The Investigation of Anxiety and Depression in Patients with Gynecologic Malignant Tumors

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the anxiety and depression of patients with gynecologic malignant tumors.Methods: One hundred and eight patients with gynecologic malignant tumors(tumor group) and 140 patients with benign gynecologic diseases(benign group) were recruited for this study.Patients in the tumor group were further divided into 55 year above sub-group(n=65) and 55 year younger sub-group(n=43);low-educated sub-group(n=68) and well-educated sub-group(n=40) according to the educational background;6 months sub-group(n=45) and ≥6 months sub-group(n=63) according to the duration post operation.Self-rating depression scale(SDS) and self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) were employed to assess the anxiety and depression in the patients.Date of different groups and sub-groups were collected and compared.Results: The incidence rate of anxiety and depression,the scores of SDS and SAS in the tumor group were significantly higher than those in the benign group(P0.01).The younger patients with higher education had higher scores of SDS and SAS(P0.05).Patients with longer duration post operation had higher scores of SDS(P0.05).Conclusion: Patients with gynecologic malignant tumors had a high incidence rate of anxiety and depression.The severity of psychic symptoms had a certain relationship with the level of education,age and duration post operation.
