Analysis of the Differences in Preschool Education Development in Urban and Rural China from the Perspective of Education Equity

Abstract:The equity of preschool education is the beginning and foundation of education equity.The difference in education equity becomes significant between urban and rural preschool education,which has been demonstrated by the inequity at the starting point,the process and the result of preschool education development.This can be attributed to the unbalanced economic development in urban and rural areas,the uneven distribution of educational resources and the lack of supervision of preschool education quality in rural areas.In order to promote the preschool education equity and narrow the gap between urban and rural areas,efforts should be made a) to promote the popularization of rural preschool education and ensure the basic right of rural children to preschool education to promote preschool education equity between the urban and rural areas at the starting point of education;b) to reform the allocation mechanism of human and physical resources in urban and rural areas,and improve the quality of preschool teachers and the conditions of running kindergartens to ensure preschool education equity in educational process;and c) to strengthen the quality supervision of rural kindergarten curriculum and education and improve the preparation quality of rural children for primary school to ensure preschool education equity in educational outcome.
