Abstract:The goal of this article is to generalize the theory of Hopf-Ore extensions on Hopf algebras to multiplier Hopf algebras. First the concept of a Hopf-Ore extension of a multiplier Hopf algebra is introduced. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for Ore extensions to become a multiplier Hopf algebra. Finally, *-structures are constructed on Hopf-Ore extensions, and certain isomorphisms between Hopf-Ore extensions are discussed.

Abstract:0. In this short note, we derive some nonabelian localization formulas in a very simple way. The method is to use Witten’s idea of multiplying the integral by a Gaussian and then to complete square. The localization procedure we use is different from Witten’s in that we do not need the Bismut localizing factor e−tDλ as in [W], at the same time we avoid the use of Fourier transform in [JK]. Along the way we will also derive Martin’s formula which relates nonabelian symplectic reduction to the abelian case. The method is rather elementary and applicable to other situations which we hope to discuss on a later occasion. We remark that all of the basic results in this note, which grows out of my trying to understand this circle of ideas, are due to Jeffrey-Kirwan, Martin and Witten. Our sole contribution is pointing out a different way to derive them. Other quite different approaches to such type results have also been obtained by Guillemin-Kalkman [GK], Martin [M] and Vergne [V]. The interested reader may compare these different methods and formulas. I would like to thank A. Astashkevich, S. Martin especially S. Single sided multiplier Hopf algebras

Abstract:Let $A$ be a non-degenerate algebra over the complex numbers and $\Delta$ a homomorphism from $A$ to the multiplier algebra $M(A\otimes A)$. Consider the linear maps $T_1$ and $T_2$ from $A\otimes A$ to $M(A\otimes A)$ defined by \begin{equation*} T_1(a\otimes b)=\Delta(a)(1\otimes b) \qquad\text{and}\qquad T_2(c\otimes a)=(c\otimes 1)\Delta(a). \end{equation*} The pair $(A,\Delta)$ is a multiplier Hopf algebra if these two maps have range in $A\otimes A$ and are bijections from $A\otimes A$ to itself. In our recent paper on the Larson-Sweedler theorem, single sided multiplier Hopf algebras emerge in a natural way. For this case, instead of requiring the above for the maps $T_1$ and $T_2$, we now have this property for the maps $T_1$ and $T_4$ or for $T_2$ and $T_3$ where \begin{equation*} T_3(a\otimes b)=(1\otimes b)\Delta(a) \qquad\text{and}\qquad T_4(c\otimes a)=\Delta(a)(c\otimes 1). \end{equation*} As it turns out, also for these single sided multiplier Hopf algebras, the existence of a unique counit and antipode can be proven. In fact, rather surprisingly, using the properties of the antipode, one can actually show that for a single sided multiplier Hopf algebra all four canonical maps are bijections from $A\otimes A$ to itself. In other words, $(A,\Delta)$ is automatically a regular multiplier Hopf algebra. We take the advantage of this approach to reconsider some of the known results for a regular multiplier Hopf algebra.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to answer a question raised by Gennady Lyubeznik and Karen Smith. This question involves the finite generation of the following non-commutative algebra. Let $S$ be any commutative algebra of prime characteristic $p$. For any $S$-module $M$ and all $e\geq 0$ we let $\mathcal{F}^e(M)$ denote the set of all additive functions $\phi: M \to M$ with the property that $\phi(s m)=s^{p^e} \phi(m)$ for all $s\in S$ and $m\in M$. For all $e_1, e_2 \geq 0$, and $\phi_1\in \mathcal{F}^{e_1}(M)$, $\phi_2\in \mathcal{F}^{e_2}(M)$ the composition $\phi_2 \circ \phi_1$ is in $\mathcal{F}^{e_1+e_2}(M)$. Also, each $\mathcal{F}^{e}(M)$ is a module over $\mathcal{F}^{0}(M)=\Hom_{S}(M,M)$ via $\phi_0 \phi=\phi_0 \circ \phi$. We now define $\mathcal{F}(M)=\oplus_{e\geq 0} \mathcal{F}^e(M)$ and endow it with the structure of a $\Hom_{S}(M,M)$-algebra with multiplication given by composition. We construct an example of an Artinian module over a complete local ring $S$ for which $\mathcal{F}(M)$ is not a finitely generated $\Hom_{S}(M,M)$-algebra, thus giving a negative answer to the question raised by Lyubeznik and Smith.

Localized strict topologies on multiplier algebras of pro-$C^*$-algebras

Abstract:The bounded localization $\beta_b$ of a locally convex topology $\beta$ is defined as the finest locally convex topology agreeing with $\beta$ on all bounded sets. We show that the strict topology on the multiplier algebra of a bornological pro-$C^*$-algebras equals its own localization, generalizing the analogous result due to Taylor for multiplier algebras of plain $C^*$-algebras. We also (a) characterize the barreled commutative unital pro-$C^*$-algebras as those of continuous functions on functionally Hausdorff spaces whose relatively pseudocompact subsets are relatively compact, equipped with the topology of uniform convergence on compact subsets, and (b) describe a contravariant equivalence between the category of commutative unital pro-$C^*$-algebras and a category of Tychonoff (rather than functionally Hausdorff) topological spaces.

Abstract:Let A be a C_0(X)-algebra. Then the multiplier algebra M(A) is a C(Y)-algebra in a natural way, where Y is the Stone-Cech compactification of X. Each x in X gives rise to an ideal J_x of A and an ideal H_x of M(A). The ideal J_x is contained in H_x, and H_x is contained in the strict closure of J_x in M(A). This paper studies the problem of determining when H_x is equal to the strict closure of J_x. THis can be interpreted as a problem of spectral synthesis type.

Abstract:We define evaluation forms associated to objects in a module subcategory of Ext-symmetry generated by finitely many simple modules over a path algebra with relations and prove a multiplication formula for the product of two evaluation forms. It is analogous to a multiplication formula for the product of two evaluation forms associated to modules over a preprojective algebra given by Geiss, Leclerc and Schroer in \cite{GLS2006}.

Abstract:In this paper, we show that the multiplicative derivations on J(α) -axial algebras, with α≠1,0,12 , are additive under suitable conditions, which nowadays are called Martindale-type conditions. Besides, with proper assumptions, we proceed to study the additivity of multiplicative isomorphisms and derivations in the context of M(α,β) -axial algebras, except for multiplicative derivations when β=12 . In this case, we mention a research question at the end.

The lifting property for $C^*$-algebras : from local to global ?

Abstract:This note is motivated by Kirchberg's conjecture that the local lifting property (LLP) implies the lifting property (LP) for $C^*$-algebras. The author recently constructed by a "local" method an example of $C^*$-algebra with the LLP and the weak expectation property (WEP) which might be a counterexample. We give here several equivalent conditions all equivalent to the validity of the implication LLP $\Rightarrow$ LP for WEP $C^*$-algebras, or equivalently for quotients of WEP $C^*$-algebras (QWEP), that hopefully clarify the nature of the problem. But unfortunately we cannot decide whether they hold true. These conditions highlight the notion of "controlable" finite dimensional (f.d.) operator space, in connection with certain $C^*$-tensor products. The latter led us to a closely related variant of local reflexivity.

Reflections on the Larson-Sweedler theorem for (weak) multiplier Hopf algebras

Abstract:Let $A$ be an algebra with identity and $\Delta:A\to A\otimes A$ a coproduct that admits a counit. If there exist a faithful left integral and a faithful right integral, one can construct an antipode and $(A,\Delta)$ is a Hopf algebra. This is the Larson-Sweedler theorem. There are generalizations of this result for multiplier Hopf algebras, weak Hopf algebras and weak multiplier Hopf algebras. In the case of a multiplier Hopf algebra, the existence of a counit can be weakened and can be replaced by the requirement that the coproduct is full. A similar result is true for weak multiplier Hopf algebras. What we show in this note is that in fact the result for multiplier Hopf algebras can still be obtained without the condition of fullness of the coproduct. As it turns out, this property will already follow from the other conditions. Consequently, also in the original theorem for Hopf algebras, the existence of a counit is a consequence of the other conditions. This slightly generalizes the original result. The situation for weak multiplier Hopf algebras seems to be more subtle. We discuss the problems and see what is still possible here. We consider these results in connection with the development of the theory of locally compact quantum groups. This is discussed in an appendix.

Abstract:In this article, we attempt to introduce the "Multiplier algebra" associated to the Fock representation that arising from the left-cancellative semigroup $\mathcal{S}$ (denoted by $M(\mathcal{S})$) by adopting the concept of multiplier algebra of a $C^*$-algebra. Then, we investigate the basic properties and examples of the multiplier algebras. In order to make sense of multiplier algebra, we establish two key results of the multiplier algebras. We demonstrate that $M(\mathcal{S})$ is an unital Banach algebra if $\mathcal{S}$ is a left-cancellative semigroup. In the consideration, $G$ is a group, we demonstrate that $M(G)$ is a $C^*$-algebra. We illustrate that the associated multiplier algebras $M(\mathbb{Z}_{+}), M(\mathbb{Z}^2_+)$ are identified with respective Hardy algebras $H^{\infty}(\mathbb{D})$ and $H^{\infty}(\mathbb{D}^2)$ for $\mathcal{S}=\mathbb{Z}_{+}, \mathbb{Z}^2_{+}.$ Next, we discuss that multiplier algebra associated to the free semigroup $\mathcal{S}=\mathbb{F}^+_{n}$. We clearly show that the well-known non-commutative Hardy algebra $\mathbb{F}_{n}^{\infty}$ (introduced and thoroughly studied by G. Popescu) and the multiplier algebra $M(\mathbb{F}_{n}^+)$ are isometrically isomorphic. Finally, using the operator space technique, we have demonstrated an intriguing result that $M(\mathcal{S})$ is an operator algebra (specifically, thanks to celebrated Blecher-Ruan-Sinclair theorem).

On the construction of Cohn's universal localization

Abstract:For an associative ring we investigate a construction of Cohn's universal ring of fractions defined relative to a multiplicative set of matrices. The construction avoids the Ore condition, which is necessary to construct a ring of fractions relative to a multiplicative set of elements. But a similar condition, which we call the ``pseudo-Ore'' condition, plays an important role in the construction of Cohn's localization. We show that this condition in fact determines the equivalence relation used in the construction.

Abstract:The Archimedean property is one of the most beautiful axioms of the classical arithmetic and some of the methods of constructing the field of real numbers are based on this property. It is well-known that every Archimedean `-group is abelian and every pseudo-MV algebra is commutative. The aim of this paper is to introduce the Archimedean property for pseudo-MTL algebras and FLw-algebras. The main results consit of proving that there exist non-commutative Archimedean FLw-algebras. We also prove that any locally finite FLw-algebra is Archimedean.

Abstract:Let $A$ be a unital AH-algebra and let $\alpha\in Aut(A)$ be an automorphism. A necessary condition for $A\rtimes_{\alpha}\Z$ being embedded into a unital simple AF-algebra is the existence of a faithful tracial state. If in addition, there is an automorphism $\kappa$ with $\kappa_{*1}=-{\rm id}_{K_1(A)}$ such that $\alpha\circ \kappa$ and $\kappa\circ \af$ are asymptotically unitarily equivalent, then $A\rtimes_{\af}\Z$ can be embedded into a unital simple AF-algebra. Consequently, in the case that $A$ is a unital AH-algebra (not necessarily simple) with torsion $K_1(A),$ $A\rtimes_{\alpha}\Z$ can be embedded into a unital simple AF-algebra if and only if $A$ admits a faithful $\alpha$-invariant tracial state. We also show that if $A$ is a unital A$\T$-algebra then $A\rtimes_{\alpha}\Z$ can be embedded into a unital simple AF-algebra if and only if $A$ admits a faithful $\af$-invariant tracial state. If $X$ is a compact metric space and $\Lambda: \Z^2\to Aut(C(X))$ is a \hm then $C(X)\rtimes_{\Lambda}\Z^2$ can be asymptotically embedded into a unital simple AF-algebra provided that $X$ admits a strictly positive $\Lambda$-invariant probability measure. Consequently $C(X)\rtimes_{\Lambda}\Z^2$ is quasidiagonal if $X$ admits a strictly positive $\Lambda$-invariant Borel probability measure.

Abstract:We introduce and study locally AW*-algebras (Baer locally C*-algebras) as a locally multiplicatively-convex generalization of AW*-algebras of Kaplansky.
