Abstract:With the explosion of the mobile communication market, more and more handheld devices act as clients in the Internet. People use these devices to purchase books, play games, receive emails, etc. For protecting privacies, such applications should integrate digital signature schemes. Since handheld devices have poor computational capabilities and limited battery life, traditional computation intensive digital signature protocols that are based on asymmetric cryptographic algorithms are not suitable for mobile devices. In this paper we propose a Server Based Signature (SBS) scheme for mobile devices. Besides achieving the same security level of the traditional digital signature protocols, the SBS scheme also: 1) reduces the computation complexity on the mobile devices; 2) reduces the communication consumption between signer and verifier Application results show that our scheme is very useful for mobile communication systems.

Abstract:Digital signature is one of the basic primitives in cryptography. A common paradigm of obtaining signatures, known as the Fiat-Shamir (FS) paradigm, is to collapse any Σ-protocol (which is 3-round public-coin honest-verifier zero-knowledge) into a non-interactive scheme with hash functions that are modeled to be random oracles (RO). The Digital Signature Standard (DSS) and Schnorr’s signature schemes are two salient examples following the FS-paradigm. In this work, we present a modified Fiat-Shamir paradigm, named challenge-divided Fiat-Shamir paradigm, which is applicable to a variant of Σ-protocol with divided random challenges. This new paradigm yields a new family of (online/offline efficient) digital signatures from challenge-divided Σ-protocols, including in particular a variant of Schnorr’s signature scheme called challenge-divided Schnorr signature. We then present a formal analysis of the challenge-divided Schnorr signature in the random oracle model. Finally, we give comparisons between the challenge-divided Schnorr signature and DSS and Schnorr’s signature, showing that the newly developed challenge-divided Schnorr signature can enjoy better (online/offline) efficiency (besides provable security in the random oracle model). Of independent interest is a new forking lemma, referred to as divided forking lemma, for dealing with multiple ordered rewinding points in the RO model, which is of independent interest and can be applied to analyzing other cryptographic schemes in the RO model.

Abstract:Digital signature is fundamental to information security. Today many signature schemes based on discrete logarithm problem (DLP), including Schnorr, DSA and their variants, have been standardized and widely used. In this work, we review and make a comparative study on the DLP-based schemes included in some standard documents such as ISO/IEC 14888-3 and ISO-11889. We find some disadvantages of these standardized schemes in efficiency, security and usage, which shows that further improvement on digital signatures is still possible.In this work, we present a new G-protocol (an extension of Sigma-protocol), and transform this protocol into a concrete signature scheme (referred to as EC-CDSA) based on elliptic curve groups. We show that our EC-CDSA scheme combines, in essence, the advantages of the current standardized signature schemes based on DLP, while saving from or alleviating the disadvantages of them all.

Abstract:Today, all types of digital signature schemes emphasis on secure and best verification methods. Different digital signature schemes are used in order for the websites, security organizations, banks and so on to verify user's validity. Digital signature schemes are categorized to several types such as proxy, on-time, batch and so on. In this paper, different types of schemes are compared based on security level, efficiency, difficulty of algorithm and so on. Results show that best scheme depends on security, complexity and other important parameters. We tried simply to define the schemes and review them in practice.

Abstract:In this paper, a new contract signing protocol is proposed based on the RSA signature scheme. The protocol will allow two parties to sign the same contract and then exchange their digital signatures. The protocol ensures fairness in that it offers parties greater security: either both parties receive each other's signatures or neither does. The protocol is based on offline Trusted Third Party (TTP) that will be brought into play only if one party fails to sign the contract. Otherwise, the TTP remains inactive. The protocol consists of only three messages that are exchanged between the two parties.

Abstract:A new digital signature based only on a conventional encryption function (such as DES) is described which is as secure as the underlying encryption function -- the security does not depend on the difficulty of factoring and the high computational costs of modular arithmetic are avoided. The signature system can sign an unlimited number of messages, and the signature size increases logarithmically as a function of the number of messages signed. Signature size in a ‘typical’ system might range from a few hundred bytes to a few kilobytes, and generation of a signature might require a few hundred to a few thousand computations of the underlying conventional encryption function.
SPDH-Sign: towards Efficient, Post-quantum Group-based Signatures

Abstract:In this paper, we present a new diverse class of post-quantum group-based Digital Signature Schemes (DSS). The approach is significantly different from previous examples of group-based digital signatures and adopts the framework of group action-based cryptography: we show that each finite group defines a group action relative to the semidirect product of the group by its automorphism group, and give security bounds on the resulting signature scheme in terms of the group-theoretic computational problem known as the Semidirect Discrete Logarithm Problem (SDLP). Crucially, we make progress towards being able to efficiently compute the novel group action, and give an example of a parameterised family of groups for which the group action can be computed for any parameters, thereby negating the need for expensive offline computation or inclusion of redundancy required in other schemes of this type.

Abstract:Currently used digital signatures based on asymmetric cryptography will be vulnerable to quantum computers running Shor's algorithm. In this work, we propose a new quantum-assisted digital signature protocol based on symmetric keys generated by QKD, that allows signing and verifying messages in a simple way implementing an integration of currently available classical and quantum technologies. The protocol is described for a three-user scenario composed of one sender and two receivers. In contrast to previous schemes, it is independent of the message length. The security of the protocol has been analyzed, as well as its integrity, authenticity and non-repudiation properties.

Abstract:This paper introduces Generalized Quantum-assisted Digital Signature (GQaDS), an improved version of a recently proposed scheme whose information theoretic security is inherited by adopting QKD keys for digital signature purposes. Its security against forging is computed considering a trial-and-error approach taken by the malicious forger and GQaDS parameters are optimized via an analytical approach balancing between forgery and repudiation probabilities. The hash functions of the previous implementation are replaced with Carter-Wegman Message Authentication Codes (MACs), strengthening the scheme security and reducing the signature length. For particular scenarios where the second verifier has a safe reputation, a simplified version of GQaDS, namely deterministic GQaDS, can further reduce the required signature length, keeping the desired security strength.

Abstract:In this paper, we present an improved version of the digital signature scheme proposed by Sharafi and Daghigh based on Module-LWE and Module-SIS problems. Our proposed signature scheme has a notably higher security level and smaller decoding failure probability, than the ones in the Sharaf-Daghigh scheme, at the expense of enlarging the module of the underlying basic ring.

Abstract:After the introduction of designated confirmer signatures (DCS) by Chaum in 1994, considerable researches have been done to build generic schemes from standard digital signatures and construct efficient concrete solutions. In DCS schemes, a signature cannot be verified without the help of either the signer or a semi-trusted third party, called the designated confirmer . If necessary, the confirmer can further convert a DCS into an ordinary signature that is publicly verifiable. However, there is one limit in most existing schemes: the signer is not given the ability to disavow invalid DCS signatures. Motivated by this observation, in this paper we first propose a new variant of DCS model, called designated confirmer signatures with unified verification , in which both the signer and the designated confirmer can run the same protocols to confirm a valid DCS or disavow an invalid signature. Then, we present the first DCS scheme with unified verification and prove its security in the random oracle (RO) model and under a new computational assumption, called Decisional Co-efficient Linear (D-co-L) assumption, whose intractability in pairing settings is analyzed in generic group model. The proposed scheme is constructed by encrypting Boneh, Lynn and Shacham's pairing based short signatures with signed ElGamal encryption. The resulting solution is efficient in both aspects of computation and communication. In addition, we point out that the proposed concept can be generalized by allowing the signer to run different protocols for confirming and disavowing signatures.

Abstract:The Digital Signature Algorithm (DSA) has become the de facto standard for authentication of transacting entities since its inception as a standard by NIST. An integral part of the signing process in DSA is the generation of a random number called a nonce or an ephemeral key. If sufficient caution is not taken while generating the nonce, it can lead to the discovery of the private-key paving the way for critical security violations further on. The standard algorithms for generation of the nonce as specified by NIST, as well as the widely implemented random number generators, fail to serve as true random sources, thus leaving the DSA algorithm open to attack, resulting in possible signature forgery in electronic transactions, by potential attackers. Furthermore, the user can select the nonce arbitrarily, which leads to a subliminal channel being present to exchange messages through each signature, which may be intolerable for security reasons. In this paper, we have improved the security of the DSA algorithm by proposing an efficient nonce-generation process, which ensures that the generated nonce is sufficiently random as well as unique for each generated signature, thereby securing the signing process. Furthermore, our algorithm also ensures that there are no subliminal channels present in DSA.

Abstract:Named Data networking ensure data integrity so that every important data has to be signed by its owner in order to send it safely inside the network. Similarly, in NDN we have to assure that none could open the data except authorized users. Since only the endpoints have the right to sign the data or check its validity during the verification process, we have considered that the data could be requested from various types of devices used by different people, these devices could be anything like a smartphone, PC, sensor node with a different CPU descriptions, parameters, and memory sizes, however their ability to check the high traffic of a data during the key generation and verification period is definitely a hard task and it could exhaust the systems with low computational resources. RSA and ECDSA as digital signature algorithms have proven their efficiency against cyber attacks, they are characterized by their speed to encrypt and decrypt data, in addition to their competence at checking the data integrity. The main purpose of our research was to find the optimal algorithm that avoids the systems overhead and offers the best time during the signature scheme

Abstract:When digital signature is applied on low-power devices, like smart cards, wireless sensors and RFID tags, some specific properties, e.g., better offline storage, more modular and flexible deployment, are desired. To meet these needs, a new variant of the Fiat-Shamir transformation for digital signatures, referred to as Γ -transformation, is introduced and formalized in this work. Following this new transformation approach, some new signature schemes (referred to as Γ-signatures) are presented and discussed. In particular, it is shown that the Γ-signatures for discrete logarithm problem (DLP) developed in this work combine, in essence, the advantages of both Schnorr's signature and the digital signature standard (DSS), while saving from the disadvantages of them both.

Abstract:Digital signature is a key technique in information security, especially for identity authentications. Compared with classical correspondence, quantum digital signatures (QDSs) provide a considerably higher level of security, i.e., information-theoretic security. At present, its performance is limited by key generation protocols (e.g., BB84 or measurement-device-independent protocols), which are fundamentally limited in terms of channel capacity. Fortunately, the recently proposed twin-field quantum key distribution can overcome this limit. This paper presents a twin-field QDS protocol and details a corresponding security analysis. In its distribution stage, a specific key generation protocol, the sending-or-not-sending twin-field protocol, has been adopted and full parameter optimization method has been implemented. Numerical simulation results show that the new protocol exhibits outstanding security and practicality compared with all other existing protocols. Therefore, the new protocol paves the way toward real-world applications of QDSs

Abstract:Quantum digital signatures (QDS) exploit quantum laws to guarantee non-repudiation, unforgeability and transferability of messages with information-theoretic security. Current QDS protocols face two major restrictions, including the requirement of the symmetrization step with additional secure classical channels and the quadratic scaling of the signature rate with the probability of detection events. Here, we present an efficient QDS protocol to overcome these issues by utilizing the classical post-processing operation called post-matching method. Our protocol does not need the symmetrization step, and the signature rate scales linearly with the probability of detection events. Simulation results show that the signature rate is three orders of magnitude higher than the original protocol in a 100-km-long fiber. This protocol is compatible with existing quantum communication infrastructure, therefore we anticipate that it will play a significant role in providing digital signatures with unconditional security.
