Pragmatic Translation of Cultural-loaded Words——Sample Evaluation on Six Chapters of A Floating Life Translated by Lin Yutang

Abstract:The literature works contain abundant cultural-loaded words,the translation of which is very important and difficult.Pragmatic translation tends to achieve equivalent effect from the perspectives of pragmalinguistic equivalence and sociolinguistic equivalence,which provides a new method to the translation of cultural-loaded words.This paper explores the translation of cultural-loaded words from the perspective of pragmatic evaluation by taking Lin Yutang's Six Chapters of A Floating Life as a sample.
