Abstract:The effects of sugar overfeeding on the gut-brain axis in vivo require further investigation. Here, Lorch et al. report a liquid sucrose diet in mice that selectively desensitizes hypothalamic hunger neurons to ingested glucose and promotes consumption of palatable food over more nutritious options.
