Abstract:To the Editor: PRAME (PReferentially expressed Antigen in MElanoma) immunohistochemistry (IHC) is useful for diagnosis of equivocal melanomas in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue. Reports of margin assessment using PRAME in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections are emerging, but its utility in frozen sections during Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) is unclear. 1 We present a PRAME IHC protocol for use on frozen tissue during MMS and early findings from our retrospective study comparing PRAME with MART-1 (melanoma antigen recognized by T cells) and MiTF (microphthalmia-associated transcription factor).
