Abstract:Older (>50 years) people with human immunodeficiency virus (PWH) increasingly face challenges of age-related chronic illnesses, antiretroviral therapy adverse effects, and aging symptoms, including reduced cardiorespiratory fitness. 1,2 The World Health Organization guidelines on physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior recommend regular PA for adults with chronic illnesses. Yet, a considerable proportion of PWH are insufficiently physically active, with an average of only half of these PWH complying with World Health Organization guidelines. 3 The recommendations include at least 150 to 300 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic PA or at least 75 to 150 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic PA per week, coupled with muscle-strengthening activities at moderate or greater intensity 2 or more days a week for additional benefits. 4,5
