Abstract:We introduce generalised triple homomorphism between Jordan Banach triple systems as a concept which extends the notion of generalised homomorphism between Banach algebras given by Jarosz and Johnson in 1985 and 1987, respectively. We prove that every generalised triple homomorphism between JB$^*$-triples is automatically continuous. When particularised to C$^*$-algebras, we rediscover one of the main theorems established by Johnson. We shall also consider generalised triple derivations from a Jordan Banach triple $E$ into a Jordan Banach triple $E$-module, proving that every generalised triple derivation from a JB$^*$-triple $E$ into $E^*$ is automatically continuous.

Abstract:Let $a$ and $b$ be elements in the closed ball of a unital C$^*$-algebra $A$ (if $A$ is not unital we consider its natural unitization). We shall say that $a$ and $b$ are domain (respectively, range) absolutely compatible ($a\triangle_d b$, respectively, $a\triangle_r b$, in short) if $\Big| |a| -|b| \Big| + \Big| 1-|a|-|b| \Big| =1$ (resp., $\Big| |a^*| -|b^*| \Big| + \Big| 1-|a^*|-|b^*| \Big| =1$), where $|a|^2= a^* a$. We shall say that $a$ and $b$ are absolutely compatible ($a\triangle b$ in short) if they are both range and domain absolutely compatible. In general, $a\triangle_d b$ (respectively, $a\triangle_r b$ and $a\triangle b$) is strictly weaker than $ab^*=0 $ (respectively, $a^* b =0$ and $a\perp b$). Let $T: A\to B$ be a contractive linear mapping between C$^*$-algebras. We prove that if $T$ preserves domain absolutely compatible elements (i.e., $a\triangle_d b\Rightarrow T(a)\triangle_d T(b)$) then $T$ is a triple homomorphism. A similar statement is proved when $T$ preserves range absolutely compatible elements. It is finally shown that $T$ is a triple homomorphism if, and only if, $T$ preserves absolutely compatible elements.

Abstract: We invent a new cohomology theory for Lie triple algebras. Using this cohomology, we introduce the notions of 2-term $L_\infty$-triple algebras and Lie triple 2-algebras. We prove that the category of 2-term $L_\infty$-triple algebras is equivalent to the category of Lie triple 2-algebras. Crossed modules of Lie triple algebras are studied in detail.

Abstract:In this note, we present a new way to associate a spectral triple to the noncommutative $C^*$-algebra $C^*(\Lambda)$ of a strongly connected finite higher-rank graph $\Lambda$. We generalize a spectral triple of Consani and Marcolli from Cuntz-Krieger algebras to higher-rank graph $C^*$-algebras $C^*(\Lambda)$, and we prove that these spectral triples are intimately connected to the wavelet decomposition of the infinite path space of $\Lambda$ which was introduced by Farsi, Gillaspy, Kang, and Packer in 2015. In particular, we prove that the wavelet decomposition of Farsi et al. describes the eigenspaces of the Dirac operator of this spectral triple.

Abstract:We introduce $n$-orthogonality (and completely orthogonality) preserving operators between C$^*$-algebras. Our main theorem states that every completely orthogonality preserving bounded linear mapping between C$^*$-algebras is a weighted TRO homomorphism. We also give several characterisations of TRO homomorphisms among triple homomorphisms.

Abstract:This paper introduces the concepts of cylinder coalgebras and cylinder coproducts for quasitriangular bialgebras,and points out that there exists an anti-coaigebra isomorphism (H,■)■(H,■),where (H,■) is the cylinder coproduct,and (H,■) is the braided coproduct given by Kass.For any finite dimensional Hopf algebra H,the Drinfel'd double (D(H),■D(H)) is proved to be the cylinder coproduct.Let (H,H,R) be copaired Hopf algebras.If R∈Z(H■ H) with inverse R~(-1) and skew inverse ■,then the twisted coalgebra (H■)~(R~(-1)) is constructed via twice twists,whose comultiplication is exactly the cylinder coproduct.Moreover,for any generalized Long dimodule,some solutions for Yang-Baxter equations,four braid pairs and Long equations are constructed via cylinder twists.
Jordan norms for multilinear maps on C*-algebras and Grothendieck's inequalities

Abstract:There exists a generalization of the concept, completely bounded norm for multilinear maps on C*-algebras. We will use the word, Jordan norm, for this norm. The Jordan norm of a multilinear map is obtained via factorizations of the map, such that bounded operators and Jordan homomorphisms form a long product, as in the case of a completely bounded multilinear map. We show that any bounded bilinear form on a pair of C*-algebras is Jordan bounded and its Jordan norm is at most twice the norm.

Abstract:The aim of our paper is to prove the Triple Representation Theorem, which was established by Jenc ˇa in the setting of complete lattice effect algebras, for a special class of homogeneous effect algebras, namely TRT-effect algebras. This class includes complete lattice effect algebras, sharply dominating Archimedean atomic lattice effect algebras and homogeneous orthocomplete effect algebras.

Abstract:Let $f: S(E) \to S(B)$ be a surjective isometry between the unit spheres of two weakly compact JB$^*$-triples not containing direct summands of rank smaller than or equal to 3. Suppose $E$ has rank greater than or equal to 5. Applying techniques developed in JB$^*$-triple theory, we prove that $f$ admits an extension to a surjective real linear isometry $T: E\to B$. Among the consequences, we show that every surjective isometry between the unit spheres of two compact C$^*$-algebras $A$ and $B$ (and in particular when $A=K(H)$ and $B=K(H')$) extends to a surjective real linear isometry from $A$ into $B$. These results provide new examples of infinite dimensional Banach spaces where Tingley's problem admits a positive answer.

Abstract:Given two unital C*-algebras $A$ and $B$, we study, when it exists, the universal unital $C^*$-algebra $\mathcal{U}(A,B)$ generated by the coefficients of a unital $*$-homomorphism $\rho\,:\, A\rightarrow B\otimes\mathcal{U}(A,B)$. When $B$ is finite dimensional, it is well known that $\mathcal{U}(A,B)$ exists and we study in this case properties LP, RFD, primitiveness and the UCT as well as $K$-theory. We also construct a reduced version of $\mathcal{U}(A,B)$ for which we study exactness, nuclearity, simplicity, absence of non-trivial projection and $K$-theory. Then, we consider the von Neumann algebra generated by the reduced version and study factoriality, amenability, fullness, primeness, absence of Cartan, Connes' invariants, Haagerup property and Connes' embeddability. Next, we consider the case when $B$ is infinite dimensional: we show that for any non-trivial separable unital $C^*$-algebra $A$, $\mathcal{U}(A,B)$ exists if and only if $B$ is finite dimensional. Nevertheless, we show that there exists a unique unital locally $C^*$-algebra generated by the coefficients of a unital continuous $*$-homomorphism $\rho\,:\, A\rightarrow B\otimes\mathcal{U}(A,B)$. Finally, we study a natural quantum semigroup structure on $\mathcal{U}(A,A)$.

Abstract:We prove new results on generalized derivations on C$^*$-algebras. By considering the triple product $\{a,b,c\} =2^{-1} (a b^* c + c b^* a)$, we introduce the study of linear maps which are triple derivations or triple homomorphisms at a point. We prove that a continuous linear $T$ map on a unital C$^*$-algebra is a generalized derivation whenever it is a triple derivation at the unit element. If we additionally assume $T(1)=0,$ then $T$ is a $^*$-derivation and a triple derivation. Furthermore, a continuous linear map on a unital C$^*$-algebra which is a triple derivation at the unit element is a triple derivation. Similar conclusions are obtained for continuous linear maps which are derivations or triple derivations at zero. We also give an automatic continuity result, that is, we show that generalized derivations on a von Neumann algebra and linear maps on a von Neumann algebra which are derivations or triple derivations at zero are all continuous even if not assumed a priori to be so.

Abstract:We study new classes of linear preservers between C$^*$-algebras and JB$^*$-triples. Let $E$ and $F$ be JB$^*$-triples with $\partial_{e} (E_1)$. We prove that every linear map $T:E\to F$ strongly preserving Brown-Pedersen quasi-invertible elements is a triple homomorphism. Among the consequences, we establish that, given two unital C$^*$-algebras $A$ and $B,$ for each linear map $T$ strongly preserving Brown-Pedersen quasi-invertible elements, then there exists a Jordan $^*$-homomorphism $S: A\to B$ satisfying $T(x) = T(1) S(x)$, for every $x\in A$. We also study the connections between linear maps strongly preserving Brown-Pedersen quasi-invertibility and other clases of linear preservers between C$^*$-algebras like Bergmann-zero pairs preservers, Brown-Pedersen quasi-invertibility preservers and extreme points preservers.
New tensor products of C*-algebras and characterization of type I C*-algebras as rigidly symmetric C*-algebras

Abstract:We construct several new classes of bifunctors $(A,B)\mapsto A\otimes_{\alpha} B$, where $A\otimes_\alpha B$ is a cross norm completion of $A\odot B$ for each pair of C*-algebras $A$ and $B$. For the first class of bifunctors considered $(A,B)\mapsto A\otimes_p B$ ($1\leq p\leq\infty$), $A\otimes_p B$ is a Banach algebra cross-norm completion of $A\odot B$ constructed in a fashion similar to $p$-pseudofunctions of a locally compact group. We also consider $\otimes_{p,q}$ for Hölder conjugate $p,q\in [1,\infty]$ -- a Banach $*$-algebra analogue of the tensor product $\otimes_p$. By taking enveloping C*-algebras of $A\otimes_{p,q} B$, we arrive at a third bifunctor $(A,B)\mapsto A\otimes_{\mathrm C^*_{p,q}} B$ where the resulting algebra $A\otimes_{\mathrm C^*_{p,q}} B$ is a C*-algebra. For groups belonging to a large class of non-amenable discrete groups possessing both the rapid decay and Haagerup property, we show that the tensor products $\mathrm C^*_{\mathrm r}(G_1)\otimes_{\mathrm C^*_{p,q}}\mathrm C^*_{\mathrm r}(G_2)$ coincide with a Brown-Guentner type C*-completion of $\mathrm \ell^1(G_1\times G_2)$ and conclude that if $2\leq p'<p\leq\infty$, then the canonical quotient map $\mathrm C^*_{\mathrm r}(G)\otimes_{\mathrm C^*_{p,q}}\mathrm C^*_{\mathrm r}(G)\to \mathrm C^*_{\mathrm r}(G)\otimes_{\mathrm C^*_{p',q'}}\mathrm C^*_{\mathrm r}(G)$ is not injective. A Banach $*$-algebra $A$ is \emph{rigidly symmetric} if $A\otimes_{\gamma} B$ is symmetric for every C*-algebra $B$. A theorem of Kugler asserts that every type I C*-algebra is rigidly symmetric. Leveraging our new constructions, we establish the converse of Kugler's theorem by showing for C*-algebras $A$ and $B$ that $A\otimes_{\gamma}B$ is symmetric if and only if $A$ or $B$ is type I.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider compatible Hom-Lie triple systems. Compatible Hom-Lie triple systems are characterized as Maurer-Cartan elements in a suitable bidifferential graded Lie algebra. We also define a cohomology theory for compatible Hom-Lie triple systems. As applications of cohomology, we study abelian extensions and deformations of compatible Hom-Lie triple systems.

Abstract:In this paper, we recall the notion of BiHom-generalization of Jordan superalgebras called BiHom-Jordan superalgebras in which, we investigate their representation and associated dual representation theory. We also introduce the notion of homogeneous O-operators of BiHom-Jordan superalgebra associated to a given representation. Additionnaly we define the BiHom-pre-Jordan superalgebras structures, in which we study the relationship between BiHom-pre-Jordan superalgebras and BiHom-Jordan superalgebras via a homogeneous O-operators. Some other related results are considered.

Abstract:We study the relationship between cyclic homology of Jordan superalgebras and second cohomologies of their Tits-Kantor-Koecher Lie superalgebras. In particular, we focus on Jordan superalgebras that are Kantor doubles of bracket algebras. The obtained results are applied to computation of second cohomologies and universal central extensions of Hamiltonian and contact type Lie superalgebras over arbitrary rings of coefficients.

Abstract:In this paper, first we give the controlling algebra of Lie triple systems. In particular, the cohomology of Lie triple systems can be characterized by the controlling algebra. Then using controlling algebras, we introduce the notions of homotopy Nambu algebras and homotopy Lie triple systems. We show that 2-term homotopy Lie triple systems is equivalent to Lie triple 2-systems, and the latter is the categorification of a Lie triple system. Finally we study skeletal and strict Lie triple 2-systems. We show that skeletal Lie triple 2-systems can be classified the third cohomology group, and strict Lie triple 2-systems are equivalent to crossed modules of Lie triple systems.

Abstract:We construct algebras from rhombohedral tilings of Euclidean space obtained as projections of certain cubical complexes. We show that these ‘Cubist algebras’ satisfy strong homological properties, such as Koszulity and quasi-heredity, reflecting the combinatorics of the tilings. We construct derived equivalences between Cubist algebras associated to local mutations in tilings. We recover as a special case the Rhombal algebras of Michael Peach and make a precise connection to weight 2 blocks of symmetric groups.
