A Comparative Study of Cultural Connotation between Chinese Plant Words and their English Counterparts

Abstract:This paper analyzes the relationship between language and culture,the origin of cultural connotation of words,and compares the cultural connotation of some Chinese plant words and their English Counterparts.It aims to show that the differences between some Chinese plant words and their English counterparts result from the differences between Chinese and western countries' cultures,and that they affect the understanding and communication in intercultural communication.
