Abstract:Mechanical equipment operation frequently results in noise generation, which can raise concerns regarding quality and safety. This study focuses on electric vibrators, essential electromechanical systems, with the goal of identifying the source and transfer path of noise. To achieve this objective, an acoustic camera positioning analysis was performed to approximate the distribution and characteristics of the noise. Building upon this foundation, a thorough evaluation of the transfer path and noise contribution was conducted. Subsequently, targeted noise suppression methods were implemented based on the properties of the noise. Primary noise sources were observed to be classified into wind turbulence and mechanical vibration based on operating conditions. Time-frequency analysis revealed the presence of low-frequency signals (around 50 Hz) and intermediate-frequency signals (around the resonant frequency), corresponding to wind-induced and mechanical response noise, respectively. Leveraging the characteristics of the noise and its transfer path, passive methods (Sound-absorbing rubber and Soundproof cotton) and active method (filtered-x least mean squares algorithm) were employed. The findings of this study contribute to a better understanding of noise mechanisms and provide insights for noise emission strategies.

Study On Adaptive Active Control Of Unstable Noise In Vehicle

Abstract:Vehicles often accelerate or decelerate when running because of road condition, automotive flow density and traffic signals and so on, so vehicle vibration and interior noise become unstable. In order to study on how to actively control interior noise in vehicle at unstable conditions, the adaptive active noise control (AANC) system was developed in this paper. According to the close correlation between dominant noise components and vibrating acceleration signals of engine-body, auto-body suspension, the interior noise signals were predicted from neural network by means of these vibrating acceleration signals. Then the forecasted. noise signals after being delayed adaptively filtered, phase-reversed and amplified were used as outputs of the secondary sound sources-loudspeakers to cancel low-frequency unstable noise in vehicle. For the purpose of following the changes of noise at real time, F-XLMS was selected as key adaptive control algorithm, with it the system can satisfy the requirements for the convergence and stability. Based on the ANNC system the unstable noise cancellation experiments were carried out in a given minibus. The experimental results' indicate that the AANC system is of the better stability and satisfactory convergence speed, and the sound pressure level in an automotive cabin can be reduced by about 8dB(Lin) whether the minibus accelerates or decelerates. At last the interior unstable noise signals from the experiments were analyzed in time and frequency domain with the wavelet analytic method, and the spectral characters of the unstable noise when an automobile changing its speed were showed.

Abstract:Increased level of automobile low-frequency noise may cause significant environmental pollution, driver and passenger discomfort etc. For automobile equipped with internal combustion engine forming of either internal or external noise is mainly caused by engine operation. Approaches to automobile low-frequency noise reduction are suggested using active noise control method. The different variants of principal schemes and constructions of electronic units of forming required vibroacoustic characteristic of active noise control system were developed by the author either for complex noise reduction of experimental unit or for investigation of the separate noise sources reduction. Intercommunication of engine compartment and passenger compartment and coherent low-frequency sound radiation by air-suctioning pipe and exhaust pipe are taking into consideration. Construction of active noise control unit designed by author for complex reduction of exhaust and intake engine low-frequency noise is described. The results described in this paper may be useful for further development and application of constructions of active noise control systems as for efficient complex engine noise reduction or for reduction of the separate automobile engine noise sources.

Abstract:Abstract By analyzing the road noise problem of a car model, it is confirmed that the car exists in the car when driving at uniform speed on rough road surface. The front and rear row road noise problem. Based on the existing vehicle CAE model, the TPA analysis of the vehicle model was carried out by using MSC NASTRAN software to obtain the contribution of each transfer path to road noise, and the main path influencing the road noise was locked. The key factors on the main path are further identified through acceleration response analysis of key positions in the transfer path. Through vehicle test and ODS simulation analysis, the main vibration modes of the components that affect the road noise are determined. Combined with CAE and test methods, a reasonable chassis optimization scheme was developed to improve the road noise performance of the vehicle.

Abstract:The work tests and analyzes the engine noise distribution in a car with and without active control, where the car’s built-in loudspeakers are used as secondary sources to attenuate the engine noise inside the whole cabin. To analyze the sound field in detail, the noise level at 52 microphones on the passenger ears’ plane is measured and presented. The distributions of the primary overall noise, first four order noise of the engine, and the sound field generated by the subwoofer at engine orders’ frequencies are reported, and the noise reductions corresponding to overall engine noise and each order’s noise are analyzed. Besides, jury test is presented and compared with the calculated loudness of residual noise to evaluate the acoustic comfort improvement of the system. The experiment results show that the overall noise reduction is achieved inside the whole cabin by controlling the first four orders’ engine noise. The average noise reduction of the measurement area inside the cabin is 6.2 dB and 2.9 dBA. Besides, 93% of the participants feel the acoustic comfort is improved with the active noise control system on.

Abstract:The vibration transmission and radiation ways that induced noise in cab were introduced in this paper.The influence rule and control methods of engine on vehicle's vibration and noise were analyzed based on the engine excitation characteristics and the different transmission modes.The difficulties in automotive powertrain vibration isolation mounting design and the improved technologies of passive mounting were discussed based on the conflicting demands and the constraint conditions.

Abstract:Taking 16 in-vehicle noise samples acquired from 4 types of car under different conditions as evaluation objects, by means of the subjective evaluation test and the statistical analysis, a sound quality model was built to describe the subjective evaluation level by the objective psycho-acoustical parameters. It was found that the key factors affecting the in-vehicle sound quality under the steady conditions are the loudness and the sharpness. The active noise control experiments on the worst 2 noise samples were performed, and the results show that the loudness and the sharpness of the in-vehicle noise were both reduced. The improvement of the sound quality was confirmed by calculation using the established model and 2 subjective evaluation tests, the annoyance level of the sound was decreased by about 5. The active noise control is proved to be feasible and effective in the vehicle sound quality improvement.

Abstract:The automotive industry is aiming at both reducing the weight of the vehicles while improving a high level of comfort. This causes contradicting requirements for the systems used for noise and vibration control. Thus, active systems are investigated which may enhance the performance of passive noise and vibration control in vehicles without adding excessive weight. In this paper, basic principles for the implementations of those systems with a focus on the control systems are reviewed. Examples from implementations in automotive applications are presented, including control of engine vibrations, structure borne noise transmitted from the road into the passenger compartment and low-frequency chassis vibrations. Based on adaptive filter systems already widely used in active noise control adaptation of the control algorithms to the specific application scenarios are discussed. This includes different configurations for feedforward and feedback control, single- and multichannel control systems and the utilization of different actuator concepts like active mounts, inertial mass actuators and active tuned absorbers, as well as different control sensors like accelerometers and microphones. Finally, current research topics and respective concepts for the improvement of active control systems are introduced.

Abstract:Active noise control (ANC) technology has been applied to reduce low frequency noise in vehicle cabins. Different from ANC in laboratory conditions, installation of the ANC system in vehicles for a long term use requires the solution of a number of practical issues. This paper reports the progress of a couple of practical ANC installations, and the implication and solution of practical issues such as magnitude and frequency variations (corresponding to different vehicle operating conditions) of the primary and reference signals, and poor coherence between primary and reference signals.

Abstract:The acoustical behavior of an automobile cabin was analyzed. The theoretical model of an active noise control system was built by use of the transfer function method. On this basis, an active noise control system was designed, then its hardware and software were developed and tested to control stable pure noise in this enclosure. The test was repeatedly carried with pure noises at variant frequencies. The results of the test show that the meaning reduction over the measured plane is about 10dB for the noise at 139Hz and 5dB at 150Hz. The noise with frequencies over 200Hz was attenuated as well in some certain regions. At last, the rule of the monitoring microphone distribution was discussed to gain a good control result.

Abstract:Finite element analysis method is very effective to structure optimization for noise control in auto-body design process with the vehicle industry development and increasing request to the driving comfort.This paper creates auto-body and acoustic finite element model,which is verified by rigidity test.Frequency response analysis is then performed to get the interior noise level and frequency distributing characteristics.The optimization function is confirmed,with minimum noise as goal,auto-body weight as restriction and key panels as design variables by panel participation analysis,by which auto-body interior noise peak is reduced by 5.1dB and 3.6dB.

Abstract:The vehicle interior noise consists of both broadband road noise and narrowband engine order noise. Currently, the road noise control (RNC) system and engine noise control (EOC) system operate independently in engineering applications. This paper introduces a novel multi-channel hybrid broadband and narrowband active noise control (HBNANC) algorithm, designed to simultaneously attenuate road noise and engine order noise inside vehicles. On this basis, by integrating an error signal design (ESD) subsystem and a sinusoidal error separation (SES) subsystem, a multi-channel hybrid broadband and narrowband active sound profiling (HBNASP) algorithm is further proposed, enabling specific attenuation or amplification of individual narrowband components to meet subjective acoustic comfort requirements. The paper validates the algorithms’ effectiveness and robustness through simulations, and real vehicle experimental measurements under various conditions. The research offers a comprehensive approach to enhancing the auditory experience inside vehicles, contributing to the advancement of active noise control technology.

Abstract:The development of new energy vehicles has attracted much attention due to the strong promotion and popularisation of the concept of low carbon and environmental protection, and the increasing demand for environmental protection in cars. Although these vehicles meet people’s requirements for resource and environmental protection, the noise generated during the driving process affects the comfort of the vehicle occupants and the concentration of the vehicle driver. To address this problem, the research proposes to improve the noise control technology of new energy vehicles based on acoustic-solid coupling theory and to test the practical application effect of this technology. The test results show that the maximum acceleration of vibration at the roof, floor, axle head, and spring of the new energy vehicle are 1.48 m/s2, 1.02 m/s2, 0.079 m/s2, and 0.020 m/s2 respectively, which are lower than the maximum acceleration before the use of this technology. The maximum sound pressure at the windscreen and side window glass of the new energy vehicle is 80 dB(A) and 73 dB(A) after the use of this technology. The maximum sound pressure at the driver’s ear was 62 dB(A) and 77 dB(A) when the vehicle was driven on different road surfaces, which were lower than the sound pressure values before use. In summary, the research proposes to improve the noise control technology of new energy vehicles based on the sound-solid coupling theory, which can have the effect of reducing the noise value generated by new energy vehicles and improving the comfort of users.

Abstract:<p>The need for more efficient and renewable means of transport makes the development of hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) an important topic for both automobile manufacturers and academic researchers. Noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) of a vehicle are important factors for vehicle users and essential for successful commercialization of this vehicle type. This paper is a compact state-of-the-art review of both NVH characteristics and relevant suppression methods for HEVs. The NVH-related problems are categorized into three categories: engine, powertrain, motor-related. A detailed overview of each category/problem-type is provided, the NVH-suppression methods for different types of HEVs are introduced, and their respective advantages discussed. In addition, emerging developments and ideas for future improvements are summarized. As a result, the paper should be particularly helpful for researchers, who are interested in the development of high-performance HEVs that can provide both substantially improved ride-comfort and reduced energy-consumption.</p>

Abstract:With the rapid development of automobile industry, electric vehicles are more and more popular. A large part of the excitation comes from the road, so in the early stage of automobile development, we should pay attention to the vibration and noise caused by the road surface. This paper mainly studies how to simulate and optimize the vehicle road noise with the random method, and focuses on the basic principle of the random method and the road noise optimization method. The simulation of road noise with the random method can effectively predict the performance of the full vehicle. Based on the modal energy of vehicle body, the optimization of road noise performance is carried out, which provides effective basis for vehicle research and development.
