Abstract:This paper summarized the analysis technology of inkjet materials at home and abroad,including analysis of coating composition and characterization of surface structure of the coating.The coating composition was analyzed by infrared reflection-absorption spectrum(IRAS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and the surface characteristics were observed by scanning electron microscope(SEM) and atomic force microscope(AFM).In addition,the methods of quality evaluation of product were reviewed,including whiteness,glossiness,color density,gamut,image definition,water fastness and light fastness.These methods would provide target selections for the final applications because only excellent inkjet materials would be received and applied by more consumers.The advantages and disadvantages of the analysis technology of inkjet materials and the methods of quality evaluation of product were summarized.

Abstract:Benefiting its high reactivity with natural fabrics, vinyl sulfone reactive dyes have the advantage of obtaining good color fixation and high exhaustion rates under medium or low temperatures. Although these dyes were widely applied in traditional dyeing processes, little research has been conducted on vinyl sulfone dye-based inks for digital inkjet printing. Hence, we explore an efficient and environmental-friendly ink system for inkjet printing on natural fabrics. In this work, three vinyl sulfone reactive dyes including reactive orange 131 (O-131), reactive red AS (R-AS), and reactive blue 203 (B-203) were selected to simulate the stable structure of the dye molecules in aqueous solution by GAUSSIAN 09 package based on density functional theory (DFT). On this basis, the physicochemical properties of the inks were studied and the color fastness and apparent color depth values of cotton, linen, and silk inkjet printed fabrics were tested. As a result, compared to O-131 and B-203, the monomer molecular content of R-AS dye solutions was significantly reduced and displayed a strong tendency to aggregate. The surface tensions of three inks decreased with increasing concentrations and the degree of molecular aggregation. The rheological properties of the dye solutions were correlated with concentration and molecular weight. At the same concentrations, B-203 had the largest molecular weight and the solution exhibited the largest viscosity. The printed fabrics all possessed good color quality and color fastness, and printed silk fabric displayed higher color depth than cotton and linen fabrics. This work provided a cleaner and cost-effective ink for inkjet printing on natural fabrics by exploring the properties of vinyl sulfone reactive dye-based inks.

Abstract:Different thickness of inkjet materials was prepared. The surface properties were investigated by AFM. The results indicated that the surface roughness was changed with thickness. Print quality was analyzed by the chromatic aberration. The result indicated that the influence of the thickness on print quality is remarkable. When the thickness is 50um, the comprehensive properties are the best.

Abstract:The printing and dyeing industry is currently accelerating toward a direction of high efficiency, energy conservation, environmental protection, and integration with digitalization. Disperse dye wash-free digital inkjet dyeing is a revolutionary breakthrough for cleaning and coloring polyester fabric. Based on the solubility parameters and the hot-melt dyeing characteristics of disperse dyes, soft, hard, and functional monomers of acrylate were used as the main body. Moreover, single-vinyl fluorinated polysiloxane and divinyl polysiloxane with low solubility parameters were used as modified monomers. A modified polyacrylate (PFSMA) adhesive containing silicon in the main chain and fluorine silicon in the side chain was prepared via miniemulsion polymerization. Using disperse digital inkjet dyeing of polyester fabric without washing can realize energy saving, emission reduction, and carbon reduction. Results showed that the optimum preparation conditions of PFSMA were as follows: DVFS molecular weight of 957 g/mol and DVFS content of 2.5 wt %. Compared with that of polyacrylate (PA), the glass-transition temperature of PFSMA film decreased, and its water resistance, toughness, and adhesion enhanced. When the PFSMA content in the wash-free disperse red ink was 8 wt %, the color yields of the front and back of the PFSMA jet-dyed polyester fabric were 18.86 and 13.28, respectively. Moreover, the color yield of the front of PFSMA jet-dyed polyester fabric was 39.9% higher than that of the pure liquid disperse red jet-dyed fabric. The simulated fixation rate was 87.9%, approximately 2.9 times higher than that of the PA wash-free jet-dyed fabric. The color fastness to dry rubbing reached level 4 and the color fastness to wet rubbing reached level 3-4, which was one level higher than that of pure liquid disperse red jet-dyed fabrics. The color fastness to soaping reached grade 5 and the color fastness to heat compression reached grades 4-5 and above. The fabric was a little firmer but smoother. The color properties, color fastness, and hand feeling of the PFSMA wash-free jet-dyed polyester fabric exceeded the levels of commercially available adhesives.

Abstract:Products with various shapes and curvature have been attracted a lot of attention with the improvement of individual requirements and the development of 3D printing technology. Traditional methods of printing are applied to decorate products with regular surface. However, it is difficult to realize the decoration of products with complex curved surface. There is no doubt that inkjet printing technology is the best way to decorate products with curved surface. The development of environmentally friendly water-based ink is important for applications of inkjet printing. Water-based ink, has anti-clogging capability and suitable properties such as viscosity and surface tension, is suitable for inkjet printing. In this paper, preparation and properties of water-based soft ink and hard ink were analyzed and discussed. Then, water-based inkjet ink with environmental protection and well printability was obtained through the selection of type and content of water-based resin, water-based color paste and other additives. The water-based inkjet ink can be used to decorate products with complex curved surface by inkjet printing technology.

Abstract:Stable rheological properties of ceramic ink are a key requirement for inkjet printing (IJP), which should be satisfied in terms of the Reynolds and Weber numbers. In this paper, the reverse microemulsion was introduced for the synthesis of monodispersed nanosized ceramic powders, and the average size was less than 100 nm. A comparison of two different dispersants, i.e., polyacrylic ammonium (PAANH4) and polyacrylic aid (PAA), revealed that the former exerted a good dispersion effect on the ceramic ink. The sedimentation ratio, zeta potential, surface tension, viscosity, and density of the inks were measured, and the Reynolds and Weber numbers, as well as Z value, were calculated. A stable, homogeneous, and high solid loading (20 wt%) ceramic ink could be achieved after aging for a period of 72 h. Finally, the ceramic inks showed the desired printable property in the inkjet printing process. Combining inkjet printing technology with a sintering process, Ni-Mn-O films have the potential to monitor temperature and humidity parameters for intelligent wearable devices.

Abstract:Organic solvents adjusting the surface tension and viscosity of reactive dye inks for good droplet formation has resulted in low dye utilization and serious environmental pollution. Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) has advantages of biocompatibility, renewability and excellent surface tension and viscosity. Here, an organic solvent free dye ink was developed using HPMC and the printability of HPMC/dye inks was compared with diethylene glycol (DEG)/dye inks and commercial inks. Only adding 0.6 wt% of HPMC could obtain good droplet formation, while DEG needed to be added by 50 wt%. The HPMC/dye ink printed patterns exhibited much deeper color than the DEG/dye ink and the commercial ink due to the less diffusion of HPMC/dye ink to the back of the fabric. moreover, as the small dosage of HPMC and the poor reactivity between HPMC and reactive dye, the coloring effluent of the HPMC/dye ink was less than the DEG/dye ink and the commercial ink. According to the data of World Textile Information Network, HPMC adjusting the jetting performance will save 1.4 billion ¥ than DEG in 2025. The HPMC/dye ink is a clean ink with advantages of high performance and low pollution and cost.

Abstract:UV-LED inkjet ink is a promising environmental ink which has advantages as higher reaction speed, higher efficiency and energy saving, better environmental protection, its research and development can contribute to realizing green printing and its important for food packing security. Monomer is the important component of the UV-LED ink, in order to investigate the impact of monomer on dispersivity of UV-LED inkjet ink, seven kinds of monomers were chosen to prepare cyan color paste respectively and test their particle size and distribution. Then the ratio of co-monomers was achieved by formulation experiment to obtain the best dispersivity. In order to improve the performance of the UV-LED inkjet ink, different monomers were used to make ink samples separately, viscosity, surface tension, curing rate of the ink and flexibility and adhesion were tested. In the end, the ratio of co-monomers was achieved by formulation experiment to obtain the best overall performance. The results show that the monomer has a significant influence on the dispersion and curing rate of the UV-LED inkjet ink, but also has a great impact on film-forming properties of the ink after UV-LED curing.

Abstract:Purpose The purpose of this paper is to prepare ultra-violet (UV)-curable inkjet inks for textile printing application. The influence of both type and component ratio of monomer/oligomer on the quality of the desired viscosity range is studied. Moreover, the effect of pigment/resin ratio on the rheological behaviour of the ink has been studied. Design/methodology/approach Aqueous dispersions of nanoscale organic pigments were prepared through ball milling and ultrasonication. The dispersed pigments were encapsulated into UV-curable resin via miniemulsion technique, using different types and component ratios of monomers and oligomers. Findings It was found that the monomer/oligomer ratio of 2:3 and the pigment/resin ratio of 2:1 gave the most stable miniemulsion dispersions and provided the most suitable rheological range for inkjet printing inks. Research limitations/implications As the rheology of the ink is optimised, most of the problems associated with the jetting process could be avoided. Practical implications This method of using UV-curable encapsulated inks eliminates the usage of binders, which are the principal factor for nozzle clogging of the print head. In addition, binders are responsible for the coarse handle of the printed textiles. Social implications The UV-curable inks were viewed as a green technology by the US Environmental Protection Agency. Originality/value This method is simple and fast and requires low cost. In addition, it could find numerous applications in surface coating.

Abstract:Aimed at improving ink absorption of inkjet materials currently available, this paper describes the preparation of nano-inkjet materials by combination of the physical and chemical methods and the analysis of the surface microstructure of materials by atomic force microscope (AFM) and chromatic aberration by Spectrophotometer. The results indicate that coated colloid with the adhesion inkjet material shows a strength greater than uncoated colloid and exhibits more evenly ink-absorption layer. The analysis of the influence of coatings thickness coated colloid on properties of inkjet material finds changes in the surface microstructure and coating amount of inkjet materials due to varying coating thickness. The coat- ing thickness exerts a remarkable the effect on print quality. A 50 μm thickness produces the best com- prehensive properties.

Abstract:Purpose This paper aims to study the effect of the new modified dispersing agent, milling time of the properties and particle size distribution (PSD) of inkjet ink formulation for polyester fabric printing. Design/methodology/approach The study’s methods include preparation of different formulations of textile inkjet inks based on different types of dispersing agents, then applying and evaluating the prepared formulations on the polyester fabric. The properties of the prepared ink formulations were analyzed by measuring viscosity, surface tension and particle size. The current work is including the study of the effect of using different doses of different dispersing agents and the milling time on their characteristics. Also, the study was extended to evaluate the printed polyester by using the prepared inks according to light fastness, washing fastness, alkali perspiration fastness and crock fastness. Findings The results showed that the used dispersing agents and the different milling time enhanced the viscosity and dynamic surface tension in the accepted range, but it was largely cleared in the PSD which tends to perform the inks on the printhead and prevent clogging of nozzles. Light fastness, washing fastness, alkali perspiration fastness and crock fastness gave good results in agreement with this type of inkjet inks for textile printing. Research limitations/implications In this work, good results were obtained with this type of dispersing agent for inkjet ink formulations, but for other dispersing agents, other tests could be performed. The inkjet ink could also be formulated with other additives to prevent clogging of nozzles on the printhead. Practical implications These ink formulations could be used for printing on polyester fabric by the inkjet printing. Originality/value Recently, there was a considerable interest in the study of the effect of PSD on the inkjet inks to prevent clogging of nozzles on the printhead and to improve the print quality on the textile fiber.

Abstract:Nowadays, drop-ondemand inkjet printing technology has shown its potential in many fields. This paper presents designing and implementing of a low cost drop-ondemand inkjet printing system. Inkjet printing system can be divided into four parts, and back pressure control system and droplet observation system are two key components, both of which are described in details. In order to have a further control of accuracy and stability of the system, this paper discusses the parameters designed in the system. In pressure control system, the designed system has higher accuracy compared with the Microfabs product. Images can be taken through CCD camera instead of ultra-high-speed camera by using droplet observation system. Some experiments also have been done to verify the feasibility of the device. Accuracy of pressure control, stability of the system and reproducibility of inkjet process can be verified from the experiment.

Abstract:Owing to the fast forming speed and low viscosity of the photo-curable hydrogel ,an inkjet printing method with electromagnetic valve sprinkler and lighting systems was proposed ,which can overcome the processing complexity ,the high loss and easy pollution of materials in printing various hydrogels by the direct scanning of the cylinder solution. Solidified droplets and the accumulation of line are measured by optical microscope ,the results show that as the nozzle aperture and pressure increases,the droplets solidify diameter increases. And when the concentration is greater than 30 % and increases,the droplet diameter decreases. By establishing the droplets solidify and droplet deposition modeling model,the width of forming a straight line is not greater than a single droplet′s diameter and reflects its uniformity.

Abstract:Direct inkjet digital printing is a relatively green and environmentally friendly textile printing method with a wide range of applications in the textile printing and dyeing industry. However, pretreatment of the fabric is required before digital printing, which will generate certain energy consumption and wastewater. In this study, a digital direct inkjet printing method was developed to improve the printing accuracy of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) fabrics without any pretreatment. A kind of direct inkjet printing ink was prepared by the response change in temperature viscosity. The increase in viscosity inhibits ink bleeding on the fabric, thereby improving printing accuracy. A thermosensitive direct inkjet printing disperse dye ink was prepared by adding cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and 3-methylsalicylic acid (3MS) to the ink. By evaluating the changes in the ink particle size, shear viscosity, and temperature viscosity, it was found that this thermosensitive ink has an excellent average particle size and special changes in viscosity with increasing temperature. When this heat-sensitive ink is printed on a polyester fabric, the fabric does not need pretreatment to improve the clarity of printing, and the printed fabric has satisfactory color fastness to friction and washing.

Abstract:The work aims to review the current research achievements and development trend of nano-coating on the substrate for ink-jet printing. The composition, curing mechanism, physico-chemical properties and optical performance of nano-coating on the surface for ink-jet printing were introduced based on the research achievements of surface nano-coating at home and abroad in recent years. Furthermore, the development trend and challenge of nano-coating for ink-jet printing were summarized and analyzed. The surface nano-coating could change the physical structure and chemical composition of surfaces of the material and its products. In the process of ink-jet printing, the quality of nano-coating on the surface of substrate for ink-jet printing directly affected the quality of prints. The discussion of performance, research status, development trend, challenge and other aspects of the nano-coating for ink-jet printing herein provided suggestions on the relevant researches and applications of nano-coating for ink-jet printing. Inkjet printing, as a typical digital imaging technology, can achieve the products with personalized and diversified images. To obtain perfectly reproduced product, the chemical composition or physical structure of the substrate surface should be optimized. The surface composition and organizational structure of the material and its products can be changed by the technology of surface coating. Therefore, it is significant to study the nano-coating on the surface of substrate for ink-jet printing.

Abstract:Reddish-brown water-based ceramic inks composed of ZnFe1.2Cr0.8O4 pigment, a polymeric dispersant AD01, and some additives, were successfully obtained by grinding method. The effect of dispersant on ceramic inks, especially particle size and distribution were investigated. The grinding and dispersion mechanism of particles in the grinding processing has been discussed. The stability of particles in ceramic inks was also evaluated. Moreover, the inkjet printing performances of the water-based ceramic inks were predicted by using the dimensionless parameters Reynolds number (Re), Weber number (We), and Ohnesorge number (Oh). The results show that the water-based ceramic inks with appropriate viscosity (12.05-23.05 mPa center dot s), surface tension (27.7-31.7 mN/m) and density (1.331-1.348 g/cm(3)) can satisfy the inkjet printing requirements, and show excellent coloring ability on ceramic glaze, indicating that the water-based ceramic inks prepared have a promising application prospect.

Abstract:In order to improve the ink absorption of inkjet materials,the SiO2@Al13 core-shell structure materials are used as pigment to prepare inkjet printing materials.The viscosity cup and colorimeter is used for test.From the aspects of coating viscosity,coating weight,printing effect of coating and chromatic aberration,the effect of pigment content on ink absorption material is discussed.The results indicate that the pigment content has re markable effect on the performance of ink absorption material.It is favorable for absorbing ink by increasing the content of pigment,but the content should not be too high.When the proportion of the pigment is 75%,the material has outstanding performance.

Abstract:For device printing, it is important for uniform films to be printed because the morphology of the film affects the performance of the device in inkjet printing. In this study, to prepare stable and well-dispersed ink, polyacrylate and silicone surfactant BD-3033H were added to ink. Then a uniform quantum dot (QD) film was obtained by optimizing the polyacrylate and silicone surfactant contents of the ink as well as the substrate temperature. The change of the polyacrylate structure from a curly chain structure to a three-dimensional network structure blocked the outward flow of QDs. Silicone surfactant BD-3033H caused Marangoni flow and made the QDs flow inward. When the substrate temperature was increased, the solvent evaporation rate was accelerated, the contact line was pinned, and the outward flow was enhanced, which changed the film structure from convex to flat. Finally, when the polyacrylate content was 12 wt%, the silicone surfactant BD-3033H content was 0.10 wt%, the substrate temperature was 40°C, and the coffee ring effect was eliminated. A uniform QD film was printed, providing a technical guarantee for the fabrication of QD devices in the future.
