Abstract:After introducing the simplicial manifolds, such as the different ways of defining the differential forms on them, we summarized a canonical way of calculating the characteristic classes of a $G$-principal bundle by computing them on the classifying bundle $EG\longrightarrow BG$. Finally, we calculated the first Pontryagin class on the classifying bundle of the Lie matrix groups and showed that for certain of them, the computed form is equal to the symplectic form on $BG$ given by some authors up to a constant coefficient.

Abstract:Holomorphic representations are lowest weight representations for simple Lie groups of Hermitian type and have been studied extensively. Inspired by the work of Kobayashi on discrete series for indefinite Stiefel manifolds, Gross-Wallach on quaternonic discrete series and their analytic continuation, and Orsted-Wolf on Borel-de Siebenthal discrete series, we define and study Borel-de Siebenthal representations (also called quasi-holomorphic representations) associated with Borel-de Siebenthal root systems for simple Lie groups of non-Hermitian type.

Abstract:We study the interplay between geometrically-Bott–Chern-formal metrics and SKT metrics. We prove that a 6-dimensional nilmanifold endowed with a invariant complex structure admits an SKT metric if and only if it is geometrically-Bott–Chern-formal. We also provide some partial results in higher dimensions for nilmanifolds endowed with a class of suitable complex structures. Furthermore, we prove that any Kähler solvmanifold is geometrically formal. Finally, we explicitly construct lattices for a complex solvable Lie group in the list of Nakamura (J Differ Geom 10:85–112, 1975) on which we provide a non vanishing quadruple ABC -Massey product.

Characteristic forms of complex Cartan geometries II

Abstract:Characteristic class relations in Dolbeault cohomology follow from the existence of a holomorphic Cartan geometry (for example, a holomorphic conformal structure or a holomorphic projective connection). These relations can be calculated directly from the representation theory of the structure group, without selecting any metric or connection or having any knowledge of the Dolbeault cohomology groups of the manifold. This paper improves on its predecessor by allowing noncompact and non-Kähler manifolds and by deriving invariants in cohomology of vector bundles, not just in scalar Dolbeault cohomology, and computing relations involving Chern--Simons invariants in Dolbeault cohomology. For the geometric structures previously considered in its predecessor, this paper gives stronger results and simplifies the computations. It gives the first results on Chern--Simons invariants of Cartan geometries.

Semistable Higgs bundles and representations of algebraic fundamental groups: Positive characteristic case

Abstract: Let $k$ be an algebraic closure of finite fields with odd characteristic $p$ and a smooth projective scheme $\mathbf{X}/W(k)$. Let $\mathbf{X}^0$ be its generic fiber and $X$ the closed fiber. For $\mathbf{X}^0$ a curve Faltings conjectured that semistable Higgs bundles of slope zero over $\mathbf{X}^0_{\mathbb{C}_p}$ correspond to genuine representations of the algebraic fundamental group of $\mathbf{X}^0_{\mathbb{C}_p}$ in his $p$-adic Simpson correspondence. This paper intends to study the conjecture in the characteristic $p$ setting. Among other results, we show that isomorphism classes of rank two semistable Higgs bundles with trivial chern classes over $X$ are associated to isomorphism classes of two dimensional genuine representations of $\mathbf{X}^0$ and the image of the association contains all irreducible crystalline representations. We introduce intermediate notions strongly semistable Higgs bundles and quasi-periodic Higgs bundles between semistable Higgs bundles and representations of algebraic fundamental groups. We show that quasi-periodic Higgs bundles give rise to genuine representations and strongly Higgs semistable are equivalent to quasi-periodic. We conjecture that a Higgs semistable bundle is indeed strongly Higgs semistable.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{F}$ be a coherent sheaf on a complex variety $X$ that has a locally free resolution $E^{\bullet}$. In [19], the authors constructed a pseudomeromorphic current whose support is contained in $supp(E^{\bullet})$ that represents products of Chern classes of $\mathcal{F}.$ In this paper, we show that their construction works for general de-Rham characteristic classes and then generalize it to represent products (in de-Rham cohomology) of characteristic forms of cohesive modules defined by Block. Finally, we state a corollary to a transgression result in [16] that show that it is sufficient to only use the degree-$0$ and degree-$1$ parts of the superconnection to construct currents that represent characteristic forms of cohesive modules in the Bott-Chern cohomology.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a quantum interpretation of the Bismut-Chern character form (the loop space lifting of the Chern character form) as well as the Chern character form associated to a complex vector bundle with connection over a smooth manifold in the framework of supersymmetric quantum field theories developed by Stolz and Teichner \cite{ST07}. We show that the Bismut-Chern character form comes up via a loop-deloop process when one goes from $1|1$D theory over a manifold down to a $0|1$D theory over its free loop space. Based on our quantum interpretation of the Bismut-Chern character form and Chern character form, we construct Chern character type maps for SUSY QFTs.

The symplectic form associated to a singular Poisson algebra

Abstract:Given an affine Poisson algebra, that is singular one may ask whether there is an associated symplectic form. In the smooth case the answer is obvious: for the symplectic form to exist the Poisson tensor has to be invertible. In the singular case, however, derivations do not form a projective module and the nondegeneracy condition is more subtle. For a symplectic singularity one may naively ask if there is indeed an analogue of a symplectic form. We examine an example of a symplectic singularity, namely the double cone, and show that here such a symplectic form exists. We use the naive de Rham complex of a Lie-Rinehart algebra. Our analysis of the double cone uses Gröbner bases calculations. We also give an alternative construction of the symplectic form that generalizes to categorical quotients of cotangent lifted representations of finite groups. We use the same formulas to construct a symplectic form on the simple cone, seen as a Poisson differential space and generalize the construction to linear symplectic orbifolds. We present useful auxiliary results that enable to explicitly determine generators for the module of derivations an affine variety. The latter may be understood as a differential space.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to study the Chern classes of coherent sheaves (and more generally perfect complexes) that admit crystal structures in the setting of crystalline cohomology and more generally relative prismatic cohomology. In the former theory, we show that the Chern classes vanish on the nose; in the latter theory, we show the classes are torsion with uniformly bounded exponents determined by suitable Bernoulli numbers. We also formulate some questions about syntomic Chern classes of such sheaves.

On categorification of Stokes coefficients in Chern-Simons theory

Abstract:We consider a finite-dimensional oscillatory integral which provides a "finite-dimensional model" for analytically continued $SU(2)$ Chern-Simons theory on closed 3-manifolds that are described by plumbing trees. This model allows an efficient description of Stokes phenomenon for perturbative expansions in Chern-Simons theory around classical solutions - $SL(2,\mathbb{C})$ flat connections. Moreover, the Stokes coefficients can be categorified, i.e. promoted to graded vector spaces, in terms of this finite-dimensional model. At least naively, the categorification gives BPS spectrum of 5d maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory on the 3-manifold times a line with appropriate boundary conditions. We also comment on necessity of taking into account "flat connections at infinity" to capture Stokes phenomenon for certain 3-manifolds.

On the Chern filtration for the moduli of bundles on curves

Abstract:We introduce and study the Chern filtration on the cohomology of the moduli of bundles on curves. This can be viewed as a natural cohomological invariant defined via tautological classes that interpolates between additive Betti numbers and the multiplicative ring structure. In the rank two case, we fully compute the Chern filtration for moduli of stable bundles and all intermediate stacks in the Harder--Narasimhan stratification. We observe a curious symmetry of the Chern filtration on the moduli of rank two stable bundles, and construct $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-actions that categorify this symmetry. Our study of the Chern filtration is motivated by the $P=C$ phenomena in several related geometries.

Simplicial presheaves of Green complexes and twisting cochains

Abstract:We construct three simplicial presheaves on the site of ringed spaces, and in particular on that of complex manifolds. The descent objects for these simplicial presheaves yield Toledo--Tong's twisting cochains, simplicial twisting cochains, and complexes that appear in Green's thesis on Chern classes for coherent analytic sheaves, respectively. We thus extend the aforementioned constructions to the equivariant setting, and more generally to stacks. This is the first step in achieving push-forwards in K-theory and Riemann--Roch theorems for appropriate stacks, as was achieved by Toledo and Tong for arbitrary complex manifolds, and further pursued by O'Brian and Green.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of a Seshadri stratification on an embedded projective variety. Such a structure enables us to construct a Newton-Okounkov simplicial complex and a flat degeneration of the projective variety into a union of toric varieties. We show that the Seshadri stratification provides a geometric setup for a standard monomial theory. In this framework, Lakshmibai-Seshadri paths for Schubert varieties get a geometric interpretation as successive vanishing orders of regular functions.

Abstract:We study the spaces of $(d + d^c)$-harmonic forms and $(d + d^\Lambda)$-harmonic forms, the natural generalization of the spaces of Bott-Chern harmonic forms, resp. symplectic harmonic forms from complex, resp. symplectic, manifolds to almost Hermitian manifolds. With the same techniques, we also prove that Bott-Chern and Aeppli numbers of compact complex surfaces depend only on the topology of the underlying manifold, a fact that was well-known for Hodge numbers of compact complex surfaces. We give several applications to compact quotients of Lie groups by a lattice.

On the symplectic structure over the moduli space of projective structures on a surface

Abstract:The moduli space of projective structures on a compact oriented surface $\Sigma$ has a holomorphic symplectic structure, which is constructed by pulling back, using the monodromy map, the Atiyah--Bott--Goldman symplectic form on the character variety ${\rm Hom}(\pi_1(\Sigma), \text{PSL}(2, {\mathbb C}))/\!\!/\text{PSL}(2, {\mathbb C})$. We produce another construction of this symplectic form. This construction shows that the symplectic form on the moduli space is actually algebraic. Note that the monodromy map is only holomorphic and not algebraic, so the first construction does not give algebraicity of the pulled back form.

Abstract:Each connected graded, graded-commutative algebra A of finite type over a field of characteristic zero defines a complex of finitely generated, graded modules over a symmetric algebra, whose homology graded modules are called the (higher) Koszul modules of A . In this note, we investigate the geometry of the support loci of these modules, called the resonance schemes of the algebra. When is the exterior Stanley–Reisner algebra associated to a finite simplicial complex , we show that the resonance schemes are reduced. We also compute the Hilbert series of the Koszul modules and give bounds on the regularity and projective dimension of these graded modules. This leads to a relationship between resonance and Hilbert series that generalizes a known formula for the Chen ranks of a right-angled Artin group.

Abstract:We consider a family of K\"ahler structures on products of 2-spheres, arising from complex Bott manifolds. These are obtained via iterated $\mathbb P^1$-bundle constructions, generalizing the classical Hirzebruch surfaces. We show that the resulting K\"ahler structures all have identical Chern classes. We construct Bott diagrams, which are rooted forests with an edge labelling by positive integers, and show that these classify these K\"ahler structures up to biholomorphism.
