Abstract:High School English Curriculum Standard (experiment) points out that the curriculum reform should improve students’ language skills. It is believed that language knowledge forms the foundation of language skills. However, as an essential part of language knowledge teaching, grammar teaching usually fails to reach the ultimate teaching goals to enhance students’ language skills. Regarding situations as the platform, Situational Teaching Method tends to enable students to understand and use grammar knowledge in the context. Based on a critical review of literature in the related fields and a research conducted by the investigator in a high school, this thesis aims to offer some suggestions to optimize the use of Situational Teaching Method in grammar class and improve the students’ learning results in grammar class.

Abstract:Grammar is an important part of the language. It directly affects the accuracy and appropriateness of language comprehension and expression. English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education (2022 Edition) offers suggestions for grammar teaching. Students are encouraged to explore grammar in the context based on their understanding of the theme. However, teachers may neglect the role of thematic meaning in grammar teaching, also they fail to create the context in teaching practice. As a result, students have difficulty applying grammar properly in their lives. Based on the concept of three-dimensional dynamic grammar and teaching examples, the paper explores the strategies and specific methods of grammar teaching in thematic contexts. Through relevant literature on the thematic context and the application of some progressive activities in thematic contextualization, it is made clear that the connotation of grammar learning is to perceive grammar forms, explore grammar rules, understand grammatical meanings and further express them in correct ways. The conclusions are summarized as follows. English grammar teaching based on the thematic contexts helps to stimulate students' interest in grammar learning, while students’ ability to transfer knowledge, their cultural awareness and the quality of thinking are all enhanced.
Application of Integrating the CA and the GTM in English Grammar Teaching in Junior Middle School

Abstract:Nowadays more and more teachers have come t o k n o w t h e i m p o r t a n c e o f c o m m u n i c a t i o n i n t h e t a rg e t language in real life situations.A lot of them try to apply Communicative Approach(CA)to grammar teaching.The grammar translation method(GTM)is also an important way to teach English,especially in current examination system.The CA can play all the enthusiasm of the students or their motivation to learn,while The Grammar translation method is to help lay a solid foundation.Therefore,the author considers that the CA should be combined with the GTM.This thesis focuses on the application of integrating the CA and the GTM to grammar teaching in junior English classrooms.The author provides a detailed study by means of questionnaires,interviews,pre-test and post-test,as well as an experiment between two parallel classes.The result shows that the integration of the CA and the GTM to grammar teaching is more accepted by students,and it can improve students’grammatical learning interest and competence better than the traditional method.

Abstract:This paper studies and explores the possibility of integrating senior high school English writing with proper translation theory and practice. Due to the current situation of senior high school English writing, reforms in teaching methods are quite necessary. In the past, senior high school English teaching often separates translation and writing, neglecting the inner relationship between writing and translation. The paper aims to find a new way to integrate translation with writing, mainly focusing on a specific teaching method in translation——Process-oriented teaching and learning methodology, exploring its application in the English writing learning process. The method especially emphasizes the importance of process of learning English writing skills, which can help students acquire writing skills in a better and more sufficient way. In addition, other important advantages of learning translation, which help students learn writing skills, are also mentioned in the paper, including linguistic skills, non-linguistic skills, translation competence, and so on.

Abstract:Grammar is an important part of language. However, in actual grammar teaching, teachers directly impart grammar rules and students passively accept them. This has led to students’ disinterest in English grammar lessons and unsatisfactory grammar learning results. In order to promote students’ grammar learning, in recent years, some experts and scholars have begun to explore the application of guided discovery method in grammar classrooms. Guided discovery method is a teaching method that emphasizes guidance and focuses on discovery. Through setting up a situation, the teacher guides students to engage in the discovery activity of grammar rules by communicating with each other.This thesis uses questionnaire survey and interviews to analyze the application of guided discovery method in junior high school English grammar classrooms, as well as to analyze the positive effects of junior high school English teachers’ use of the guided discovery method on students’ grammar learning. Based on Bruner’s Discovery Learning Theory and Piaget’s Constructivism Learning Theory, this thesis takes Nanning High-tech Industrial Development Zone Minda Middle School as an example. It was found that under the guidance of guided discovery method, students’ interest and motivation in learning grammar have improved. Also, students’ autonomous learning abilities have been enhanced. Finally, students’ grammar learning strategies were cultivated through guided discovery method. Students can summarize grammar knowledge and solve grammar problems by reasoning and inducting. However, there are a small number of students who still do not have that strong learning ability cannot understand the tasks assigned by the teacher in class, so they do not learn grammar efficiently.

Abstract:Interactive teaching method advocates that the best way to learn verbal communication is through verbal communication itself, and language will be effectively learned only when the learner's mental intelligence and language input interact with each other, and there are peech communications and social interactions between learners. However, before entering college or university, most of the English education accepted by students is based on the traditional teaching method, which is mainly the study of grammar rules and neglects the cultivation of the practical use of the language. As a result, even after learning English for many years, students still dare not communicate in English. Therefore, application of interactive teaching method in college English teaching becomes very important. On the basis of summarizing and analyzing previous study results, this paper expounds the current situation of college English teaching, the existing problems of traditional English teaching, the background and core connotation of interactive teaching method, analyzes the teaching model of college English based on interactive teaching method, and finally proposes the curriculum design of college English based on interactive teaching method. The research results of this paper provide a reference for further study on the application of interactive teaching method in college English teaching.

Abstract:With the rapid development of economy, the demand for practical skills is increasing. The government is attaching more and more importance to education. All parties are concerned about the quality of children's education. It is very important for teachers to know how to use teaching method properly and how to apply it in practical teaching. However, because of various reasons, teachers only use a single teaching method or there are various problems in the actual teaching. As a result, the teaching quality is not good. This is also not conducive to the cultivation of students' abilities. Based on previous studies on grammatical translation, communicative teaching method and flipped classroom, this study studies the advantages and disadvantages of the three methods through comparative analysis. The research results show that each of the three teaching methods has its own advantages and disadvantages, and according to the characteristics and disadvantages of each teaching method, relevant suggestions are put forward.

Abstract:Based on the cases of senior spoken Chinese teaching,from the perspectives of "Function ","Text " and "Situation " in the functional grammar,the article makes a statistical analysis on the pragmatic points,material types and communicative situations of the textbook.Furthermore,it makes a thorough comparison between the requirements of Common Reference Framework for European Languages and the Chinese textbook.This article argues that current textbooks do not provide enough coverage of topics and material types,and also the texts and exercises usually have great differences in material types.Therefore,it is very important for teachers to apply functional grammar approach in course design.

Abstract:English grammar teaching has always been a crucial part of senior middle school English teaching. However, the teaching method in traditional grammar class is relatively single, and the cramming teaching method overemphasizes the teacher-centered teaching mode and ignores the importance of students as the main body of learning in the teaching process of the grammar class, thus resulting in students’ lack of interest in grammar learning and low classroom participation. This teaching design selects Unit 1 from FLTRP senior English Book 2 as the design object, and aims to use the guided discovery method to explore its application and related teaching plan designs in English grammar class. In the end the author makes specific self-evaluation and teaching reflection, hoping to provide certain reference value for English grammar teaching in senior middle school.

Abstract:This paper is the third article of the application of the genre teaching method into the English writing.Based on Hasan's theory of Generic Structure Potential and Martin's theory of macrostructure,the paper elaborates on the two-term-long experimental progress of the college English teaching,including the theoretical foundation,designing progress,the results.The paper proves the adaptation of the generic structure potential to the college English writing under the Chinese context and points out its limitation,aiming at promoting the application of this theory in this area and enhancing students' ability of discourse analysis and English writing.

Abstract:As the law of language use, grammar guides the application and practice of language.A strong foundation in grammar improves reading and writing skills. Therefore, mastering grammar skillfully plays a positive and effective role in improving students’ language ability. However, the current English grammar teaching in senior high schools in China faces many problems. First of all, the necessity of grammar teaching has been ignored to some extent. Abstract:This paper,based on the results of an extensive study regarding the teaching of English for non-English major graduate students in China, raises some issues calling for attention and identifies some areas for research and reform.Efforts should be made in:(1)reforming the traditional knowledge- oriented teaching approach and stressing the development of the students'ability in language use; (2)advocating learner-centeredness and experiential learning and encouraging learner autonomy;(3) taking full advantage of the modern facilities for teaching and tapping the learner potential;(4) emphasizing quality education and improving the students'ability in logical thinking;(5)improving the quality of the teaching staff;and(6)properly handling the relationship between teaching and testing and introducing a scientific evaluation system.

Abstract:“Sprachspiel(Language Game)”, a language philosophical term proposed by Wittgenstein, indicates that the meaning of language is in the use of language in all kinds of language games. This concept helps to transfer our focus from abstract language analysis to practical language uses, which throws a light on college English teaching in China. Based on this language philosophical point of view, this paper intends to have some practices on speaking English teaching for non-English major graduates. Based on the analysis of the difficulties and problems of the target students’ English learning, this paper puts forward some tentative ways for speaking English teaching in large class. The experimental teaching of a whole school year proves that this new teaching mode enhances students’ interests in English and improves students’ studying method as well as their Speaking English level. From the survey result, it finds out that this paper also makes an analysis of the surveys conducted both at the very beginning and the end of the school year.

Stylistics understands the deep meaning through the surface language form, thus enhances the appropriateness of the language expression. Therefore, stylistics analysis method is an important means to reform the intensive reading course teaching and improve the teaching quality. This paper discusses the application of stylistics in college English teaching from the aspects of listening, speaking, reading and writing. It can develop students' ability to appreciate and distinguish languages and improve their logical thinking ability and finally improve students' reading comprehension ability. By introducing stylistic analysis theory into college English reading class, students can improve their understanding of articles from words to texts, and develop their ability of comprehensive processing texts.

The Integration of Traditional Chinese Culture into the English Grammar Course in Regular Higher Education: A Practical Case Study

Abstract:In the interconnected global society today, the significance of integrating traditional Chinese culture into English grammar education cannot be overstated, but it is often ignored in the practical teaching and theoretical research. Hence, this study aims to explore this integration in regular higher education to promote ideological and political education and their intercultural competence. Research questions include how traditional Chinese culture is practically integrated into the English grammar course in regular higher education and whether this integration is effectively achieved as well as what suggestions can be proposed for the future English grammar course and research. Considering this, a practical case study in the context of Xianda College of Economics and Humanities, Shanghai International Studies University in China is employed to address these questions. Twenty-nine first-year English majors, both females and males, voluntarily participate as research subjects. The specific research methods mainly involve a two-round questionnaire survey and a one-round interview. One of the conclusion is that traditional Chinese culture can be practically integrated into the English grammar course in regular education by the the strategy of “4-R”, namely “Revise Teaching Goals and Objectives, Refine Teaching Content, Revitalize Teaching Methods and Reform Teaching Evaluation”. This study focuses on adopting Chinese ancient poetry, Chinese opera, Chinese architecture, and Chinese festival customs as the main materials for traditional Chinese culture related to grammar points in this course. Moreover, based on the participants’ feedback from the second-round questionnaire survey and one-round interview, it is effectively carried out and attains the quality goals in the overall teaching syllabus to a large extent. Another conclusion is that some suggestions from students and the teacher are provided for the future English grammar course and relevant research.
