Abstract:In this paper, we study the semilinear wave equations with the inverse-square potential. By transferring the original equation to a "fractional dimensional" wave equation and analyzing the properties of its fundamental solution, we establish a long-time existence result, for sufficiently small, spherically symmetric initial data. Together with the previously known blow-up result, we determine the critical exponent which divides the global existence and finite time blow-up. Moreover, the sharp lower bounds of the lifespan are obtained, except for certain borderline case. In addition, our technology allows us to handle an extreme case for the potential, which has hardly been discussed in literature.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the existence of positive solutions for asymptotically periodic quasilinear Schrödinger equations. By using a Nehari-type constraint and Moser iteration, we get the existence results which is a complement to the ones in Chu and Liu [Nonlinear Anal. Real World Appl. 44(2018), 118–127]. Moreover, we consider a new reformative asymptotic processes of the potential function and the nonlinearity term is only locally defined.

With the help of Mountain Pass Theorem and critical level which is obtained by the sequence of Moser functions, we establish the existence of a positive solution for a small range of $\lambda$. Moreover, we also investigate the existence of a positive solution for a non-homogeneous problem for every $0\leq \lambda <\left(\frac{N-1}{N}\right)^N.$ To the best of our knowledge, the results obtained here are new even in case of $N$-Laplace equation with Hardy potential.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the following nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equation where is a small parameter, is the fractional Laplacian operator, is a general potential which may vanish at infinity and is a general nonlinear function including both critical and subcritical cases, which may not satisfy the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition and the monotonicity condition on . Under some weaker assumptions on and , we establish the existence of positive solutions for problem (1) concentrating at a local minimum of as . Furthermore, the decay estimates for the positive solutions depending on the decay rates of the potential are obtained. The proofs of our main results are much more complicated than those in [3,15,21,32] due to the double effects of decaying potentials and nonlinearities without the condition and the monotonicity condition on . Indeed, we establish a unified approach to deal with equation (1) in which the nonlinearity satisfies Berestycki-Lions type conditions and the potential is non-vanishing or vanishing at infinity.

Abstract:We study the long-time behavior of solutions to nonlinear Schroedinger equations with some critical rough potential of inverse square type. The new ingredients are the interaction Morawetz-type inequalities and Sobolev norm property associated with the Lapalacian with inverse square potential. We use such properties to obtain the scattering theory for the defocusing energy-subcritical nonlinear Schroedinger equation with inverse square potential in energy space.

Abstract:This research is undertaken with the primary objective of exploring a quasilinear Schr├Čdinger equation, a mathematical model of significant importance in describing diverse physical phenomena. Specifically, we direct our focus to the following equation: ŌłÆ╬öu+V(x)uŌłÆ[╬ö(1+u2)1/2]u2(1+u2)12=h(u),xŌłłRN, where NŌēź3 , V is a given positive potential and h represents a general nonlinearity. Employing an innovative perturbation technique and the method of invariant sets in the descending flow, we rigorously establish the existence and multiplicity of sign-changing solutions for the aforementioned problem. In particular, for pure power type nonlinearity h(u)=|u|pŌłÆ2u , we are concerned mostly with 2 .

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with the existence of solutions to the N-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation −ε2Δu+V(x)u=K(x)up with u(x)>0, u∈H1(RN), N⩾3 and 1<p<N+2N−2. When the potential V(x) decays at infinity faster than (1+|x|)−2 and K(x)⩾0 is permitted to be unbounded, we will show that the positive H1(RN)-solutions exist if it is assumed that G(x) has local minimum points for small ε>0, here G(x)=Vθ(x)K−2p−1(x) with θ=p+1p−1−N2 denotes the ground energy function which is introduced in [X. Wang, B. Zeng, On concentration of positive bound states of nonlinear Schrödinger equations with competing potential functions, SIAM J. Math. Anal. 28 (1997) 633–655]. In addition, when the potential V(x) decays to zero at most like (1+|x|)−α with 0<α⩽2, we also discuss the existence of positive H1(RN)-solutions for unbounded K(x). Abstract:In this paper, we focus on the existence and concentration of positive solutions to the following nonlinear Schrödinger equations with critical or subcritical exponents in $\Bbb R^2$: $-\varepsilon^2\triangle u_{\varepsilon}+V(x)u_{\varepsilon}=K(x) |u_{\varepsilon}|^{p-2}u_{\varepsilon}e^{\alpha_{0}|u_{\varepsilon}| ^{\gamma}},\ x\in\Bbb R^2; u_{\varepsilon}>0,\ u_{\varepsilon}\in H^1(\Bbb R^2),$ where $p>2$, $\alpha_{0}>0$, $V(x), K(x)>0$, $0<\gamma\le 2$, and $\varepsilon>0$ is a small constant. When the potential $V(x)$ decays at infinity like $(1+|x|)^{-\alpha}$ with $0<\alpha\le 2$ and $K(x)> 0$ is permitted to be unbounded under some necessary restrictions, we will show that at least one positive $H^1(\Bbb R^2)$-solution exists if it is assumed that the related ground energy function $G(\xi)$ of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation $ -\triangle u+V(\xi)u=K(\xi) |u|^{p-2}ue^{\alpha_{0}|u|^{\gamma}}$ has local minimum points. Meanwhile, the concentration property of $u_{\varepsilon}$ is also established as $\varepsilon$ tends to zero.

Abstract:A direct approach for the quasi-periodic wave solutions to the defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation is proposed based on the theta functions and Hirota's bilinear method. We transform the problem into a system of algebraic equations, which can be formulated into a least squares problem and then solved by using numerical iterative methods. A rigorous asymptotic analysis demonstrates that these solutions can be classified into two categories: quasi-periodic oscillatory waves and quasi-periodic dark solitons. Singular behaviors may arise in the former case. The numerical results obtained for both the ( 1 + 1 ) -dimensional and ( 2 + 1 ) -dimensional equations are consistent with the theoretical results. Additionaly, the system of algebraic equations can be further extended to address the Riemann–Schottky problem for hyperelliptic curves with 2 infinite points.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence and asymptotic behavior of ground state solutions for a class of Hamiltonian elliptic system with Hardy potential. The resulting problem engages three major difficulties: one is that the associated functional is strongly indefinite, the second difficulty we must overcome lies in verifying the link geometry and showing the boundedness of Cerami sequences when the nonlinearity is different from the usual global super-quadratic condition. The third difficulty is singular potential, which does not belong to the Kato's class. These enable us to develop a direct approach and new tricks to overcome the difficulties caused by singularity of potential and the dropping of classical super-quadratic assumption on the nonlinearity. Our approach is based on non-Nehari method which developed recently, we establish some new existence results of ground state solutions of Nehari-Pankov type under some mild conditions, and analyze asymptotical behavior of ground state solutions.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the class of quasilinear Schrödinger equations: 0.1 −Δu+V(x)u−Δ(1+u2)α2αu2(1+u2)(2−α)/2=h(x,u),x∈RN, which models the self‐channeling of a high‐power ultra short laser in matter provided α=1 , where N>2,V(x)∈C1(RN),α≥1 is a parameter, and h(x,u)∈C(RN×R) . Under some appropriate assumptions on h(x,u) , we establish the nonexistence of solutions for the above problem.

Abstract:We propose a new variational approach to find multiple critical points for strongly indefinite variational problems without assuming the weak upper semicontinuity on the variational functionals. By this approach, we obtain the existence of infinitely many geometrically distinct solutions for a stationary periodic Schrödinger equation, in which the linear part is strongly indefinite and the nonlinear term is allowed to change sign in general ways.

Abstract:Relevant physical phenomena are described by nonlinear Schrödinger equations with non-vanishing conditions at infinity. This paper investigates the respective 2D and 3D Cauchy problems. Local well-posedness in the energy space for energy-subcritical nonlinearities, merely satisfying Kato-type assumptions, is proven, providing the analogue of the well-established local $H^1$-theory for solutions vanishing at infinity. The critical nonlinearity will be simply a byproduct of our analysis and the existing literature. Under an assumption that prevents the onset of a Benjamin-Feir type instability, global well-posedness in the energy space is proven for a) non-negative Hamiltonians, b) sign-indefinite Hamiltonians under additional assumptions on the zeros of the nonlinearity, c) generic nonlinearities and small initial data. The cases b) and c) only concern 3D.
