Abstract:In this work, we synthesized flexible electrodes for supercapacitors manufactured by slurry-based spin-coated betel nut nanocellulose (BNNC) and polyaniline (PANI) composite system after uniformly depositing PANI on the surface of BNNC utilizing a one-step in situ polymerization procedure. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to disclose the uniform deposition of emeraldine salt (ES) from PANI on the BNNC surface and the characteristics of betel nut nanofibers. The thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses of the crystallinity and thermal stability of BNNC and PANI/BNNC composites. Using a multimeter (Keithley Model 2000), the PANI/BNNC composites demonstrated exceptional electrical conductivity as high as 1.93 × 10 −2 S cm −1 . A high specific capacitance of 402.02 Fg −1 was achieved at 0.1 Ag −1 for the synthesized PANI/BNNC nanocomposite electrode. Furthermore, the redox repeatability and cycle stability of the PANI/BNNC nanocomposite electrode are outstanding. There may be promising uses for the flexible, affordable, environmentally friendly, and lightweight electrode in supercapacitors.
