treatment effect combined with the reduction of surgical trauma is an important issue of today’s surgery. Materials and methods. This paper presents a retrospective analysis of surgeries performed on 101 patients with infected PPC treated in the period from 2000 to 2015 at surgical wards of the Centre for Emergency and Disaster Medicine of the Regional Teaching Hospital, Kharkiv, Ukraine and the Department of Pancreatic and Bile Duct Surgery of A. A. Shalimov National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology, Kyiv, Ukraine. Of these, 74 patients (73.3%) were male and 27 (26.7%) — female, aged 21 to 79, average age of patients was 43.3±1.2 years. Results. Percutaneous drainage was administered to patients with type I infected PPC with the onset of multiple organ failure in order to make the wait-and-see strategy possible and to alleviate the patient’s general condition and improve the course of sepsis. For patients with type II and III infected PPC percutaneous punctures were the final stage of treatment in 80% of cases. Whether radical surgical procedures were performed depended on the severity of the patient’s condition, degree of pancreatic necrosis or chronic pancreatitis spread, PC localisation, duct system condition and complications involving neighbouring organs. Conclusion. When treating patients with PPC one has to use an individually tailored treatment strategy based on state of the art minimally invasive treatment techniques. When treating infected PPC both minimally invasive and traditional open access procedures have to be considered as mutually complementing, presenting a broad range of diagnostic and treatment options.
Long-term results after endoscopic drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts: A single-center experience

Abstract:Background: Pancreatic pseudocysts (PPC) are collections of fluid encapsulated within a well-defined inflammatory wall that develop during pancreatic inflammation. Internal drainage represents the standard of care in lesions that persist and lead to symptoms and complications. Only limited data are available on long-term results and recurrence of PPC after drainage procedures. Thus, the aim of the present study was to analyse the long-term outcome after endoscopic drainage of PPC. Material and methods: Patient data were retrospectively collected by review of clinical records of the University Medical Center Mannheim. We assessed the clinical short-term outcome (results in the first 30 days after initial drainage procedure), medium-term outcome (results 6 months after initial drainage procedure) and long-term outcome (results after stent removal). We performed statistical analysis to identify possible risk factors for recurrence of PPC. Results: We identified 51 patients with initially successful endoscopic drainage of the PPC (n = 51/53, 96%). Among this cohort, 43 patients were available for assessment of medium-term results. In 82.9% of these 43 patients the drainage could be removed after successful treatment of the PPC. Thirty patients were available for long term follow-up with a mean observation period of 42.2 months (SD 32.8 months). Among these patients, seven (n = 7/30, 23.3%) had recurrent PPC. Approximately half of the recurrent cysts arose in different anatomical regions and most patients with recurrence had chronic pancreatitis. Conclusion: Endoscopic drainage represents an effective treatment for PPC. Approximately one quarter of the patients developed recurrent PPC. Half of recurrent PPC developed in different pancreatic regions than the initial PPC.

Abstract:Pancreatic pseudocyst (PPC) and walled-off necrosis (WON) develop as late complications of acute pancreatitis that have been historically managed surgically. With the advancement in endoscopic equipment and the evolution of endoscopic surgery, the management of PPC has evolved considerably in recent years from surgical drainage to transmural endoscopic drainage. Till the end of the 20th century, a limited number of surgeons performed laparoscopic drainage of PPCs. Due to the steep learning curve needed for performing advanced laparoscopic suturing, a majority of studies conducted during this period have compared open surgical drainage with endoscopy. The efficacy of these modalities has largely been evaluated using retrospective studies and a few meta-analyses particularly due to the low-volume caseload of individual centres. Also, these studies include PPC and WON together in data analysis despite WON being a distinct entity. There are limited prospective well-designed clinical trials comparing endoscopic and laparoscopic management of pure PPCs. There is also a lack of specific recommendations for the management of PPCs. Considerable overlap of indications between these two modalities exists. The efficacy of endoscopic transmural drainage as an index intervention when compared to laparoscopy has not been proven in the research literature. Previous studies have not considered multiple endoscopic interventions within a four-week period of index intervention as a failure. We reviewed the literature using appropriate MeSH terms on the PubMed search engine for articles comparing laparoscopic and endoscopic transmural management of PPCs according to our inclusion and exclusion criteria. Seven articles were identified for inclusion in the qualitative synthesis. This scoping review was conducted to answer some pertinent unanswered questions, identify gaps in knowledge regarding the laparoscopic vs endoscopic management of PPCs, and guide further research.

Abstract:Forty-three cases of pancreatic pseudocysts (PPC) are reviewed. Various emergency and elective surgical therapeutical options have been employed: while external drainage has confirmed to represent the best procedure in emergency occurrences, cystojejunostomy has proved to be the treatment that better provides both optimal functional results and minimal mortality/morbidity in elective situations. Our study also confirms that the thickness of the pseudocystic wall is the only feature apt to determine whether or not a PPC is susceptible of internal surgical derivation, and that abdominal ultrasound scanning is the most sensitive and reliable diagnostic method to ascertain this prerequisite, thus providing a well-timed strategy for elective derivative operations.

Abstract:Background: Pancreatic pseudocyst is a complication of acute and chronic pancreatitis. Although surgery considered the gold standard, there is a rapid shift towards endoscopic treatment owing to its therapeutic outcome and minimal invasive involvement. This study aims to present the clinical profile and outcome analysis of the endoscopic drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts in Dhulikhel Hospital. Methods: This is a retrospective review of all patients who were diagnosed with pancreatic pseudocyst between January 2015 and December 2018 in Dhulikhel Hospital. The retrospective data were on patient characteristics, etiology, location of the cyst, other clinical characteristics. Results: The study included 51 patients and the average age of the patients in this study was 39 years and among them 62.7% were female. The mean size of pseudocyst was 7.89 cm, and the average days of hospital stay was 13.64. The most common etiology was idiopathic and more than half of the patient's cyst was in head and/or body, 15 and 36 underwent conservative and therapeutic management respectively. The technical success rate was at 94% and reported increased pancreatic pseudocyst in Dhulikhel Hospital from 2015-18. Conclusions: The study findings highlight the increased trend of pancreatitis pseudocyst as a complication of acute or chronic pancreatitis. Endoscopic drainage of pseudocyst with plastic stent is an established method of managing it. However, pancreatic pseudocyst even larger than 6 cm can undergo spontaneous resolution.Hence, conservative management should be considered first.

Abstract:A pancreatic pseudocyst (PPC) is a frequent complication of pancreatitis, often stemming from alcohol, gallstones, or hyperlipidemia. Endoscopic treatment of PPC has become the mainstream treatment. A case of one giant and multiple small PPCs was observed, manifesting as repeated abdominal bloating, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting after meals. Initial computed tomography scans revealed the presence of multiple PPCs. Despite ineffective medical treatment, the pseudocysts progressively increased. In response, we conducted a combined endoscopic intervention, involving Hot AXIOS (Boston Scientific, Marlborough, MA) stenting through endoscopic ultrasound-guided transmural drainage (EUS-TMD) and the placement of the endoscopic nasopancreatic drainage (ENPD) mimic stent through endoscopic retrograde pancreatography (ERP). Remarkably, after nine months of postoperative follow-up, the patient had no discomfort symptoms and the cyst disappeared. We conducted a literature review on endoscopic combined drainage for PPCs, which is still controversial. Our presented case serves as a demonstration that endoscopic combined drainage can effectively and successfully manage giant and multiple PPCs.

Abstract:Authors, after illustrating the pathogenesis of Pancreatic Pseudocysts (PPC) and classifying them into secondary to acute pancreatitis and arising in course of chronic pancreatitis, underline that the use of Ultrasound (US), CT-scan, Magnetic Resonance, Endoscopic Retrograde CholangioPancreatography and, above all, percutaneous drainage of the cysts has modified the therapeutic approach to this pathology. They describe indications and technique of US or CT-guided percutaneous drainage, and report their experience about 12 cases of PPC secondary to acute pancreatitis and 4 of PPC arising during chronic pancreatitis. They analyze the limits of this technique (risk of infections, recurrences, fistulas), and conclude that Percutaneous Drainage of Pancreatic Pseudocysts is a useful therapeutic approach in the treatment of PPC secondary to acute pancreatitis, while its use is complementary to surgery in the treatment of PPC due to chronic pancreatitis.

Abstract:OBJECTIVES: Pancreatic pseudocysts (PPC) are fluid collections with a well-defined wall that persist for more than 4 weeks inside or around the pancreas as a result of pancreatic inflammation and/or a ductal lesion. PPC have been successfully treated with endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided drainage using different stents. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of EUS-guided drainage of PPC using double-pigtail plastic stents in a tertiary hospital.METHODS: Patients with PPC referred for EUS-guided drainage between May 2015 and December 2019 were included in this case series. The primary endpoint was to evaluate the efficacy (clinical success) and safety (adverse events and mortality) of EUS-guided drainage of PPC. Secondary endpoints included technical success and pseudocyst recurrence.RESULTS: Eleven patients (mean age, 44.5±18.98 years) were included in this study. The etiologies for PPC were acute biliary pancreatitis, chronic alcoholic pancreatitis, and blunt abdominal trauma. The mean pseudocyst size was 9.4±2.69 cm. The clinical success rate was 91% (10/11). Adverse events occurred in three of 11 patients (27%). There were no cases of mortality. The technical success rate was 100%. Pseudocyst recurrence was identified in one of 11 patients (9%) at 12 weeks after successful clinical drainage and complete pseudocyst resolution.CONCLUSION: EUS-guided transmural drainage of PPC using double-pigtail plastic stents is safe and effective with high technical and clinical success rates.

The Clinical Effects Analysis of Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Transmural Drainage of Pancreatic Pseudocysts

Abstract:Objective To assess the safety and the efficacy of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided transmural drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts (PPC).Methods A total of 17 patients with PPC who underwent EUS to detect the optimal site and depth of puncture.The needle was punctured into the PPC cavity through endoscopic biopsy hole,cyst fluid was drained with a syringe.The guide wire was inserted along the pinhole under X-ray,and then the needle-knife was sent along the guide wire to cut the gastric wall and pseudocysts wall,followed by balloon dilation.The way of drainage was selected according to the cyst fluid properties.The technical success rate,treatment success rate,complication occurring rate and the skills were evaluated.Results Four patients were with nasalcystic catheter drainage,9 patients with double pigtail stents internal drainage,and 4 patients with nasal-cystic catheter and double pigtail stents combination drainage.The treatment success rates were 3/4,7/9,and 4/4 respectively.Only 1 patient subsequently developed bleeding from puncture site after stent successively placed,and was turned to surgery because of ineffective endoscopic treatment.Infection occurred in 4 patients during drainage,two of those were switched to surgical resection due to poor medical treatment response,and the other 2 were cured with intravenous infusion of antibiotics sensitive to cyst fluid bacteria and metronidazole rinse PPC.The median follow-up duration was 28.5months,and there was none of recurrence.Conclusions EUS-guided transmural drainage of PPC is safe.Stent placement and nasal-cystic catheter play an important role in PPC treatment.

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the clinical success, technical success and complications related to Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) guided Pancreatic pseudocyst (PPC) drainage. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted on the patients with symptomatic PPC who presented over a period of three years, between January 2015 and September 2018, at Endoscopic Suite of Surgical Unit 4, Civil Hospital, Karachi. Record was analyzed for demographic data, indications for the procedure, complications and success related to EUS guided drainage. Statistical analyses were performed using the SPSS Version 22. Results: Total number of patients was 71. Mean age was 37.20 ± 17.27 years with a range of 6 to 68 years. Complications occurred in 12 (8.52%) patients, including stent migration (5/12), bleeding (4/12), infection (1/12), intra-abdominal abscess (1/12) and perforation (1/12). Technical success was achieved in 100% and clinical success in 97.1%. There was no procedure-related mortality. Conclusion: Pancreatic pseudocyst (PPC) is a known complication of acute as well as chronic pancreatitis which can have dreaded and appalling effects. In this part of the world with limited and scarce resources, EUS guided drainage of PPC is most feasible and rational with minimal complications, thus making it a front runner procedure.
To evaluate the role of novel fully covered self-expanding metal stent for endoscopic drainage of infected pancreatic pseudocyst

Abstract:Introduction: Endoscopic ultrasonography-guided transgastric drainage of pancreatic pseudocyst (PPC) is the mainstay of treatment. Drainage can be achieved either by plastic stents or fully covered self-expandable metal stent (FCSEMS). Plastic stents have small lumen diameter, which may limit drainage and may necessitate re-intervention. FCSEMS are easier to deploy and preclude the need to place multiple plastic stents. Objective: To evaluate the role of novel FCSEMS for endoscopic drainage of infected PPC. Patients: 10 patients with single symptomatic pseudocyst in proximity to the stomach or duodenum and fever were treated. Pseudocyst drainage was done per protocol. Repeat computed tomography scan after 72 h. Nasocystic drain removed after 3-5 days. PATIENTS were followed-up at every 2 week interval. Stent was removed after complete disappearance of pseudocyst confirmed on imaging. Early (7 days) and late (>7 days) complications were noted and managed accordingly. Results: Technical success and clinical success achieved in all. Early complication: 1/10 (pneumoperitoneum). No late complications observed. Stent were removed without complication after 6-7 week follow-up period ranges from 6 to 8 months. Conclusion: Use of FCSEMS for pseudocyst drainage is technically feasible and safe.

Abstract:Advances in radiological techniques have led to an increase in the number of diagnoses of pancreatic pseudocyst, which is the most common pancreatic cyst lesion disease, accounting for two-thirds of all pancreatic cyst lesions. Historically, the management of pancreatic pseudocyst has been achieved through the use of conservative treatments and surgery; however, due to the complications and recurrence rate associated with these techniques, the management of pancreatic pseudocyst is challenging. Surgeons and gastroenterologists have attempted to determine the optimal management technique to treat pancreatic pseudocyst to reduce complications and the recurrence rate. From these investigations, percutaneous catheter, surgical and endoscopic drainage with ultrasonography guidance have become promising management techniques. The present review aimed to summarize the diagnostic and therapeutic methods used for the management of pancreatic pseudocyst and to compare percutaneous catheter, surgical and endoscopic drainage.

Abstract:AIM: To explore the implications of underlying diseases in treatment of pancreatic pseudocysts (PPC).METHODS: Clinical data of 73 cases of pancreatic pseudocyst treated in a 12-year period were reviewed comprehensively. Pancreatic pseudocysts were classified according to the etiological criteria proposed by D'Egidio. The correlation between the etiological classification, measure of treatment and clinical outcome of the patients was analyzed.RESULTS: According to the etiological criteria proposed by D'Egidio, 73 patients were divided into three groups. Group I was comprised of 37 patients with type I pseudocyst, percutaneous drainage was successful in the majority (9/11, 82%) while external or internal drainage was not satisfactory with a low success rate (8/16, 50%). Group II was comprised of 24 patients with type II pseudocyst, and internal drainage was curative for most of the cases (11/12, 92%), but the success rate of percutaneous or external drainage was unacceptably low (4/9, 44%). Group III consisted of 12 patients with type III pseudocyst. Internal drainage or pancreatic resection performed in 10 of these patients produced a curative rate of 80% (8/10) with the correction of the ductal pathology as a prerequisite.CONCLUSION: The classification of pancreatic pseudocyst based on its underlying diseases is meaningful for its management. Awareness of the underlying diseases of pancreatic pseudocyst and detection of the ductal pathology in type II and III pancreatic pseudocysts with endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography may help make better decisions of treatment to reduce the rate of complications and recurrence. Abstract:Pancreatic pseudocysts, commonly arising as a complication of acute or chronic pancreatitis, present a significant clinical challenge. This narrative review explores the surgical management of pancreatic pseudocysts, emphasizing advancements, techniques, and outcomes. We examine the indications for surgical intervention, including symptomatic pseudocysts, complications such as infection or hemorrhage, and pseudocysts resistant to conservative treatment. Various surgical approaches are discussed, including open surgery, laparoscopic techniques, and endoscopic interventions. The review highlights the evolution of surgical strategies, from traditional cystogastrostomy to minimally invasive methods, and assesses their efficacy and safety. Additionally, we address patient selection criteria, preoperative assessment, and postoperative care. By synthesizing current evidence and clinical experiences, this review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the best practices in the surgical management of pancreatic pseudocysts, offering valuable insights for clinicians in optimizing patient outcomes.
Clinical study on cystogastrostomy and Roux-en-Y-type cystojejunostomy in the treatment of pancreatic pseudocyst: A single-center experience

Abstract:The main purpose is to compare the efficacy of cystogastrostomy (CG) and Roux-en-Y-type cystojejunostomy (RCJ) in the treatment of pancreatic pseudocyst (PPC), and to explore the risk factors of recurrence and complications after internal drainage.Two hundred eight patients undergoing either CG or RCJ for PPC Between January 1, 2013and February 1, 2019, at West China Hospital of Sichuan University were retrospectively analyzed. The cure rate, complication rate and related factors were compared between the 2 groups.Two hundred eight patients with PPC underwent either a CG (n = 119) or RCJ (n = 89). The median follow-up time was 42.7 months. Between the 2 cohorts, there were no significant differences in cure rate, reoperation rate, and mortality (all P > .05). The operative time, estimated intraoperative blood loss, install the number of drainage tubes and total expenses in CG group were lower than those in RCJ group (all P < .05). The Logistic regression analysis showed that over twice of pancreatitis' occurrence was were independent risk factor for recurrence after internal drainage of PPC (OR 2.760, 95% CI 1.006∼7.571, P = .049). Short course of pancreatitis (OR 0.922, 95% CI 0.855∼0.994, P = .035), and RCJ (OR 2.319, 95% CI 1.033∼5.204, P = .041) were independent risk factors for complications after internal drainage of PPC.Both CG and RCJ are safe and effective surgical methods for treating PPC. There were no significant differences in cure rate, reoperation rate, and mortality between the 2 groups, while the CG group had a short operation time, less intraoperative bleeding and less cost.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:Organ/space surgical site infections (OSSI) after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) are not rare events. The role of diagnosis and treatment for pancreatic and biliary diseases with an endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP) procedure is currently controversial. However, the ERCP procedure might play a role in surgical outcomes after PD.METHODS:We conducted a retrospective cohort study for patients who underwent PD in the First Affiliated Hospital with the Nanjing Medical University from 1st September 2012 to 31st January 2018. The relationship between ERCP exposure and OSSI after PD was analyzed by univariate and forward stepwise multivariate logistic regression model.RESULTS:Of the 1,365 patients who underwent PD, 136 developed OSSI (10.0%). We found that ERCP exposure before PD (EEBPD) was significantly associated with an increased incidence rate of post-operative pancreas fistula (POPF) [24.2% (23/95) vs. 14.9% (189/1,270), risk ratio (RR) =1.63, 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.11-2.38, P=0.015]. Hypertension, a higher level of preoperative low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and creatinine (Cr) were associated with elevated risks of post-operative OSSI [adjusted odds ratio (Adj-OR) (95% CI) were 1.59 (1.09-2.32), 1.70 (1.16-2.51), 1.99 (1.36-2.92)], whereas a preoperatively higher level of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) would decrease the risk [Adj-OR (95% CI), 0.62 (0.42-0.91)]. Remarkably, EEBPD would significantly increase and more than double the OSSI risk [Adj-OR (95% CI), 2.56 (1.46-4.47)] especially if it was within 14 days before surgery (Spearman =-0.698, P<0.001).CONCLUSIONS:ERCP, as an independent risk factor, significantly increased the risk of post-operative OSSI after PD if it is performed within 14 days prior to surgery. Our findings would assist clinical decision-making, and improve OSSI control and prevention.

Abstract:Background: Endoscopic cysto-gastrostomy (ECG) has become the treatment of choice for pancreatic pseudocysts (PPCs). Endoscopic drainage of PPCs requires the creation of an anastomosis between the lumen of the PPCs and the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract. Various types of stents are used for this purpose. The aim of the study is to compare the indications, quantity, and results of using double pigtail plastic stents (DPPSs) and lumen-apposing fully covered metal stents (LAMSs) in ECG. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted of 39 patients (24 men, 15 women) treated for PPCs in the Department of Digestive Tract Surgery and the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology between October 2018 and February 2023. The mean age of patients was 51.13 (28–77). Data about etiology, cyst diameter, type, and complications of the stents were collected. Results: DPPSs were placed in smaller cysts (108 vs. 140 millimeters, p = 0.04) and were maintained for a longer duration compared to LAMSs (106 vs. 34 days, p = 0.001). Cyst recurrence was reported less frequently in patients with a LAMS (0 (0%) vs. 4 (19.05%), p = 0.05) and the therapeutic success was non-significantly higher in the LAMS group compared to the DPPS group (100% vs. 85.71%), p = 0.095. Conclusions: Both DPPSs and LAMSs are characterized by high therapeutic success and low complication rates in patients undergoing ECG for PPCs.
