Abstract:We describe an algorithm to find the virtual cohomological dimension of the automorphism group of a right-angled Artin group. The algorithm works in the relative setting; in particular it also applies to untwisted automorphism groups and basis-conjugating automorphism groups. The main new tool is the construction of free abelian subgroups of certain Fouxe-Rabinovitch groups of rank equal to their virtual cohomological dimension, generalizing a result of Meucci in the setting of free groups.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the subdivision map between two KLRW algebras of type $A^{(1)}_e$ and $A^{(1)}_{e+1}$. We show that the image of an idempotent indexed by a partition under this map is still an idempotent indexed by a partition, and give the form of this new partition. Moreover, we give an equality of some graded decomposition numbers.

Commutative rings behind divisible residuated lattices

Abstract:Divisible residuated lattices are algebraic structures corresponding to a more comprehensive logic than Hajek's basic logic with an important significance in the study of fuzzy logic. The purpose of this paper is to investigate commutative rings whose the lattice of ideals can be equipped with a structure of divisible residuated lattice. We show that these rings are multiplication rings. A characterization, more examples and their connections to other classes of rings are established. Furthermore, we analyze the structure of divisible residuated lattices using finite commutative rings. From computational considerations, we present an explicit construction of isomorphism classes of divisible residuated lattices (that are not BL-algebras) of small size n $(2 \le n \le 6)$ and we give summarizing statistics.

Abstract:We answer the question asked by Louder, McReynolds and Patel, and prove the following statement. Let L be a RAAG, H a word quasiconvex subgroup of L, then there is a finite dimensional representation of L that separates the subgroup H in the induced Zariski topology. As a corollary, we establish a polynomial upper bound on the size of the quotients used to separate H in L. This implies the same statement for a virtually special group L and, in particular, a fundamental groups of a hyperbolic 3-manifold.

On the automorphisms of the Drinfeld modular groups

Abstract:Let $A$ be the ring of elements in an algebraic function field $K$ over $\mathbb{F}_q$ which are integral outside a fixed place $\infty$. In contrast to the classical modular group $SL_2(\mathbb{Z})$ and the Bianchi groups, the {\it Drinfeld modular group} $G=GL_2(A)$ is not finitely generated and its automorphism group $\mathrm{Aut}(G)$ is uncountable. Except for the simplest case $A=\mathbb{F}_q[t]$ not much is known about the generators of $\mathrm{Aut}(G)$ or even its structure. We find a set of generators of $\mathrm{Aut}(G)$ for a new case. \par On the way, we show that {\it every} automorphism of $G$ acts on both, the {\it cusps} and the {\it elliptic points} of $G$. Generalizing a result of Reiner for $A=\mathbb{F}_q[t]$ we describe for each cusp an uncountable subgroup of $\mathrm{Aut}(G)$ whose action on $G$ is essentially defined on the stabilizer of that cusp. In the case where $\delta$ (the degree of $\infty$) is $1$, the elliptic points are related to the isolated vertices of the quotient graph $G\setminus\mathcal{T}$ of the Bruhat-Tits tree. We construct an infinite group of automorphisms of $G$ which fully permutes the isolated vertices with cyclic stabilizer.

Decomposing Finite $\mathbb{Z}$-Algebras

Abstract:For a finite $\mathbb{Z}$-algebra $R$, i.e., for a ring which is not necessarily associative or unitary, but whose additive group is finitely generated, we construct a decomposition of $R/{\rm Ann}(R)$ into directly indecomposable factors under weak hypotheses. The method is based on constructing and decomposing a ring of scalars $S$, and then lifting the decomposition of $S$ to the bilinear map given by the multiplication of $R$, and finally to $R/{\rm Ann}(R)$. All steps of the construction are given as explicit algorithms and it is shown that the entire procedure has a probabilistic polynomial time complexity in the bit size of the input, except for the possible need to calculate the prime factorization of one integer. In particular, in the case when ${\rm Ann}(R) = 0$, these algorithms compute a direct decomposition of $R$ into directly indecomposable factors.

Abstract:We show that the relative Farrell-Jones assembly map from the family of finite subgroups to the family of virtually cyclic subgroups for algebraic K-theory is split injective in the setting where the coefficients are additive categories with group action. This generalizes a result of Bartels for rings as coefficients. We give an explicit description of the relative term. This enables us to show that it vanishes rationally if we take coefficients in a regular ring. Moreover, it is, considered as a Z[Z/2]-module by the involution coming from taking dual modules, an extended module and in particular all its Tate cohomology groups vanish, provided that the infinite virtually cyclic subgroups of type I of G are orientable. The latter condition is for instance satisfied for torsionfree hyperbolic groups.

Abstract:We prove that cyclic subgroup separability is preserved under exponential completion for groups that belong to a class that includes all coherent RAAGs and toral relatively hyperbolic groups; we do so by exploiting the structure of these completions as iterated free products with commuting subgroups. From this we deduce that the cyclic subgroups of limit groups over coherent RAAGs are separable, answering a question of Casals-Ruiz, Duncan and Kazachov. We also discuss relations between free products with commuting subgroups and the word problem, and recover the fact that limit groups over coherent RAAGs and toral relatively hyperbolic groups have a solvable word problem.

Abstract:We identify the rigid dualizing complex of the (generic) affine Hecke algebra $H_q$ attached to a reduced root system and deduce some structural properties as a consequence. For example, we show that the classical Hecke algebra $H_{q^\pm}$ as well as $H_q/q$ are, under a certain condition on the root system, Frobenius over their centers with Nakayama automorphism given by an explicit involution.

Abstract:Let $\rho$ be an algebraic action of the additive group $\mathbb{C}^+$ on the three-dimensional affine space $\mathbb{C}^3$. We describe the group $\textrm{Cent}(\rho)$ of polynomial automorphisms of $\mathbb{C}^3$ that commute with $\rho$. A particular emphasis lies in the description of the automorphisms in $\textrm{Cent}(\rho)$ coming from algebraic $\mathbb{C}^+$-actions. As an application we prove that the automorphisms in $\textrm{Cent}(\rho)$ that are the identity on the algebraic quotient of $\rho$ form a characteristic subgroup of $\textrm{Cent}(\rho)$.

Abstract:We study representations of the pure symmetric automorphism group $PAut(A_\Gamma)$ of a RAAG $A_\Gamma$ with defining graph $\Gamma$. We first construct a homomorphism from $PAut(A_\Gamma)$ to the direct product of a RAAG and a finite direct product of copies of $F_2 \times F_2$; moreover, the image of $PAut(A_\Gamma)$ under this homomorphism is surjective onto each factor. As a consequence, we obtain interesting actions of $PAut(A_\Gamma)$ on non-positively curved spaces We then exhibit, for connected $\Gamma$, a RAAG which property contains $Inn(A_\Gamma)$ and embeds as a normal subgroup of $PAut(A_\Gamma)$. We end with a discussion of the linearity problem for $PAut(A_\Gamma)$.

Abstract:In order to define the complex exceptional Lie groups $ {F_4}^C, {E_6}^C, {E_7}^C, {E_8}^C $ and these compact real forms $ F_4,E_6,E_7,E_8 $, we usually use the Cayley algebra $ \mathfrak{C} $. In the present article, we consider replacing the Cayley algebra $ \mathfrak{C} $ with the field of real numbers $\mathbb R$ in the definition of the groups above, and these groups are denoted as in title above. Abstract:Let $F$ be an affine flat group scheme over a commutative ring $R$, and $S$ an $F$-algebra (an $R$-algebra on which $F$ acts). We define an equivariant analogue $Q_F(S)$ of the total ring of fractions $Q(S)$ of $S$. It is the largest $F$-algebra $T$ such that $S\subset T\subset Q(S)$, and $S$ is an $F$-subalgebra of $T$. We study some basic properties. Utilizing this machinery, we give some new criteria for factoriality (UFD property) of (semi-)invariant subrings under the action of algebraic groups, generalizing a result of Popov. We also prove some variations of classical results on factoriality of (semi-)invariant subrings. Some results over an algebraically closed base field are generalized to those over an arbitrary base field.

Abstract:We show how any finite-dimensional algebra can be realized as an idempotent subquotient of some symmetric quasi-hereditary algebra. In the special case of rigid symmetric algebras we show that they can be realized as centralizer subalgebras of symmetric quasi-hereditary algebras. We also show that the infinite-dimensional symmetric quasi-hereditary algebras we construct admit quasi-hereditary structure with respect to two opposite orders, that they have strong exact Borel and $\Delta$-subalgebras and the corresponding triangular decompositions.
